Car slides into ditch in Bryon, driver is soaked and very cold

A car went off the roadway and into a ditch on Tower Hill Road near Byron Road. Byron and South Byron fire companies are responding along with an ambulance. The car is on its side. The driver is out of the vehicle with "minor injuries, however completely soaked," and possible having symptoms of hypothermia.

UPDATE 3:41 p.m.: Fire crews are told to respond non-emergency.

Pickup truck and big rig collide on Route 20, Alexander

A pickup truck and tractor-trailer crashed at 4176 Route 20 and there are injuries. Mercy Flight is unavailable due to weather. The location is between Brown's Mill and Molasses Hill roads. Alexander Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding along with law enforcement. One person is reportedly unconscious. The westbound lane is blocked. Bethany Fire Police are called in for traffic control.

UPDATE 1:46 p.m.: No westbound traffic from Molasses Hill Road will be allowed onto Route 20 (Broadway Road).

UPDATE 1:52 p.m.: Route 63 will be shut down at Route 20 (Texaco Town) for westbound vehicles and Pavilion Fire Police are called to provide traffic control.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m.: One person is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: The driver of the pickup truck sustained fatal injuries. The passenger was taken to Strong. The driver of the semi, which has Oklahoma plates, is not injured.

UPDATE 2:24 p.m.: A heavy wrecker is called to tow the semi, which lost all of its fluids in the crash, and has / had a weight of 79,000 pounds.

UPDATE 2:42 p.m.: The driver of the semi is being transported via Alexander ambulance to UMMC for evaluation. He was able to get out of his rig unaided and any injuries he sustained are believed to be minor.

UPDATE 3:09 p.m.: The medic tells ER personnel the man has "zero injuries" and his transport there is precautionary.

UPDATE 4:25 p.m.: Route 63 at Route 20 is being reopened. Pavilion Fire Police will be in service shortly.

UPDATE 4:29 p.m.: All of westbound Route 20 is reopened and Bethany Fire Police are going back in service.

Westbound Route 20 at T-Town briefly shut down to remove disabled big rig

In order to safely upright and remove a tractor-trailer that slid off the road on Wednesday on Route 20 east west of Transit Road, all westbound traffic is being shut down briefly at Route 20 at Texaco Town. The towing company estimates it will take about 15-20 minutes to accomplish the job. A fire police crew is asked to assemble in Bethany's fire hall and a fire police detail from Pavilion will handle traffic at the scene.

UPDATE 8:23 p.m.: Route 20 is reopened to westbound traffic.

Two-car accident with injuries reported in Byron

A two-car accident with injuries is reported in the area of 6719 N. Bergen Road, Byron.

The location is near Merrill Road.

Byron and South Byron fire departments responding.

UPDATE 9:04 a.m.: Byron chief on scene says responding units can come in non-emergency.

Hit-and-run accident reported on Lewiston Road, vehicle northbound

A hit-and-run accident is reported in the area of Galloway and Lewiston roads.

Law enforcement is looking for a gold Chevy Silverado 1500. The truck is heading north into Oakfield.

The victim vehicle sustained only minor damage.

Person struck by vehicle in front of Batavia Downs, minor injuries

A pedestrian has minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Park Road in front of the Batavia Downs Casino. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 6:41 p.m.: The suspect vehicle left the scene. It's a red Malibu, last seen heading south on Park Road. It's possibly in the Tops Market parking lot or an adjacent parking lot. The kind of damage it may have sustained is not known, nor is the gender of the driver. Deputies are scouring the area.

UPDATE 6:44 p.m.: The town fire assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 6:49 p.m.: A 42-year-old female is being transported to UMMC with unspecified injuries. She is back-boarded and collared. Meanwhile, the driver of a red Chevy Impala parked in the Auto Zone store's parking lot is being questioned by deputies, although it's unknown if this car is the one involved in the Batavia Downs incident.

Driver injured in accident on Perry Road overnight

Charges are pending against a 24-year-old driver involved in an overnight accident on Perry Road, Pavilion, who was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The medical condition of Ronald J. Tombari III, of Court Road, Pavilion, wasn't immediately available this morning during his transfer from the emergency room to another floor.

The accident report indicates he suffered a broken or dislocated hip or upper leg and was in shock and the time of the flight to Strong.

His passenger, Richard M. Sepor, 21, of Transit Road, Stafford, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to Strong.

Sepor is the registered owner of the 2002 GMC pickup Tombari was reportedly driving.

The truck was reportedly southbound on Perry Road near York Road at 12:12 a.m. when it traveled off the east shoulder and hit a tree. The truck spun off the tree and came to a stop.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Frank Bordonaro and Deputy John Weis. Pavilion fire and Mercy EMS assisted at the scene.

Car crash by Upton Monument, one minor injury

A two-car accident with possibly one minor injury is reported at 100 W. Main St., Batavia, by the Upton Monument. City fire, police and a medic are responding.

UPDATE 5:59 p.m.: Three cars were involved in this accident. Two patients are being taken to UMMC, both complaining of back and neck pain. They were buckled in the rear passenger seats of the same vehicle. One is an 8 year-old boy, the other is a 10 year-old girl.

