Irene Margaret (Silver) Bow, 91, of Bergen, NY, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on March 29, 2025. Born on May 26, 1933, in Churubusco, NY, Irene wove a life of creativity, compassion, and love, leaving a lasting imprint on every heart she touched.

A professional quilter specializing in machine and hand appliqué, she found joy in every stitch, transforming fabric into cherished heirlooms. Her hands were always busy—not only quilting but also crocheting and crafting an array of handmade treasures, from hats and table runners to bags and more. She took particular pride in creating baby and preemie hats and mittens, which she lovingly donated to local hospitals.

Beyond her creative pursuits, Irene had a passion for fishing, camping, berry picking, and baking pies. In her younger years, she even participated in snowmobile racing. An avid euchre player, she passed down her love for cards to multiple generations, always reminding them to “be brave” as they learned the game. She was a dedicated member of Gilham Grant, a volunteer for St. Mary’s Resurrection Parish, Crossroads, and the Office of the Aging, always eager to lend a helping hand to her community.

Above all, Irene’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her 11 children: Debbie Zaremski, Jean Boyce, Marilyn (the late Brad) Dupree, Donald (Laurie) Bow, Ron (Diane) Bow, Randy (Christine) Bow, Cathy (Bill) Schmieder, Gloria (Gary) Martinson, Keith (Kate) Bow, Robert (the late Donna) Bow, Carolyn Bow. She was a beloved grandmother to 18 grandchildren, great-grandmother to 20, and great-great-grandmother to 3, in addition to many siblings, nieces, and nephews.

She is reunited in peace with her husband, Darrell Bow; her parents, Catherine and Lloyd Silver; and her beloved grandchildren, Kristopher Bow, Dustin Bow, Peter (wife Connie, sons Bradley and Alex) Boyce, Michael Boyce, and Kerri Schmieder.

Friends are invited to call on Friday April 4, 2025 from 4:00-7:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home 329-333 West Main St. Batavia, NY 14020. A 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday the 5th at Ascension Parish 19 Sumner St. in Batavia.

"A quilter’s legacy is woven not only in fabric but in the hearts of those she loved.” Irene’s life was a beautiful patchwork of generosity, creativity, and devotion—stitched with care like her quilts and played with charisma like her hand in euchre.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org a cause close to Irene’s heart. Charles S. Bartlett

By Lisa Ace
Charles S. Bartlett

Charles S. Bartlett, 68, of Corfu, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at home.

Charles was born December 31, 1956 in Batavia, N.Y. to the late Walter and Dorothy (Skeet) Bartlett. He graduated from Pembroke High School in 1975. He worked a few different jobs before he found his home working as a machinist for Safran in Lancaster, N.Y. for 45 years until his retirement on December 13, 2024.

He was a loving brother, father, and grandfather and was adored by his entire family. He was a kind and patient man who brought light everywhere he went. He lived life to the fullest and was always willing to help anyone in their time of need.

Nothing made him happier than his grandchildren. He got joy from attending the annual steam show with Dude and Harper Bee, wrestling with the twins on Christmas, or riding in the Annual Bartlett Easter Parade with Chase and Lacey-Rae. And although dessert was not his thing, one of his favorite days of the year was buying a maple ice cream for all his children and grandchildren at the Alexander Steam Show. These are the memories and traditions his family will continue to carry on in his legacy and always remember the wonderful man he was.

He was an Eagle Scout and a lifetime member of Darien Fire Department. He had several hobbies including beekeeping, hunting, farming, going to Bennington Lanes to enjoy the WNY Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association, going out with work friends and helping during maple season, collecting and boiling sap with his son. He loved to socialize and he could always be found spending time with his family and friends. No matter where he went, he was the life of the party and always made a point to talk to everyone. He could be found at any given time with a smile on his face and an appropriately themed earring in his ear. He always had a great story, even if you had heard it 3 times before and even if you were backing out of his driveway while he leaned in the window saying “one more thing”.

In addition to his beloved parents, he is predeceased by his niece, Mindy Beals.

Charles is survived by his 3 children, Charles (Amy) Bartlett, Jeremey (Shannon) Bartlett, and James Bartlett, his Grandchildren Conner Bartlett, Harper Bartlett, Finley Bartlett, Fern Bartlett, Chase Bartlett, and Lacey-Rae Bartlett, Sisters Lin (Skip) Bartlett-Taylor, and Carol (Patty Fletcher) Bartlett, And his long-time girlfriend, Eileen Jackson. He leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

Charles/Dad/Grandpa will be sorely missed by all. May he rest peacefully.

