Accident with injuries at Harper and Richley roads, Darien

A car accident is reported at Harper and Richley roads in Darien. The car is on fire. There is entrapment. Injuries are reported. Mercy Flight is called. The helicopter is now in Buffalo and refueling. Darien Fire Department is responding along with Mercy EMS. The bird will land at the scene. It has a seven-minute ETA. One patient will be transported via Mercy Flight, two others via ambulance.

UPDATE 7:34 p.m.: Mercy Flight has a three-minute ETA and will land in a "wide open field" west of the roadway. Harper Road is shut down.

UPDATE 7:38 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on the ground.

UPDATE 7:47 p.m.: One patient has been transported to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 7:55 p.m.: All patients are being taken to ECMC.

UPDATE 9:31: Darien is just now back in service and the roadway is being reopened.

Person injured after car hits deer on Route 20, Pavilion

Multiple callers report to dispatch that a car has hit a deer on Route 20 in Pavilion and a person is injured.

Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 11:31 a.m.: The deer apparently went through a side window. The patient was not breathing, but is now breathing with difficulty. The patient suffered facial injuries. Mercy Flight put on in-air standby.

UPDATE 11:33 a.m.: Mercy Flight will not be needed at the scene.

UPDATE 11:50 a.m.: Patient being transported to Strong.

UPDATE 11:52 a.m.: Pavilion back in service.

Multiple injury accident on Harlow Road

A two-car accident involving multiple injuries and possible entrapment is reported at 714 Harlow Road near Broadway Road. Mercy Flight is on in-air standby. Darien Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 11:58 p.m.: A responder on scene reports there is no entrapment.

UPDATE 12 p.m.: Law enforcement in on scene. An ambulance from Alden is also called to the scene. A responder reports that one vehicle has a 17-year-old driver and three passengers -- all under the age of 2. The driver of the other car has minor scratches. One of the vehicles is a Jeep.

UPDATE 12:09 p.m.: Mercy Flight is cancelled.

UPDATE 12:22 p.m.: One patient is being taken to Erie County Medical Center via the Alden ambulance. One patient is being transported to UMMC by Mercy medics.

UPDATE 12:31 p.m.: Mercy is taking one patient to Women's and Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

UPDATE 12:37 p.m.: An adult female patient is being taken to ECMC, but it is not clear if this is a new transport or if the rig that was going to go to Buffalo was re-routed.

UPDATE 12:53 p.m.: Darien is back in service.

Car and motorcycle accident on Genesee Street, Darien

A car and motorcycle accident is reported at 519 Genesee St. (Route 33) in Darien. The motorcyclist is alert and conscious and complaining of a headache. Mercy EMS and Darien firefighters are responding.

The location is between South Lake and Fargo roads.

UPDATE 2:51 p.m.: Darien is back in service. The motorcyclist is being transported to UMMC.

Accident on Norton Road and Route 262, Elba

A two-car accident is reported at Norton Road and Route 262. One person is complaining of a facial injury. It is partially blocking the roadway. Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:23: A second ambulance is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 2:41 p.m.: A Mercy rig is transporting two patients to UMMC after their vehicle "broadsided" another vehicle, causing "moderate front-end damage" to the vehicle occupied by the patients. The driver is a 70-year-old man who has lacerations on his upper and lower lips and seat-belt marks and bruising. The passenger is a 30-year-old woman with bruising from her seat belt. CORRECTION: A family member informs us the patients were 17 and 13.

UPDATE 2:48 p.m.: The driver of the other vehicle is also being taken to UMMC by Mercy. The 33-year-old man is complaining of shoulder pain.

UPDATE 2:53 p.m.: Elba is back in service.

Motor-vehicle accident at Route 77 and Ledge Road, Alabama

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at Route 77 and Ledge Road. Alabama Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. There is one patient with a facial injury who is also complaining of chest pain.

UPDATE 12:39: Southbound traffic is blocked. Fire police are needed for traffic control. Law enforcement is on scene.

UPDATE 1:17 p.m.: Alabama is back in service. One patient is being transported to Erie County Medical Center.

