One-vehicle rollover accident with entrapment in Byron

A one-vehicle rollover accident with entrapment is reported at Route 262 and Bank Street Road.

Byron and South Byron fire departments and Mercy medics are responding. Mercy Flight is on ground standby.

UPDATE 7:58 a.m.: The driver managed to get out of the vehicle. There is no need for Mercy Flight; the standby is canceled.

UPDATE 8:02 a.m.: Command says responders heading to the scene can come in non-emergency mode. A flatbed tow is called. The vehicle is on its roof about 40 feet off the roadway. It is reported that the accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m..

UPDATE 8:06 a.m.: Command put Mercy medics back in service.

UPDATE 8:46 a.m.: South Byron back in service.

Head-on collision reported on Route 98, Alexander

A head-on collision is reported in the area of 10109 Alexander Road, Alexander.

That's between Sprague and Goodman roads.

Alexander fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE(S) 7:06 a.m. by Billie: The road is shut down. Two ambulances were called, then canceled by Alexander command. Now an ambulance is called to the scene to transport an individual to the hospital, despite the person's decline of aid. Two flatbed tow trucks are responding.

UPDATE 7:22 a.m.: An Alexander ambulance is transporting a 30-year-old woman to UMMC with complaints of chest and leg pain. The medic said the vehicles were traveling 55 mph at the time of the collision.

UPDATE 7:40 a.m.: A Mercy rig also transported a patient to a hospital.

UPDATE 7:57 a.m. (by Howard): One driver apparently fell asleep. That driver's car drifted completely into the oncoming lane. The driver in that lane, in an attmept to avoid a collision, drove into its opposite lane. The two cars collided at the center line, front passenger side to front passenger side. 

Truck hits guard rail on Thruway in Pembroke

A tractor-trailer has reportedly hit the guard rail on the westbound lane of the Thruway in the area of mile marker 403.1.

Smoke is coming from the truck.

Unknown injuries.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments dispatched.

Pedestrian reportedly hit by car in parking lot of Coffee Culture

A pedestrian has reportedly been hit by a car in the parking lot of Coffee Culture, off Court Street.

City fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 8:19 a.m.: The patient is being transported to UMMC. Bumps and bruises and right shoulder pain. The car was traveling at low speed.

Big rig wreck in Le Roy, wires down, roadway blocked

A tractor-trailer accident is reported at 8745 Lake Street Road in Le Roy, in front of Dr. Vladimir Gaspar's office. It is blocking the roadway and several wires were pulled down. Le Roy fire and medics are responding. National Grid has been advised, no ETA given.

UPDATE 10:53 a.m.: The Le Roy assignment is back in service.

UPDATE: Both doctor Gaspar's office and Urgent Care will beclosed for the remainer of the day so repairs can be completed of the damaged electrical lines.

Car strikes pole on Fargo Road, minor injuries, Darien responding

A car vs. pole accident is reported at 9587 Fargo Road. Darien fire and medics are responding. The driver is out of the vehicle and injuries, if any, are believed to be minor. The pole was not knocked down. The location is between Genesee Street and Reynolds Road.

UPDATED: Tractor-trailer on its side on Route 63, Pavilion

A tractor-trailer has reportedly rolled onto its side on Route 63, near River Road, in Pavilion.

Pavilion fire is dispatched.

UPDATE 7:55 a.m.: A firefighter on location reports extrication will be needed.

UPDATE 8:08 a.m.: A diesel tank has ruptured. A large amount of fuel has spilled. Emergency Services requested to the scene. Pads and booms requested.

UPDATE 11:45 a.m.: One lane on northbound Route 63 remains closed. It's going to be awhile before it reopens. This morning, authorities were waiting for NYS DOT to come out and remove the guard rail on the east shoulder. The truck can't be pulled forward because of a large cement culvert outlet directly ahead of it. The DEC wanted the remaining diesel fuel from both tanks offloaded first, too. A good deal of fuel spilled down the drainage ditch that runs along the side of the road. Firefighters seem to have stopped the drainage about 100 yards south of the accident scene. The driver apparently fell asleep. He was transported by Mercy EMS to UMMC for treatment of minor injuries.

