Head-on collision reported on Route 63 in Alabama

A two-vehicle, head-on collision is reported in the area of 6436 Alleghany Road, Alabama.

Injuries are reported.

Mercy Flight #8 out of Buffalo is on ground standby.

UPDATE 10:58 a.m.: Indian Falls Fire requested to Route 77 and Route 63 intersection to shut down northbound traffic.

UPDATE 11:03 a.m.: Two patients, a second ambulance requested to the scene.  Mercy Flight can stand down.

Driver says he was using CB radio prior to collision in Alexander

A driver told a deputy he was distracted by his CB radio prior to an accident on Sandpit Road in Alexander at 4:40 p.m., Monday.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries. 

Phillip J. Gorny, 53, of Creek Road, Batavia, driving a 2004 Dodge pickup, struck a 2007 Chevrolet SUV driven by 64-year-old Linda Hulshoff, of Broadway Road, Alexander.

Gorny was reportedly northbound on Sandpit Road and allegedly failed to yield to Hulshoff, who was eastbound on Route 20.  His pickup struck the SUV in the area of the passenger side front fender.

Deputy Jeremy McClellan, who investigated the accident, issued Gorny a traffic citation for alleged failure to yield.

Person sustains life-threatening injuries in crash on Thruway

On Thursday, March 17, 2022, at approximately 6:38 p.m., State Police responded to a report of a serious injury crash on I-90 westbound in the town of Batavia, Genesee County.

The crash occurred in the area of mile marker 389.7, between the Le Roy and Batavia exits.  

A preliminary investigation determined the crash involved a tractor-trailer and an SUV.  As a result of the collision, the SUV became fully engulfed in flames.  One individual was flown to the hospital by Medicac with life-threatening injuries and two others were transported by ambulance for serious injuries. 

All westbound lanes are currently closed.  Traffic is being diverted at exit 47 (Le Roy) until accident reconstruction has been completed.  

More information will be released when it becomes available.

Accident with entrapment reported on Thruway in Le Roy

Accident reported at Central and Jackson, Batavia

Traffic is blocked.

A possible neck injury reported.

UPDATE 5:41 p.m.: Four people involved, all expected to be signoffs. Minor damage to vehicles.

Car reportedly hits house on Batavia Oakfield Townline Road

A car has reportedly hit a house at 3113 Batavia Oakfield Townline Road, Oakfield.

No word on injuries.

Dispatchers were contacted by a third-party caller.

Oakfield Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 3:51 p.m.: No damage to the structure. Minor damage to another vehicle. 

UPDATE 3:53 p.m.: Mercy EMS can cancel its response.

Possible minor injuries in accident on Route 33

A two-vehicle accident, blocking, with possible minor injuries, at Clinton Street Road and Route 237 in Stafford.

Accident with entrapment reported in Le Roy

A two-car accident, with possible entrapment in both vehicles, is reported at South Lake Route and Vallance Road, or possibly for I-490 on-ramp, in Le Roy.

UPDATE 4:45 p.m.: A first responder on scene reports that one person self-extricated with minor injuries.  Fire requested to continue for traffic control.

Car into tree accident reported on Bloomingdale Road, Basom

A car has reportedly hit a tree in the area of 1192 Bloomingdale Road, Basom.

There may be an injury.

UPDATE 3:15 p.m.: Vehicle off the road, side-impact, a first responder is checking for injuries.

UPDATE 3:16 p.m.: One patient with a head laceration. 

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: Extrication will be required.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: Mercy Flight requested to the scene.  It will be Mercy Flight #7 out of Buffalo.

UPDATE 3:37 p.m.: Indian Falls Fire dispatched mutual aid. Mercy Flight is on the ground.

UPDATE 3:44 p.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls are back in service.

Accident reported on I-490

A one-vehicle accident with the driver possibly slumped over in the driver's seat is reported on the I-490 in Bergen in the area of mile marker 1.6.

The vehicle is off the roadway of the westbound lane.

Bergen Fire and Le Roy Fire along with Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 4:16 p.m.: The vehicle was apparently unoccupied. Mercy EMS is back in service with no patient to transport.  

UPDATE 4:17 p.m.: Law enforcement is checking on multiple vehicles that are off the road.

Truck jackknifed on Route 33, Byron

A tractor trailer is off the road report of the overturned at Route 33 and Old State Road in Byron.

There was reportedly air deployment, and the initial report said there was injury that a first responder on scene says there are no entries.

The truck reportedly jackknifed.

Byron and South Byron along with Mercy EMS responding. Crews can respond nonemergency.

A pedestrian reportedly hit on West Main Street, Batavia

Dispatchers have received at least two calls about a car striking a pedestrian, including a call from the driver of the car, in the area of 306 West Main St., Batavia.

The location is at Lyon Street.

City Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 4:38 p.m.: Sgt. Mitch Cowen said it appeared the pedestrian, a male, was not in a crosswalk and crossing "against traffic."  An eastbound vehicle apparently stopped him to cross blocking him from the view of another eastbound vehicle in the other lane.  The pedestrian sustained a non-life-threatening head injury and was conscious. He is being transported to UMMC for evaluation and treatment.

Power lines down in Oakfield, Main Street being closed

Some sort of vehicle passing through Oakfield heading toward Batavia has taken down power lines across Main Street in Oakfield.

The roadway is being closed in the area of Dollar General.

Oakfield Fire is responding.

UPDATE 12:25 p.m.: A National Grid crew, apparently not the assigned crew, is on scene: "happened to be in the area and is going to check it out."

Car into pole accident reported on Fotch Road, Stafford

Corfu man dies in Saturday morning crash on Route 77 in Pembroke

The Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at 3:05 a.m., Saturday, on Route 77 in the Town of Pembroke.

Jordan E. Terkel, 32, of Corfu, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Terkel's vehicle was reportedly southbound on Route 77 when it traveled off the south shoulder of the roadway and hit a utility pole. 

Coroner Karen Lang pronounced Terkel dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The Sheriff's Crash Management Team is investigating the accident. 

Pembroke Fire and Indian Falls Fire assisted at the scene.
