She was a dedicated daughter and mother and took great joy in her furry family of three dogs.  She indulged in salty food, hot dogs and pizza.  She traveled extensively and spent many wonderful weeks throughout Italy.  After retiring from Kodak after many decades, she took to the skies as a flight attendant for Comair/Delta Connection until her retirement.  She had a quirky sense of humor and while quick with an opinion, she was always willing to lend a helping hand.   Raised in Attica, New York, other than a small stint in Kentucky, she lived her adult live among family and friends in Batavia and Elba, New York.

She is survived by son, Michael Little (wife, Barbara); daughter, Jennifer Little-Sherman (husband, Daniel); 2 grand children and 2 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sisters, Sandy Flint (husband, George) and Susan Nowak, and numerous nieces and nephews

Edwin C. Rogers, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of LeRoy, died on August 11th, after a long illness.  He was predeceased by his parents, Blasé and Florence Rogers, of LeRoy.  He is survived by his sisters, Marguerite Green, of LeRoy and Elizabeth Estes, of Caledonia, and his brothers, Lawrence, of Boynton Beach, FL and William, of LeRoy, several nieces and nephews in the area.. In addition,he was survived by a very good friend and caregiver, Sam Meli, of Lakeland, FL.
Funeral services were arranged in Florida.

Cecelia Maxwell, 87, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. Ann's Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Cecelia enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandsons. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Joseph Maxwell, and also her son, Dennis Maxwell and daughter Pamela VanBuren.
Cecelia is survived by a brother, Henry Bomhoff of Washington. A daughter, Bernadette Maxwell of Irondequoit. Two grandchildren, Chasity VanBuren (Joshua) of Oakfield. Jason VanBuren of Batavia, and 3 great grandsons, Josiah, Cayden, and Colton all of Oakfield. She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held Saturday, August 15, grave side, at St Cecilia's Cemetary at 11 AM. Service is open to all family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Mary Ann Boyd, 85 of Batavia passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

She was born May 19, 1930 in Batavia, New York, the daughter of the late John and Ruth Ramsey Pickert.

Mrs. Boyd was a lifelong Batavia resident, who worked for Metropolitan Insurance after graduating from Batavia High School. After raising her four children, she then went on to work as a secretary for the Batavia City Fire Department. She retired from the fire department in 1995 and considered the force there her “second family”.

Mary Ann loved her family, and was a dedicated member of Saint Mary’s church, where she was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. In the past, she volunteered on the cleaning committee for the church and also in local nursing homes. She was a lover and avid supporter of all animals. Her two current cats “Hope” and “Bandit” were always a constant topic of conversation even during her recent illness. Her caring heart will be forever remembered by all she loved.

Mrs. Boyd’s loving husband of 65 years, Ronald E. Boyd passed away on July 9, 2015.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald J (Betsy) Boyd of Raleigh, NC, Daniel M. (Shirley) Boyd of Batavia, and Michael J Boyd of Batavia. One daughter, Suzanne (Steven) Kabel of Black Mountain, NC. Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Boyd is also survived by her brother-in-law Gilbert Boyd and sister-in-law June Wolcott, both of Batavia. She was also the sister to the late John Pickert Jr. and Ruth Pickert Briggs.

There are no prior calling hours. Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 9:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 18 Ellicott Street in Batavia. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Diane (Eick) Phelps, a son, Kyle (Lindsay Matz) of West Palm Beach, FL, a daughter, Carrie of Rochester, NY, and a daughter Lindsey (Ryan) Mating of West Palm Beach, FL.  Paul was the oldest of six children, and grew up on a family farm in Indian Falls, NY.  He is survived by brothers Joel Phelps of Yuba City, CA, Eric (Juliet) Phelps of Corfu, NY, Karl (Tracey) Phelps of Bergen, NY, sister, Hope (Michael) Gault of Hermon, NY, sister-in-law, Diane Phelps of Lockport, NY, step mother, Opal Clemm Phelps of Batavia, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Norman Phelps, Jr. in 2012.

Paul was a graduate of Pembroke High School Class of 1973, and 1975 graduate of Alfred Agriculture and Technology College.  He was employed by US Gypsum for 34 years and part time employee at Kreher’s Sunrise Farm in Pembroke, NY. 

Paul was a devoted Christian who had a passion for youth and children’s ministry. Over many years Paul served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and camp counselor. He currently served as a leader for the Northgate Free Methodist Church Bible Trek Program. Paul was also very involved in his community, serving as a coach for the Akron Youth Soccer league, a stat keeper for Pembroke High School Athletics, and a volunteer for the Genesee County 4-H program. Additionally, Paul offered his time as a member of the Pembroke Town Planning Committee, and Grievance board. Paul touched many lives through his joyful acts of service, willing heart and pledge of kindness towards others.

