A Mexican citizen barred from ever entering the United States again after serving a prison term on a rape conviction has pled guilty to re-entry after deportation in federal court.
Jose Maria Agustin, 43, arrested in Elba a year ago following a raid of a property by the Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security, faces a possible sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
In 2009, Agustin was convicted in California of forcible rape and assault with a deadly weapon. After serving a five-year prison term he was deported.
Agustin was located in Elba following an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Sheriff's Office. He was arrested locally on a charge of sex offender failing to report a new address. He had not registered in New York and was working in the United States without authorization.
hi jose, welcome to new york
hi jose, welcome to new york you're going to love it here.... everything is free for you bud, enjoy.
The farmer that hired him
The farmer that hired him should be in jail too. Scum like this would stop coming to the United States is there was no work available for them. Ever had to fill out an I-9 form when you started a new job? Apparently Jose never had to.
Don Patterson.
Don Patterson.
"The farmer that hired him..."?
What farmer, Don?
I didn't see any mention of a farmer.
Or, even the mention of a farm.
You do realize, don't you, that not every property in Elba is a farm?
Yes, the link included in the post gave the address of the immigration raid, and, that address may well be that of a farm (I wouldn't know). But, I didn't see anything that said he was working for a farmer.
the president elect has
the president elect has warned us about mexico sending their rapists and murderers into the U.S. being the country we have become, we must welcome these people, we must feed and clothe these people. we must shelter and insure the well being of these people. mexico and all countries give us your murders, give us your rapists, give us your terrorists, the U.S. will provide for their well being..... the illegal immigrant has more friggin rights than I do and I was born here. .... I know, I need to shut up and keep paying the bills.. the governor needs another billion for the illegal immigrant defense fund.
Hey Ed... what do YOU see if
Hey Ed... what do YOU see if you poke that address into a Google search?
I see Google's marker putting that address out in a field behind a fairly large farm operation. However, if you bump the address either up or down by two digits it moves Google's marker out to the road. That would make ME think it's a "tenant's house". Do you remember what a "tenant's house" is and who occupies them Ed?
Hi, Ed. Yep, I just poked
Hi, Ed. Yep, I just poked that address into Google. You are correct. It's a field behind what appears to be a farm.
As for a tenant house, I DO remember what they are. In fact, I currently live in one. I'm a tenant. Don't know what that has to do with farming. Trust me, I'm not farming anything.
Truth is, even if I were interested in farming, there would only be one crop I'd be trying to cultivate. And, no, it wouldn't be onions OR cabbage!
We're in the midst of the
We're in the midst of the computer age where everything is connected to everything else. I don't know why we can't have a sensible immigration policy that ensures a sufficient labor supply and keeps known criminals out.
Because, Howard, until we can
Because, Howard, until we can somehow control who strolls across our borders, having "sensible immigration policy" does little to stop criminals from coming here.
As for the subject of the post, Jose Maria Agustin, I am still wondering why words like "labor supply" and "farmer" are being used in connection to it (the post/comments).
Nowhere have I read anything about Jose Maria Agustin that points to anything but "forcible rape and assault". I certainly haven't seen anything that said he was ever in this country to work.