Car crash at Cole Road and Route 19, Le Roy

A two-car accident with unknown injuries is reported at Cole Road and Route 77 19 in Le Roy. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.: Injuries are minor. The ambulance is told to respond in non-emergency mode. A responder says "As soon as we can get law enforcement here, we'll probably clear."

Woman accused of being on the phone and drunk while driving on Route 19

A woman reportedly involved in a motor-vehicle accident in Pavilion early Wednesday morning has been accused of using her mobile phone while driving and doing that while she was drunk.

Alexandra Rae Wood, 21, of McCall Road, Batavia, allegedly had a BAC of .18 or greater when she drove her car into a ditch on Route 19 at 2:34 a.m.

She has been charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .18 or greater, unlawful possession of marijuana, moving from lane unsafely and unlawful use of a mobile phone.

Wood was issued an appearance ticket and released.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Jason Saile.

Driver knocks out power for some in Bethany and Stafford

A 70-year-old man from Gates was involved in a single-car accident Monday night that caused 231 National Grid customers to lose power for about four hours.

Morley J. Pray, of Ashton Drive, Gates, was driving southbound on Clipnock Road at 7:13 p.m. when his vehicle went off the west shoulder of the road for an unknown reason.

Pray was reportedly unable to get the 2004 Chevy pickup back on the road before striking a petroleum pipeline cap and then a National Grid utility pole in the area of 9455 Clipnock Road.

No citations were issued.

Pray suffered minor injuries, but did not require transport to a hospital.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. Greg Walker.

Accident with possible injuries on Byron-Holley Road

Motor-vehicle accident with possible injuries is reported at Byron-Holley and Town Line roads, Byron.

Byron Fire Department along with Mercy EMS dispatched.

One injured in Bergen accident on Friday

A Batavia resident suffered a minor injury in an accident Friday on Route 33 in Bergen after another car reportedly pulled in front of her car.

Hurt was Kelly J. Poole-Davis, 39, of North Lyon Street, Batavia. She was taken by ground ambulance to UMMC.

The other driver, Loretta E. Miller, 71, of Buffalo Street, Bergen, was uninjured, but was issued a traffic citation.

According to Deputy John L. Baiocco, Miller said she was exiting the Sugar Creek parking lot and never saw Poole-Davis's car. Miller was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Route 33.

Two people killed in Sunday morning accident

UPDATED 12:03 p.m.

The drivers of both cars that collided head on at 6:44 a.m. on Lewiston Road, just south of Galloway Road, Batavia, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the cars appeared to hit squarely, though the speeds of either vehicle have not yet been determined.

It's unknown what caused a northbound white sedan to cross the double-yellow line.

The sedan hit a minivan.

The sedan, a 1997 Buick, was driven by Quayeshawn D. Smith, 25, of 4590 Mill St., Medina.

The minivan, a 2002 Mazda, was driven by Rosemary Calla, 74, of 34 S. Main St., Oakfield.

Sgt. James Meier said he doesn't believe weather conditions, light wind and a light drizzle, contributed to the accident.

No other passengers were in either vehicle.

Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS responded to the scene, though Mercy medics went back in service shortly after arriving at the accident.

Lewiston Road was closed in both directions between Galloway Road and Veterans Memorial Drive from shortly after 7 a.m. until 9:36 a.m.

Oakfield Fire provided traffic control at Galloway and Route 63.

The accident is being investigated by the Crash Management Team of the Sheriff's Office, which includes Sgt. Meier, Sgt. Bill Scott, Deputy Brad Mazur and Investigator William Ferrando.

Serious injury accident reported on Lewiston Road, Batavia

A serious injury accident is reported in the area of 7936 Lewiston Road, Batavia.

Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS requested to the scene.

Mercy Flight unable to fly due to weather.

Route 63 closed in both directions

UPDATE 7:40 a.m.: This is a double fatal accident.

UPDATE 9:36 a.m.: Lewiston Road is reopened. Town of Batavia is back in service.

Accident at routes 19 and 33 in Bergen

A motor-vehicle accident with air-bag deployment is reported at routes 19 and 33. Medics are responding along with the Bergen Fire Department.

UPDATE 2:27 p.m.: Fire police are called to handle traffic.

UPDATE 2:34: There's only one lane of traffic open.