UPDATE 12:48 p.m.: Route 63 is closed in both directions pending removal of the disabled tractor-trailer.

UPDATE 4:01 p.m.: The tractor-trailer has been removed. The road should reopen shortly.

Sheriff's Office releases names in Sunday night's ATV accident in Pembroke

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of those involved in an ATV crash that sent four to the hospital late Sunday night.

Just after 11 p.m. Sunday, two ATVs – each carrying a passenger -- collided on Route 5 in the Town of Pembroke. Deputies say the two ATVs were riding eastbound, side-by-side, near Cleveland Road when the collision occurred, ejecting all four riders.

The driver of the first ATV, 26-year-old Charles Chatley, of Kilian Road, Pembroke, allegedly crashed into the second ATV, causing his vehicle to flip. He is the second assistant chief of the East Pembroke Fire Department.

His passenger, 26-year-old Kristina Rumble, was taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight. 

The driver of the second ATV was 35-year-old Stephen Smelski, who is East Pembroke fire's first assistant chief and a dispatcher for Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center. Contrary to other reports, he was NOT transported by Mercy Flight.

Stephen Smelski's passenger, 37-year-old Brenda Smelski, and Chatley were taken to ECMC by ambulance.

The Sheriff’s Office says charges are pending.

Mowing accident, rider with minor injuries, on Rose near Wortendyke

A town tractor that was mowing rolled over into a ditch on Rose Road near Wortendyke Road. The rider has minor injuries. The tractor was, or is, smoking. East Pembroke and Town of Batavia fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 1:24 p.m.: A responder reports the tractor is no longer smoking and the rider is up and walking around.

UPDATE 1:26 p.m.: Mutual aid from Town of Batavia is cancelled.

UPDATE 1:46 p.m.: The East Pembroke assignment is back in service. The rider was transported to UMMC.

UPDATE 2:16 p.m.: Law enforcement at the scene reports the tractor has been removed from the roadway.

ATV accident reported in East Pembroke

An ATV accident with multiple people injured is reported in the area of 2069 Main Road, East Pembroke.

East Pembroke fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

Three or four people are injured, with a possible serious injury.

Mercy Flight being put on standby.

UPDATE 11:21 p.m.: Town of Batavia fire requested to the scene to set up a landing zone for Mercy Flight at Pembroke Primary School.

UPDATE 12:45 a.m.: There are two confirmed injuries. A female passenger was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight. A driver was taken to ECMC by Mercy EMS. Sgt. Eric Seppala said there may have been a second ATV involved in the accident. The second ATV left the scene prior to law enforcement arriving. It's unknown if anybody on that ATV was injured. It's unclear at this point what happened, though it appears the ATVs were on the roadway. The investigation is continuing. Anybody with information that may assist in the investigation are asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (585) 343-5000. 

UPDATE Monday morning: A press release from the Sheriff's Office states that two four-wheel ATVs collided. Both ATVs had a driver and passenger. The driver and passenger of the second ATV were taken by private vehicle to UMMC and later transfered to ECMC for treatment. No names were released. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Man from Batavia ticketed following accident in Perry

A driver from Batavia was uninjured in an accident Thursday in Wyoming County after he apparently fell asleep.

Alex Jarvela, 25, was, however, cited by State Police. Jarvela received traffic tickets for allegedly moving from lane unsafely and driving left of pavement markings in a no-passing zone.

The accident occurred on Route 246, Town of Perry.

Jarvela was southbound when his vehicle drifted into the northbound lane and exited the highway off the east shoulder, coming to rest in a ditch.

The Perry and Perry Center fire departments assisted at the scene.

Motorcycle wreck with injuries reported on Colby Road, Darien

A motorcycle accident is reported on Colby Road just south of Sumner Road. There are injuries and Mercy Flight #8 from Buffalo is called to the scene. Darien fire will be establishing a landing zone nearby.

UPDATE 7:47 p.m.: Mercy Flight has landed.

UPDATE 8:04 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to a hospital in Buffalo.

UPDATE 8:22 p.m.: The Darien assignment is back in service.