UPDATE 6:07 p.m.: A third patient is being taken to UMMC -- a male with complaints of head and back pain. He was wearing a seat belt.

Three-car accident with rollover reported in Pembroke

A three-car accident with one car rolling over is reported on South Lake Road near Route 5.

Indian Falls and Pembroke fire departments responding. Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 8:45 p.m.: A second ambulance requested to the scene, non-emergency.

UPDATE 8:54 p.m.: One patient will be transported (we don't know where) and two people are not injured.

UPDATE 9:56 p.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls back in service. Roadway is reopened.

Woman hurt in Dec. 8 accident that claimed life of Batavia teen still in hospital

Carmen Vega, the 40-year-old Le Roy resident who was seriously injured Dec. 8 when her car was hit head-on on Route 33 in Stafford remains in Strong Memorial Hospital, but is listed in satisfactory condition.

The accident claimed the life of Collin Crane, 17, a senior at Batavia High School.

The accident remains under investigation by the State Police and no cause has been released.

Corfu teen dies in Orleans County crash Sunday night

For the second time in eight days, a motor vehicle accident has claimed the life of a Genesee County teen.

Kelsey Milks, 19, of Corfu, died Sunday night in a three-car accident on Alleghany Road, Town of Shelby, just north of the county line.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.

Milks was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Dana R. Cipra. Cipra is hospitalized at Erie County Medical Center.

Two Mercy Flight helicopters were called to the scene Sunday and Town of Alabama volunteer firefighters provided traffic control and set up a landing zone at a location in Genesee County.

According to WIVB, "a red minivan was traveling north on Route 63, near the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge Swamp, when it collided head-on with a southbound car. A third vehicle then collided with the car."

Walter C. Hawkins, 73, of Medina, was driving the minivan. He was treated and released at Medina Memorial Hospital.

The driver and passenger in the third vehicle were uninjured.

Milks was a senior at Pembroke High School when she participated in a GO ART! art show.

Accident on Galloway Road, possible injuries, pole and wires down

A motor vehicle accident, believed to be with injuries, is reported in the area of 3622 Galloway Road, Batavia.

That's just off Route 63 near Oakfield.

A pole and wires are reportedly down.

Town of Batavia along with Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 5:49 p.m.: Galloway being closed at Kelsey.

UPDATE 5:56 p.m.: No entrapment. Two patients out of the vehicle and sitting in a sergeant's car. Traffic control requested at Galloway in Lewiston. National Grid notified. No ETA.

Rollover accident reported on Judge Road, Alabama

A rollover accident has been reported on Judge Road, Alabama.

Unknown injuries at this time.

UPDATE 6:19 p.m.: One victim is out of the vehicle. Extrication was not required.

Man hit in back with tree limb in Elba

An adult male was struck by a tree limb at 6124 Quaker Hill Road in Elba. He is conscious and alert but on the ground. Mercy Medics and Elba Fire responding.

UPDATE 12:45 p.m.: Mercy Flight 6 out of Batavia responding to the scene.

Teen killed in head-on crash on Route 33, woman seriously injured

A 17-year-old was killed Saturday tonight (Dec. 8) in a two-car head-on accident on Route 33, just east of Route 237, in the Town of Stafford. It occurred at 6:20 p.m.

The driver of the other car, a 49-year-old woman, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester by Mercy Medic 1 with a severe leg injury.

The teen killed in the accident was Collin Crane, of Batavia. The female was Carmen Vega, of Le Roy, who was driving a 2002 Buick.

The young driver was westbound when his 1999 Saturn drifted into the eastbound lane, according to Sgt. Samuel Tagilenti, zone commander for the State Police.

Vega did try to avoid the accident, Tagilenti said, but the two cars hit head-on.

"You see a car coming over the line toward you, you’re going to try to move away from it, but you run out of road, and time," Tagilenti said.

No cause of the accident has been determined and Tagilenti would not offer up on possible causes.

"You could give 100 reasons and I could say it could be that, but until we can do our investigation and come up with a valid reason, we're not going to speculate," Tagilenti said.

Crane was pronounced dead at the scene by a Genesee County Coroner Barry Miller.

Stafford fire responded to the accident along with Mercy EMS. South Byron and Town of Batavia assisted with traffic control.

Exact cause of the accident and contributing circumstances are under continuing investigation.

Accident with entrapment reported at intersection of Route 33 and Route 237, Stafford

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment is reported at the intersection of Route 237 and Route 33, Stafford.

Two Mercy ambulances dispatched and Mercy Flight is on standby.

Stafford fire dispatched.

UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: Mercy Flight is not available.

UPDATE 6:33 p.m.: A trooper informs dispatch that it's a serious injury accident. A sergeant is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 6:40 p.m. (By Billie): South Byron Fire Police are called to shut down Route 33 at Griswold Road. Bergen Fire Department is requested to bring extrication equipment to the scene -- "A second set (of jaws) is needed." The accident is just east of the 33/237 intersection.

UPDATE 7:04 p.m.: The victim has been extricated.

UPDATE 10:17 p.m.: Stafford and South Byron back in service. Route 33 is reopened.