Family and Friends may call April 4, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu, N.Y. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Corfu, at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Alexander Boy Scout Troop 6650, Darien Fire Co., or the WNY Gas and Steam Engine Association.

James D. "Bimbo" Henry Jr.

By LaVern Falcone

James Daniel Henry Jr., 70, of LeRoy, NY, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Unity Hospital in Rochester NY, surrounded by loving family and friends after a long illness. Jim, known as “Bimbo,” to all, was born on January 3, 1955, in Batavia, NY, the son of James Daniel Henry Sr. and Beatrice Angela (Coppini) Henry.
Jim Jr., like his father, Jim Sr, was known for his warm and friendly demeanor, quick wit, desire to help others, fierce loyalty, and always up for fun and laughter. The Henrys had the pleasure of growing up on Myrtle Street in LeRoy, which was full of friendly neighbors, great mentors, fun sports, camaraderie, and daily adventure. “Bimbo” was my father’s nickname growing up when James, Jim, Jimmy, Jim-Bo, etc. manifested into Bimbo! It seemed that everyone had a nickname while growing up in LeRoy! Jim Jr. was honored to have his father’s moniker!
Jim Jr. was a 1973 graduate of LeRoy High, where he played four years of football for the Oatkan Knights in the highly successful Bob Sullivan and Don Santini coaching years. He was also a three-year wrestler for coach Bill Brooks, winning key matches at heavyweight to lead the varsity to their first ten-win season in his senior year.

jim henry

Jim Jr. studied electronic wiring at LHS which led to his fascination of Heath Kits, Scanners, Walkie-Talkies and HAM radios. His garage is a spectacular museum of tinkering. He so enjoyed tearing down and rebuilding anything in sight such as four-wheelers, engines, go-carts, mowers, and light fixtures.
After graduation, “Bimbo” worked 35 years for the Village of LeRoy in the Department of Public Works and the Water Treatment Plant. He married the love of his life in 1976, Bonnie MacIntyre, a kind and loving 1975 grad of Caledonia-Mumford High. Father, Jim Sr., married his Cal-Mum sweetheart, Bea, in 1952, so it seems that great minds think alike!
Jim Sr. brought teenage Jim Jr. to Lime Rock Speedway in the late 60’s and son “Bimbo” simply loved the look, feel, smell, and incredible energy of the venue. Sprint Cars, Quads, Motorcycles, you name it, he loved it! Bimbo had many roles at “The Rock,” and he put his heart and soul into each job. He made numerous friends at the track, life-long friends.
Bimbo and Bonnie were super blessed with a darling daughter, Taryn, in 1984, when they resided at Lake LeRoy. Many fishing tournaments and parties were held on the grounds. Having their daughter there was simply the best for Bimbo and Bonnie. Taryn now has two handsome, talented, and loving sons, James and Killian, which gave Bimbo immense pleasure and pride as he attended their hockey, lacrosse, and soccer contests.

It is very moving to see and read all the hundreds of comments that are filling up the Facebook pages regarding Bimbo’s passing. Bimbo loved LeRoy and many LeRoyans loved and cared about Bimbo. He wasn’t just a resident as he gave freely of his time to the community. He worked for seven years at the LeRoy Volunteer Ambulance (LVA) as a night shift dispatcher. He was a member of the LeRoy Fire Department for fifteen years. He was also a member of the Chemical Hose and the Oatka Fish and Game Club.

Bimbo is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie (nee MacIntyre), daughter Taryn (James Kwiatek) of Batavia, NY, and his beloved grandchildren, James Rachow and Killian Kwiatek. He is survived by brothers, George (Jennifer) of Monkton, VT, Edward (Karen) of Williamsville, NY, Gary (Susan) of Clarence Center, NY and sister, Rebecca (William) Seeley of LeRoy, NY. Also survived by brothers-in-law, James MacIntyre of Killeen, TX, Don (Jennifer) MacIntyre of Hamlin, NY and sister-in-law, Lynda (Donald) Cameron of LeRoy, NY. Other survivors include nieces, Chrissy (Chad) Gordon of Milton, VT, Angela (Jesper) Matser of Portland, OR, Lynn and Carrie MacIntrye, Lyndsay Winter and Megan Shaffer, nephews, Peter (Morgan Randall) Henry of Manchester, NH, Nicholas Henry (Marianna Marin) of Washington, DC, Jayce Seeley (Danielle Tallo) of Bergen, NY, Dalton Seeley of LeRoy, NY, the late James MacIntyre, Jason MacIntyre, Seth MacIntyre and Donald MacIntyre, as well as great nephews Bryce and Wyatt Gordon, also of Milton, VT.

