Car on its side in a ditch on Sheppard Road

A car is on its side in a ditch in the area of 9208 Sheppard Road, Batavia.

If there are injuries, they are minor.

Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy EMS responding.

The vehicle is in about a 15-foot hole with "somewhat tricky access for the tow," reports a chief.

A chief responding roads are icy and slick at the intersections of Cedar and Main, and Cedar and Ellicott.

There have been a couple of vehicles off the road in various parts of the county, this morning, including a truck that jackknifed in conjunction with a three-car accident at routes 19 and 20 about 6 a.m.

Currently, there is a light snow falling that is expected to last a good bit of the day. It's about 8 degrees and windchill is -5 degrees. Tonight, temperatures are expected to drop to -4.

UPDATE 9:35 a.m.: Town of Batavia Fire cleared. Law enforcement is shutting down Sheppard in both directions so tow truck can position itself to get good traction.

UPDATE  10:03 a.m.: Sheppard is opened.

Rollover accident in Stafford

A one-car rollover accident is reported at 6723 Clinton Street Road in Stafford.

The driver is still inside, but conscious and moving.

Stafford Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

The location is between Waterman and Coward roads.

UPDATE 1:11 p.m.: Responders on scene say the driver has minor injuries and that no extrication is needed.

UPDATE 1:20 p.m.: The driver is out of the vehicle. A flatbed tow truck from Bethany is responding.

One-car rollover reported on Griswold Road, Stafford

A one-car rollover accident has been reported at Griswold Road and Route 33, Stafford.

One person is trapped in the car, but is not believed to be injured.

Stafford Fire is responding.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: Driver is out of the car and reportedly suffered minor cuts on his or her hand.

Minor injury, rollover accident in Elba

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 4591 Batavia-Elba Townline Road in Elba. There are reportedly minor injuries.

The location is between State Street and Norton Road.

Elba Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 12:14 p.m.: The female driver has wrist and leg injuries. The car is on its side. She is not trapped, but needs assistance to get out of the car.

UPDATE 12:17 p.m.: The victim is out of the car. A flatbed tow truck is called. The westbound lane is shut down.

UPDATE 12:26 p.m.: Route 98 is being closed at its juncture with Batavia-Elba Townline Road (Daws).

UPDATE 12:47 p.m.: All units back in service. Road is reopened.

Motor-vehicle accident with injuries reported at Ellicott and Liberty streets

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported at the intersection of Ellicott and Liberty streets, City of Batavia.

UPDATE: The accident was actually about 100 yards west of Liberty on Ellicott. One person was hurt, but the injuries are apparently minor. It appears that one car rear-ended another.

Accident at Main and Oak in the city

A two-car accident, without injuries, is reported at the intersection of Main and Oak streets in the City of Batavia. It is blocking the intersection.

Police are on scene and requesting additional manpower to handle traffic. Two flatbeds tow trucks are requested.

UPDATE 6:34 p.m.: The Batavia Fire Department is called to the scene because one of the vehicles is leaking fluids.

City Plow hits car on East Main Street

A city plow struck a passenger car in the area of 400 E. Main St. in Batavia shortly after 10 a.m.

The driver appeared conscious and alert as she was helped from the car and placed on a stretcher.

The only visible damage to the car was a shredded rear tire and busted rear window.

Office Ed Mileham said until the report is done, all he could say was that the driver was making a left-hand turn into the parking lot of H.E. Turner when the city plow struck it.

Two car accident on West Main, believed no injuries

A two-car accident is tying up traffic a bit in the area of 375 W. Main St., Batavia.

It is believed there are no injuries, though there are unknown type fluids leaking from at least one car.

City Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

Rollover accident with injuries, entrapment in Alexander

A two-car rollover accident with injuries and entrapment is reported in Alexander on Broadway Road near Brookville Road.

One vehicle is upside down, the other is near a creek. Mercy Flight Batavia is on standby.

Alexander Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 5:04 p.m.: There are two patients. One man is in a truck which landed upside down. He is conscious and alert but his leg is trapped.

UPDATE 5:09 p.m.: Mercy Flight is cancelled.

UPDATE 5:14 p.m.: Fire chief on scene reports a stop sign was knocked down and the state Department of Transportation has been notified. Two flatbed tow trucks are being dispatched for the vehicles involved in the accident.

UPDATE 5:16 p.m.: The man whose leg was trapped in his upside-down truck is now out.

Car hits pole on Ellicott Street Road

A car has hit a pole in the area of Ellicott Street Road and Transit Road.

There is airbag deployment, but no word yet on injuries.

Bethany Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 3:25: Correction, Mercy EMS not dispatched. Chief at scene says he should be all set.

Basom man dies in crash in Erie County

An early morning accident in Newstead near the Genesee County border claimed the life of a 44-year-old Basom resident.

Bryan J. Oczkowski was driving westbound on Carney Road in Newstead at 6:30 a.m. when his truck went off the road, rolled over and struck a utility pole.

Oczkowski was wearing a seat belt and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine his cause of death.

Two-car accident just outside Village of Alexander

A two-car accident is reported on a hill just outside the Village of Alexander. It's on Route 98 in the area of Goodman Road. One man is reportedly feeling faint.

It is partially blocking the roadway. Law enforcement is called to help with traffic. Alexander Fire Department is responding along with an ambulance.

Traffic is being stopped on northbound Route 98 at the underpass. One lane of traffic is allowed southbound.

Bergen man cited following accident in Middlebury

A Bergen man was cited for alleged failure to stop and speed too fast for conditions following a non-injury traffic accident in the Town of Middlebury on Saturday.

Lonnie D. Godat, 46, was heading west on LaGrange Road, going down a grade, when he could not stop for a stop sign at an intersection, according to a State Police press release.

Godat's vehicle struck the driver's side door of a car on Saltvale Road driven by 16-year-old Dillon J. Gay of Warsaw.

Neither driver nor the six passengers were hurt in the crash.

Sheriff's Office looking for witnesses to accident in Le Roy

The Sheriff's Office is looking for anybody who witnessed a non-injury accident Thursday morning on Route 19, Le Roy.

The accident occurred at 6:14 a.m. in front of Le Roy Manor, 8678 Lake Street Road.

A green 2000 Ford Taurus, driven by Deborah A. Rodgers, 43, was pulling from the driveway of Le Roy Manor preparing to turn south when it was struck by a red 2002 Hyundai driven by Leslie J. Exford, 48.

Exford was passing a northbound tractor-trailer. The accident occurred in the southbound lane.

Witnesses are asked to call Deputy Frank Bordonaro at 345-3000, ext. 3229.

Rollover accident with minor injuries in Pembroke

A one-car rollover accident with minor injuries is reported at 352 Main Road in Pembroke. The location is east of the Erie County line.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy BLS.

UPDATE 3:32 p.m.: The driver refused medical treatment.

Two-car accident with minor injuries on Route 19, Le Roy

A two-car head-on collision as been reported in front of Orcon Industries, 8715 Lake St. Road, Le Roy.

The initial caller reported it was a low-speed impact, but there are apparently minor injuries.

Traffic is being shut down at Route 19 and West Bergen Road.

There are fluids in the roadway.

Rollover accident on westbound Thruway

A rollover accident is reported on the Thruway at mile marker 399, westbound. There is possible entrapment. The availability of Mercy Flight is sought.

East Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 2:58 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on "in-air standby." A tanker is called to the scene. Everybody is out of the vehicle.

UPDATE 3:07 p.m.: Mercy Flight has been cancelled.
