Amanda's Rage plays at BCC to benefit cancer patient Austin Heineman

(Area band) Amanda's Rage will be cranking it up to help Austin Heineman in his battle with cancer. He has a very aggressive and rare form of cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor.

Come out Friday night, March 1, to join Austin's Army. This event will take place at the Batavia Country Club, at 7909 Batavia-Byron Road in Batavia, and last from 8 p.m. until midnight.

$3 cover/donation - 50/50 raffles - Open donations.

Hawley's staff available to meet with constituents Friday afternoon at GCC

Rising Americana star Natalia Zukerman performs on Valentine's Day at GCC

Civil War lecture at GCC: Man who played Lincoln's valet in big Hollywood movie talks about acting

Civil War lecture at GCC's Batavia Campus Rom T102, free and open to the public. Takes place at 7 p.m.

On March 13 -- Stephen McKinley Henderson will speak about "Story-Line Acting" and his experiences as an actor in both film and on stage. The audience will be particularly interested in his role as Abraham Lincoln's personal valet in the film "Lincoln," which was recently nominated for 12 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor.

Civil War lecture at GCC: 'Hanging Henry Wirz' and the meaning of 'war crimes'

Today and tomorrow sales at Main Street Pizza help fund spay and neutering

St. Paul Lutheran School's annual Benefit Auction

St. Paul Lutheran School will hold its annual Benefit Auction on Saturday, Feb. 2. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the auctioneer begins at 4. It will be held in the school lunchroom (the church basement), located at 31 Washington Ave. in the City of Batavia.

The auction raises money to provide a Christian education for 3-year-old preschoolers through fifth-graders in our community. There's a fantastic selection of handmade items, crafts, theme baskets, gift certificates, vacation packages, novelties, and more.

Service at Le Roy United Methodist Church honoring heroic Four Chaplains

A service to honor the four Army Chaplains who gave their lives to save fellow soldiers 70 years ago, will be held at the Le Roy United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, the public is invited.

The service will feature music, an Honor Guard, the National Anthem, hymns, the story of the Four Chaplains read by Jim Neider, Adjutant of the Genesee County American Legion and Scripture readings by various clergy.

Pembroke girls varsity basketball team Shoots for a Cure

Last year, the Pembroke High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team raised $4,000 to benefit America's first cancer center, the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Downtown Buffalo, which was established in 1898. The money went toward breast cancer research.

On Thursday at 7 p.m., Pembroke will once again take to the court in a special Shooting for a Cure game. It will be played at Pembroke high against Holley.

As with the first Shooting for a Cure fundraiser, a lineup of WNY merchants and individuals are generously supporting the cause.

Assemblyman Hawley holds office hours this afternoon at GCC

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,I,C–Batavia) is hosting his regular outreach office hours for Genesee County residents at Genesee Community College this coming Friday, May 22.

It will be from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Conable Technology Building Room T123 at the college, located at 1 College Road, Batavia. Staff members from Assemblyman Hawley’s office will be there.
