Michael Napoleone Memorial Foundation hosts Derby Day Gala at Terry Hills

It’s Off to the Races as the Michael Napoleone Memorial Foundation, prepares for its Derby Day Gala 2019, a fundraising event held in conjunction with the running of the 145th Kentucky Derby.

The event raises monies to support the mission of the Foundation, namely to assist families struggling with the diagnosis of pediatric cancers, support research efforts in the area of childhood cancers, and provide assistance to youth activities and programs.

Two public hearings at the GC Legislature: fair housing practices and proposed law on secondhand goods

(1) Genesee County shall conduct a public hearing on fair housing practices and to identify any concerns and issues with fair housing practices in Genesee County. The public hearing will be held at the Old Courthouse, 7 Main St., Batavia, at 5:30 p.m., April 10. All persons who wish to speak will be heard. Written comments will be accepted upon delivery to: Clerk, Genesee County Legislature, 7 Main St., Batavia, NY 14020 prior to the hearing. The hearing location is in compliance with accessibility standards under the Americ

Cabaret of pop music performed by O-A students in auditorium

A cabaret concert of popular music will be performed this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday March 27, by music students at Oakfield-Alabama Central Schools' Auditorium. The performance was originally slated for March 6 but was rescheduled.

The public is invited. The concert is a fundraiser for the Music Department Boosters.

Suggested donation is $5 for adults and $1 for students.

The school is located at 7001 Lewiston Road, Oakfield.

Earth Day is your chance to give back to your community and take care of the Earth! Join us at DeWitt Recreation Area in Batavia for the 19th annual Earth Day Celebration and help with park cleanup from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

Let's celebrate Earth Day early (it's actually Monday, April 22) and help keep the park beautiful and the habitat safe and healthy for wildlife.

Learn to make cool things from recycled materials and enjoy a naturalist-guided hike to discover the natural wonders in the park.

Happening at Batavia's Original: All-day benefit for Batavia Girls Softball Program

Nickie Fazio is hosting a Batavia Softball benefit at Batavia's Original Pizzeria Restaurant from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.

Ten percent of your bill will go to help the Batavia Girls Softball Program.

The pizzeria is located at 500 E. Main St. in Batavia.

Spring Fling at GO ART! -- Back to the fantabulous '50s

GO ART! will host its Spring Fling from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
 
This will be a 1950s themed evening of music and appetizers with a cash bar. The Genean Awards will be presented that evening.
 
Tickets are $20 per person for non-members and $15 per person for members.

Watercolorist Michael Killelea conducts demo at GO ART!

The Batavia Society of Artist is hosting artist Michael Killelea from 7 to 9 p.m. on April 9th at GO ART! inside Seymour Place, 201 E. Main St., Batavia

Killelea is going to demonstrate how at add a figure or animal in a completed watercolor painting to add interest and help the composition.

Non-members welcome for a $5 fee.

'Trace the History of Your House' is topic of historian's lecture at Stafford Historical Society

The Stafford Historical Society will be hosting Cindy Amrhein, Wyoming County historian and archival researcher, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.

She will lecture on "Trace the History of Your House." The meeting will be at the Stafford Town Hall, 8903 Route 237.

Elba Sports Boosters hold Meat Raffle at Elba Firemen's Rec Hall

Elba Sports Boosters will hold a Meat Raffle on Saturday, March 30, at Elba Firemen's Rec Hall. It is located at 7143 Oak Orchard Road, Elba.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and first pull is at 6 p.m.

$10 per person donation to attend, or reserve a table for eight for $70. Price includes beer, soda pop, wine and a door prize raffle ticket.

There will also be a Freezer Full of Meat Raffle, a Wheelbarrow of Booze Raffle, and a 50/50 Raffle.

"Grab your family and friends, bring snacks, a cooler for your winnings, and plenty of $1 bills!"

GSO's 'Made in America!' Pops Concert at Elba Central School Auditorium

The Genesee Symphony Orchestra will present its "Made in America!" Pops Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 31 in the Elba Central School Auditorium. It is located at 57 S. Main St. in Elba.

S. Shade Zajac is the music director and conductor. The concert will feature composer, percussionist and guest soloist Dave Mancini.

WBTA is the sponsor of the "Made in America!" Pops Concert.

'Community for Understanding' monthly discussion at St. Mark's in Le Roy -- topic is book 'We Are Here to Stay' by Susan Kuklin

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s monthly discussion series called “Community for Understanding” will meet at 7 p.m on Thursday, April 4, to discuss the book “We Are Here to Stay: Voices of Undocumented Young Adults” by Susan Kuklin.

Copies of the book are available at church. Discussions are open to all, and meetings will emphasize civility in discourse with faith considered in its broadest sense from all religious experiences.