There will be no calling hours or funeral.
Celebration of Life, at the convenience of the family, to be announced at a later date.

Your memories and condolences may be shared with Bimbo’s family at www.falconefuneralhome.com.

Ann Coticchio Pappalardo

By Ronald Konieczny
Pappalardo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Coticchio Pappalardo, who left us peacefully on March 23rd at the age of 85. Born in Batavia, she was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Lucy Coticchio.

Ann led an extraordinary life. A breast cancer survivor since 2000, she faced a heart attack in 2014. Yet just two months later, she was dancing in the 20th row at a Rolling Stones concert in Buffalo. She was a true fashionista, a passionate food lover, and a wine connoisseur. Her love for the arts took her to the opera, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the theatre. Music was the soundtrack of her life — from Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles to the Chairman of the Board himself, Francis Albert Sinatra.

She adored her Italian heritage and everything that came with it. A travel enthusiast, Ann explored nearly every corner of the world except Antarctica. Her favorite destination was always Florence. She ventured to places that are now too dangerous to visit and cruised across the Atlantic more than once, even flying on the Concorde.

A devoted motorsports fan, Ann followed Formula 1 with enthusiasm, and every Memorial Day, you could find her passionately cheering on the Indy 500. In the last three years, she proudly became a Buffalo Bills fan, never missing a game — even pre-season — in her Bills shirt.

But above all, Ann loved her family. She cherished the big, all-day Italian dinners, surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and laughter. Now, she is reunited with her parents, grandmother, and many beloved family members. No doubt, a grand table has been set for her, complete with an abundance of food and vino.

Ann will be deeply missed by her children, Gerry Pappalardo and Julie Pappalardo (Michelle Zirna); her brother, Tom Coticchio; her daughter-in-law, Deborah Pappalardo; numerous nieces nephew, about a half a million cousins and her cherished best friend of 80 years, Ceil Morette who lovingly helped care for her in her last months.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Buffalo Palliative Care and Hospice in her name.

Her life was a celebration, and her memory will forever be a blessing.

A Celebration of Life will be held in May in Batavia. More details will be shared at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.mcandrewfuneralhomes.net.

Mary Shepard MacIntyre of Stafford, NY passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 24th, 2025, at the age of 70. A caregiver to all, Mary pursued a career in nursing and graduated at the top of her class.  Her compassion extended beyond her career, as she lovingly embraced the role of caregiver to family, friends, and anyone in need.  Those who knew her best called her a “living angel”.

Mary also shared a love for antique hunting with her dear friend (partner in crime) Darla, turning each outing into an adventure filled with laughter and unforgettable stories.  She had a quick wit and was known for her sense of humor--when you spent time with her, you were probably laughing.  She volunteered at animal shelters, often bringing home new family pets, and enjoyed knitting, quilting, and painting.  She found joy in spoiling her many grandchildren.

Mary shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Robert MacIntyre who, like her, was a dedicated nurse with a heart for helping others.  She was also a devoted mother to Bris Robinson (Jill), Maggie Hoo Kim (Jamie), Mitchell Robinson (Rebecca), Kristopher MacIntyre (Katie), Stacy MacIntyre Elliott (Molly), and David MacIntyre (Laura), and she always cherished the memory of her beloved daughter, Kellie.  Mary is remembered by her sisters, Nancy Hubbart (Larry), Elaine Calhoun (Brian), and Sally Hicks (Ted) and preceded in death by her father, Harold Shepard; mother, Esther Shepard; brother, Jim Shepard (Florence) and sister, Christine Shepard.

Calling hours will be on Monday, March 31st from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St Rd (Rt 19), LeRoy, NY, 14482.  A private burial will be held at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Genesee County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1621, Batavia, N.Y. 14021 (www.vol4animals.org  585-343-6410) in her memory.
