Programs include performances, workshops, residencies, and field trips with cultural organizations that make use of the arts as a text to achieve Common Core State Standard benchmarks at any grade level.
Eligible schools must be located in one of the eight counties of Western New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming.
Up to 90 percent of residency program costs will be covered for selected schools thanks to funding from Fund for the Arts.

David, I've added a link to
David, I've added a link to the Arts Partners for Learning at the bottom of the post.
According to its Web page:
"APL is a regional partnership that was formed in 2011 with support from the Fund for the Arts, John R. Oishei Foundation, and Young Audiences, Inc. with the vision to create opportunities for arts and cultural organizations and professional artists to work with schools and ultimately improve the educational outcomes for children.
"Led by a Leadership Team composed of leaders from the arts, cultural, education, and philanthropic sectors of Western New York, APL aims to bring arts and cultural programs to schools that are standards-based and integrated throughout the curriculum.
"Now in its eighth year, APL comprises over 20 partners from the arts and cultural community who offer over 30 programs to area schools. APL hosts professional development events for partners and others seeking best practices from across the country to improve the educational outcomes for students."
Partners include: Arts Services Initiative, Theatre Alliance of Buffalo, Greater Buffalo Cultural Alliance, Cultural Alliance of Niagara, and the New York Council on the Arts. The state council provides annual grants to fund arts education programming.
David, the arts are a proven and effective means of teaching children a variety of subjects and they make learning fun and creative. I see nothing sketchy about that.
Billie, this is a good story
Billie, this is a good story and I agree the arts are an effective means to teach. Art can take many different forms that once learned can last a lifetime... thanks for the reply....didn't mean to offend the three thumbs down, just asking a question.
