You are invited to a delicious dinner to benefit the Oakfield Alabama Central School Varsity Basketball Cheerleaders on Friday, Feb. 5, at the school cafeteria. Time is 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $10. Fundraiser to benefit cancer victim Buddy Oderkirk Jr. at City Slickers Bar & Grill, all tips go to offset his medical expenses

Local business City Slickers Bar & Grill, 59 Main St., Batavia, will host a fundraiser this Saturday evening from 8 until closing for Buddy Oderkirk Jr., a 19 year old Batavia resident who was diagnosed this spring with a rare form of cancer known as alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. All tips during the night will be go toward Buddy’s medical costs and treatments. He has been undergoing an intense regimen of chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries since being diagnosed. Even with medical insurance the family has endured thousands of dollars of out of pocket e

Gala opening of 14th annual Wonderland of Trees at Holland Land Office Museum

The Holland Land Office Museum’s 14th Annual Wonderland of Trees will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20th. General admission is $25 per person or $20 for Museum members. There will be live Christmas music, a 50/50 raffle, silent aucition, basket raffle, catering by D&R Depot, and nearly 40 Christmas trees and displays thanks to the generosity of you, our community.

Volunteers for Animals Fall Fur Adoption Event in celebration of Petco’s 50th Anniversary

Adoption prices for all adult dogs and cats is half off this Saturday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Petco in Batavia. The event, sponsored by Volunteers for Animals of the Genesee County Animal Shelter, is being held to celebrate Petco’s 50th anniversary. Volunteers will be the Petco and at the Animal Shelter for Saturday’s adoption event. Plus, enter to win a $50 Petco gift card! All animal have been tested, vaccinated and most are spayed/neutered. There is a $35 refundable deposit upon proof of sterilization.

Join the 2017 Genesee County CROP HUNGER WALK – Saturday, April 29th at the Corfu United Presbyterian Church, 63 Alleghany Road, Corfu. This 5K (3.2 mi) walk is a great opportunity for the whole family to walk together and learn about the issues of hunger here at home and around the world. CROP Hunger Walks are annual events that take place in 2000 communities around the country taking a stand against hunger. In the last 20 years, walks have raised over $264 million for Church World Service to assist those struggling to feed their families.