UPDATE 2:49 p.m.: One patient is being transported to UMMC complaining of pain in both wrists after the patient's vehicle was allegedly struck by the other vehicle involved.

UPDATE 3:06 p.m.: Fire crews are back in service.

UPDATE 3:10 p.m.: The roadway is clear and reopened.

Possible injury accident on Route 33 at Wortendyke Road

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported at Route 33 and Wortendyke Road.

It may be a rollover accident.

Power lines may be down.

UPDATE 4:08 p.m.: Dispatchers are receiving conflicting reports on injuries. Trooper on scene reports the pole is tilted but wires are not down.

UPDATE 4:16 p.m.: Minor injuries. East Pembroke Fire Department is on scene.

Car vs. motorcycle wreck on West Saile Drive

A motorcycle and car accident is reported on West Saile Drive in the Town of Batavia, which has its fire department responding along with Mercy medics and law enforcement.

UPDATE 2:03 p.m.: Town of Batavia is back in service. The motorcyclist/patient is inside Stan's Harley Davidson, located at 4425 W. Saile Drive.

UPDATE 2:07 p.m.: Must have been a sign-off. Mercy medics are back in service.

UPDATE 2:10 p.m.: The motorcyclist has a minor road rash.

Six people injured in accident on Route 77 at Indian Falls Road

An 18-year-old driver is accused of failing to yield to another vehicle at the intersection of Route 77 and Indian Falls Road, leading to an accident that sent six people to area hospitals, two via Mercy Flight.

The accident was reported at 11:22 p.m., Monday, and Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments responded along with an ambulances from Darien, Akron and Mercy EMS.

Mercy Flight 5 and Mercy Flight 7 were dispatched to the scene.

Three patients were airlifted to Erie County Medical Center: Jeremy W. Myrick, the driver of the first vehicle, and Jacob N. Lekopites, 17, a passenger in Myrick's 1991 Pontiac sedan.

Myrick, of Maryvale Drive, Cheektawaga, was cited for alleged failure to yield.

According to the accident investigation report prepared by Deputy Jason Saile, Myrick was westbound on Indian Falls Road when he pulled onto Route 77 in front of a northbound vehicle.

Driving north was Ocie Bennett Jr., 36, of West State Street, Albion. In the 2005 Ford SUV with Bennett was Patricia Smith, 54.

Both Bennett and Smith were transported to the hospital in Medina.

Two other passengers in Myrick's vehicle, Coty L. Kimmel and Adam G. Woodworth, both 18, were transported to UMMC.

Myrick is listed in fair condition at ECMC. Lekopites was treated and released.

Serious injury accident reported on Route 77, Indian Falls

A serious injury motor-vehicle accident has been reported at Route 77 and Indian Falls Road, Pembroke.

Pembroke and Indian Falls responding.

Mercy Flight requested to the scene.

Corfu Fire Department requested to the scene to set up a landing zone.

Darien ambulance requested to the scene, mutual aid.

UPDATE 11:37 p.m.: A total of three ground ambulances along with Mercy Flight requested to the scene. All victims extricated.

UPDATE 11:39 p.m.: Route 77 northbound being shutdown at the Thruway interchange.

UPDATE 11:42 p.m.: Mercy Flight 5, five minute ETA.

UPDATE 11:44 p.m.: Mercy Flight 7 requested to the scene. Darien, Mercy EMS and Akron ambulances in route. A total of five victims. Mercy Flight 5 is in sight of the ground contact.

UPDATE 11:49 p.m.: Mercy Flight 5 has landed.

UPDATE 11:52 p.m.: Mercy Flight 7, 12 to 15 minute ETA.

UPDATE 11:56 p.m.: Both vehicles are about 50 feet off the roadway. One is on its roof. The other has heavy front-end damage.

UPDATE 11:59 p.m.: Darien ambulance transporting one to UMMC.

UPDATE 12:05 a.m.: Mercy Flight 7 on the ground.

UPDATE 12:11 a.m.: Akron in route to Medina with two patients.

UPDATE 12:31 a.m.: Corfu back in service.

UPDATE 12:43 a.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls back in service. Route 77 reopening.
