Man says he was struck by a car near Bloomingdale Road

A man is reporting that he was struck by a car somewhere in the area of Martin Road and Bloomingdale Road, Alabama.

He says he's in a ditch, just came to and doesn't remember anything.

He is walking toward Western Doors store.

Law enforcement and Alabama Fire being dispatched.

UPDATE 10:45 p.m.: The accident may have happened in the area of 379 Martin Road. The man reportedly has a head injury. Mercy Flight is being put on stand by.

UPDATE 10:58 p.m.: Five minute ETA for Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 11:09 p.m.: Mercy Flight on the ground.

UPDATE 11:21 p.m.: Mercy Flight in the air.

Car smoking following accident on South Main

A car accident in the area of 189 South Main St., Batavia, has left one vehicle smoking.

Traffic is not blocked and there are no injuries.

City Fire is responding.

UPDATE 10:02 a.m.: Police on scene reports there just seems to be spilled radiator fluid.

Rollover accident on Thruway, minor injuries

There is a rollover accident reported on the Thruway near mile marker 396 in the westbound lane.

Minor injuries reported.

The vehicle rolled twice and hit another car in the service center.  The driver is conscious and alert.

Le Roy Fire and Ambulance are responding.

One-car rollover in Corfu, no injuries

A one-car rollover accident was reported about 10 minutes ago on Route 77 in Corfu, just north of the village.

It knocked down an electrical power line, and possibly damaged a transformer. National Grid has been notified and is expected to arrive on scene in about 20-25 minutes ago.

Apparently there were no injuries. The medic is back in service. Corfu Fire responded.

Rear-end accident reported at West Main and Lyon, Batavia

A two-car, rear-end accident is reported at West Main Street and Lyon streets, Batavia.

There are no reported injuries, but a mother is requesting that EMS evaluate her child who was in an child safety seat.

Two-vehicle accident in Pembroke

A two-vehicle accident, blocking the roadway, is reported at West Main and Allegany Roads in Pembroke.

Elderly driver hits tree on Route 5, near Indian Falls Road

A car has slammed into a pole at 2023 Route 5. The elderly male driver is injured and reportedly incoherant. The caller stated the car was being driven erratically before leaving the roadway and hitting the tree. So this accident may be due to medical reasons.

The location is between Cleveland and Indian Falls roads. The pole is said to be sheared at the base but it remains upright and nothing is blocking the roadway.

East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

Driver who fled scene of Oak Street accident not yet identified

The man who owns a silver Mustang involved in a one-car accident on the edge of the Oak Street roundabout last week says he wasn't driving the car at the time of the accident.

The driver fled the scene.

There were two witnesses of the driver running from the car, according to Officer Ed Mileham, but neither witness could positively identify the driver after looking at photo line ups.

"Right now, it's just an unauthorized use," Mileham said.

The owner of the car reported it stolen the morning after the accident.

The name of vehicle owner has not been released.

Motor-vehicle accident on Oak Street, Batavia

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at 23 Oak St., at the intersection with Prospect Avenue. It involves three vehicles, none of which are blocking the roadway.

There is one minor injury and another person is "shaken up" because of the incident.

City fire and Mercy medics are on scene.

UPDATE (12:24 p.m.): City fire is clearing the scene, back in service.

UPDATE (12:28 p.m.): Two people are transported to UMMC with minor injuries and/or to be evaluated. Personnel on scene reported that two vehicles had only "brush marks" as a result of the incident. The other vehicle had minor damage.

Three-car accident reported on Thruway

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported on the Thruway, eastbound lane between mile markers 402 and 404.

Pembroke and Indian Falls Fire  with Mercy EMS being dispatched.

The Pembroke chief warns that responders should be aware that the Route 77 bridge over the Thruway is very slick.

On scene, the chief reports three vehicles involved. No word yet on injuries.

UPDATE 9:04 a.m.: Everybody is out of the cars and walking around. One person may have an eye injury.

UPDATE 9:14 a.m.: A second ambulance is requested to the scene.

Man hit by car on Center Street

UPDATE 11 a.m.

A 61-year-old Rochester man was hit by a car at about 8 a.m. on Center Street, Batavia.

The driver of the car said he was looking further up the road and just didn't see the man until it was too late.

The man was walking diagonally across Center Street with his back to the northbound car.

"The driver just didn't see the pedestrian," said Sgt. Robert Yaeger, who added that visibility was a little lower at the time of the accident. "It's just one of those things. It's an unfortunate accident."

No citations were issued, though the accident remains under investigation.

Injured was Paul H. Wypych, of Rockingham Drive, Rochester. The driver is identified as Dennis A. Weibel, of Route 38, Castile.

Wypych was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where at 11 a.m. he was still being evaluated.

'Car into tree' accident reported on Council House Road

A caller has reported finding a car that hit a tree and is now on its side in the area of 470 Council House Road.

The caller reports finding blood, but can't see any person around, at least not in the dark.

Alabama Fire and Mercy EMS being dispatched.

UPDATE 12:13 a.m.: Alabama chief reports no victim at the scene. He confirms, the car is on its side.

Alleged failure to yield blamed for accident

A driver allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way, leading to a minor injury accident at the intersection of Bank Street Road and South Bennett Heights yesterday morning.

The 7:57 a.m. accident sent Tonya L. Passamonte, 45, of Washington Avenue, Batavia, to UMMC, but neither the driver nor the passenger of the other car were injured.

According to a report prepared by Deputy Chris Parker, a 2003 Dodge pickup driven by Elizabeth A. Bruns, 42, of South Bennett Heights, Batavia, was westbound from South Bennett Heights when she "failed to yield the right-of-way" at the intersection, rolling past the stop sign.

The report does not list any citations issued.

Passamonte was driving a 2008 Chevy SUV.

Bruns' passenger was 16-year-old Mary C. Boerschlein.

Two cars collide at the roundabout

A two-vehicle accident is reported at the roundabout in Batavia. There are injuries and Mercy EMS and the Batavia Fire Department are responding. Batavia police are on scene, at South Main and Walnut streets.

UPDATE (6:45 p.m.): Personnel there say extrication is needed.

UPDATE (7:05 p.m.): The "extrication" consisted of prying back a dented door to allow the passenger inside to get out. Injuries are minor. This accident involved a minivan and a four-door sedan.

Truck and minivan crash at routes 63 and 19

An accident involving a minivan and a pickup truck is reported at routes 63 and 19. The truck is blocking southbound traffic.

One person is said to have a broken arm, another facial injuries.

Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding. An ambulance from Le Roy is also called to respond.
