Both drivers taken by Mercy Flight following two-car crash in Pembroke

Both drivers in a weather-related two-car crash in Pembroke were taken by Mercy Flight to the Erie County Medical Center this morning.

The condition of both drivers is unknown at this time. A spokesman for ECMC said both patients are currently in the emergency room.

One driver apparently lost control of her car, reportedly over corrected and spun about 90 degrees, skidding into the oncoming traffic lane. Her SUV rolled over.

Injured were Jessica Maurer, 22, of 2033 Main Road, Corfu, and Patricia A. Warren, 51, of 748 Gabbey Road, Corfu.

Maurer's Chevy was westbound on Route 5 in the area of Boyce Road. The accident occurred at 7:07 a.m..

Maurer was driving vehicle one, a 2004 Chevrolet SUV and Warren was driving vehicle two, a 2005 Chevrolet SUV.  Maurer received a ticket for allegedly driving too fast under the conditions.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Brian Thompson.

Man injured riding ATV on old railroad tracks

A Le Roy man who was riding his ATV on abandoned railroad tracks was hurt Sunday when his ATV hit a rock and became airborne, landing on his foot.

Jeffery L. Bowker, 45, was riding along a half-mile of unused track north of Route 5 in Stafford at 4:30 p.m. when the accident occurred.

Bowker was taken to UMMC. The accident remains under investigation.

Deputy injured in two-vehicle accident in Alabama

A Sheriff's deputy was injured in a two-vehicle accident on MacComber Road this evening.

Deputy Kevin McCarthy suffered minor cuts and a possible concussion in the accident which occurred at 5:26 p.m..

McCarthy's patrol car struck a 1999 Ford pickup truck that three people pushed out onto MacComber Road a mile north of Townline Road in Alabama.

The three people managed to jump clear of the truck before the collision. A 17-year-old, Chase E. Winkstern, of 8344 Powers Road, was reportedly behind the while of the disabled pickup truck. He was not injured.

The disabled pickup truck was being pushed out from the front lawn of 7286 MacComber Road. A second pickup truck was parked facing north in the northbound lane with its headlights on. It was not struck.

Both trucks are reportedly owned by Del-Mar Farms, 3111 Pratt Road, Batavia.

McCarthy was transported by Mercy EMS to UMMC where he was treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation. The Sheriff's Office press release listed no possible charges and didn't say whether charges are being considered.

Batavia girl injured in fall from second floor window

After a fall from a second-story window, a two-year-old girl has been taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight.

The unidentified girl fell at 8:50 a.m. from the window of a residence at 45 Central Avenue.

Batavia Police looking for hit-and-run driver who sent cyclist to hospital

A 55-year-old Batavia man is in the hospital tonight after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Center Street.

The unidentified victim was riding a three-wheel bicycle at about 5:52 p.m. on Center near School Street.

He was transported to the hospital via Mercy Flight and suffered internal injuries.

The vehicle that hit the cyclist was described as a dark colored, possibly black, older pickup truck. The driver fled the scene and may have turned south on Jackson Street from Ellicott Street.

Anybody with information about the accident are asked to call the Batavia Police at 345-6350.

Woman says deer hit her car after she hit house

A driver reportedly lost control of her car, hit a house on Swamp Road and then left the scene of accident, according to a Sheriff's Office accident report.

She reportedly told Deputy Frank Bordonaro that after striking a tree and a house, a deer ran into her car.

Deborah S. Mayo, 43, of 7008 Swamp Road, Byron, is the reported driver. According to the report, she was not injured.

Mayo was charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, failure to reduce speed for a curve and leaving the scene of an accident involving an animal.

According to the report, Mayo was driving in the area of 6657 Swamp Road at about 11:07 p.m..

Motorcyclist who hit deer in satisfactory condition

A motorcyclist is in satisfactory condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after hitting a deer on Route 19 yesterday.

Jeffery Dorris, 43, of 54 Perry Ave., Warsaw, was traveling southbound on Route 19 in Pavilion at 6:11 p.m. when his bike hit the deer. Dorris was ejected forward and the motorcycle landed on top of him.

Truck off road, in swamp off Batavia-Oakfield

A pickup truck has reportedly gone off the road in the area of 2964 Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road.

The truck is reportedly in a swamp area.

No report on injuries.

Pedestrian struck by truck on Summit Street

A pedestrian has been hit by a dump truck in the area of 29 Summit St., Batavia.

The initial report had people trying to help her get up.

Mercy EMS and Batavia Fire and Police are responding.

UPDATE 2:54 p.m.: The person struck was not walking, but on a bicycle.

Alleged hit-and-run driver strikes pedestrian in Stafford

A pedestrian was hit by an alleged hit-and-run driver Saturday at 6:14 p.m. on Route 5 in Stafford.

Richard D. Sanderson, 24, of 5563 Broadway Road, East Bethany, said he was walking along the road when a car crossed the white fog line and struck him with the passenger side mirror.

The mirror struck his hip.

Sanderson was transported to UMMC.

The driver has not been identified and no further description of the vehicle was released.

Driver who fled scene of Walker Road accident still at large

A driver involved in an accident on Walker Road last night apparently fled the scene and is still at large this morning.

A helicopter from the Erie County Sheriff's Department was brought in to help locate the suspect and law enforcement officers searched the area on the ground, but the suspect was not found by 2 a.m. and the search was called off.

Investigators are following up this morning, trying to contact the possible driver.

The plates on the car came back to a man from Hamilton, Ohio. A small amount of blood was found on the air bags.

The car came off the road at a curve and hit an embankment. Sheriff Gary Maha said the cause of the accident was likely unsafe speed.

Driver trying to hide following accident in Alexander

Alexander Fire and Darien Ambulance as well as law enforcement are being dispatched to a motor-vehicle accident at 2198 Walker Road.

The driver is reportedly trying to avoid detection. His air bags deployed and there is reportedly blood on the air bags.

The driver is trying to hide in some weeds.

UPDATE 11:31 p.m.: The car has Ohio plates. The driver is not currently in sight. Fire personnel are heading to the area with flares and night-vision goggles.

UPDATE 11:55 p.m.: Because of the size of the area, law enforcement has been unable to seal off the area. The search continues.

UPDATE 11:58 p.m.: A K-9 is not available. The State Police helicopter is being called in.

Hit-and-run driver causes rollover accident on Route 20

A blue pickup on Route 20 has reportedly hit a car, causing it to roll over, on Route 20 in Bethany.

The truck is reportedly eastbound on Route 20.

The car was reportedly rear-ended by the truck. The truck will have front-end damage.

The injuries are reported as minor.

Bethany Fire and Mercy EMS are responding.

Car accident involving pedestrian reported at East Main and Swan streets

A motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian was reported at 9:04 p.m. at East Main and Swan streets in the City of Batavia. At 9:06 p.m., a medic crew and police were on scene.

UPDATE: 9:21 p.m.: a female pedestrian is reported to have minor abrasions and lacerations on her hands as a result of the accident. She is being transported to UMMC via ambulance.

Car reportedly run off the road on Ridge Road, Elba

There were apparently no injuries in a one-car accident reported about 10 minutes ago in Elba, even though the car was run off the road into a ditch and turned on its side.

Law enforcement was called to the scene because the driver claimed another vehicle forced him off the roadway.

The accident occurred in the area of 4270 Ridge Road.

Emergency crews respond to tractor-trailer driver on Thruway

Emergency crews from Pembroke and Indian Falls are heading to the Thruway to mile marker 403, westbound, to aid the driver of a tractor-trailer. He's reported to be out of the rig, covered with a blanket and dizzy. State Police are on scene.