Paul’s greatest love was spending time with his family, and sharing in his children’s passions. He cherished watching them play in every athletic event, sing in musicals, and show livestock at county and state fairs. Not only did he take pride in being a devoted and loving husband to Diane, but also being his children’s number one supporter. Paul’s life was truly driven by his dedication to God, his beloved wife, children and family. He will be missed by many.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday August 14^th, 2015 at Northgate Free Methodist Church located at 8160 Bank Street, Batavia, NY.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Phelps family. These memorial contributions will be distributed amongst Paul’s most beloved organizations.

Paul was a proud WWII Army veteran having been awarded a Bronze Star for bravery during combat in the European Theatre. Upon his discharge from the service he returned home and started a milk hauling business with his brother Carl. He and his wife relocated to Oakfield in 1953 where they lived for 50 years and where they raised their family. Paul was a mechanic at several area car dealerships and upon his ‘retirement’ from that profession, he started driving trucks for several local construction companies. He loved driving trucks and was still actively employed driving 10-wheel dump trucks when he was 85 years old. By his work ethic and love of family he set a fantastic example for his children and grandchildren to follow. Paul loved hunting and spending time at his cabin in the Oak Orchard swamp. He was an avid NASCAR fan with Dale Earnhardt Sr. being his favorite driver. Paul loved playing golf with family and friends, especially with his grandsons. In his later years he and Belva took several trips to Florida and the Midwest to visit friends and relatives. The family also wishes to express their profound thanks to the staff at UMMC for the care that Paul received during his recent hospital stays. The staff could not have been more caring, compassionate and professional and it is deeply appreciated.

He is survived by his children David (Pamela) Meyer of Batavia; Robert Meyer of Rochester; sisters Anne Smith of East Aurora, Theresa Kinney of Strykersville; grandchildren Jason (Kristen) Meyer of Saratoga Springs, Erica (Chad) Minuto of Batavia, Matthew (Michele) Meyer of Stafford, Nicolette Meyer of Chicago; great-grandchildren Camryn, Jackson Meyer; Sophia, Landon Minuto; Miles, Lena Meyer. It is safe to say that he loved those kids as much as life itself and many nieces and nephews.

He was a 1974 graduate of Pembroke High School. Dennis first worked for Dave Brace Displays as a painter, where he found his love for working on and painting vehicles. He then went to the Police Academy and started his career in law enforcement with the New York State Park Mounted Police. Dennis was the Chief of Police for the Corfu Police Department for over 20 years as well as a New York State Park Ranger. He was a kind and caring man, always willing to help anyone in need. Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Gardner) Yueckstock; devoted daughter, Jennifer Petry; grandchildren, LJ and Julia Petry; his sister, Elaine (Falker) Eick; his brother, Charles “Buddy” (Laura) Yueckstock and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends may call Monday, August 17, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc., 4 East Main Street, Corfu and Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m.at the Pembroke Community Center (Corfu Fire Hall) 116 East Main Street, Corfu. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.

   Age 90, died peacefully Saturday August 8, 2015 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. Mr. Amend was born in Germany on March 28, 1925, a son of the late Engelbert and Mathilda (Guthord) Amend, also preceded in death by his son, James Amend and daughter, Arlene Underhill.

   Mr. Amend worked for Symington-Wayne Corp. in Depew, NY for many years as a steel inspector. A farmer at heart, he was an avid gardener, loved being outdoors and was constantly "tinkering" with something or bottling his homemade wine.

   Surviving is his former wife, Rita (Graff) Amend; son, Karl (Roxanne) Amend of Darien Center; daughters, Kathleen (Volker) Schaal of Lancaster and Diane (Dennis) Yaple of Alexander; brother, Richard (Alfreda) Amend of N. Tonawanda; sisters, Josephine Paulter of Alden and Matilda Sangbush of FL; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The family will be present from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday August 11, 2015 at the MICHAEL S.    Age 70, of Batavia, NY, well known area harness horse driver and trainer died Tuesday August 4, 2015 at his home. He was born November 11, 1944 in Pittsford, NY a son of the late Louis W. and Florence (Hall) Filer, also preceded in death by a brother, Adrian.      

   Jan from an early age had an attraction to the harness horse racing circuit and that carried him all over the East Coast, racing some of the best trotters around. Simply put, "racing was his life", he celebrated 50 years in the business in 2012 and was a member of the WNY Harness Horseman's Association.

   He is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah (Todd) Dibble of Batavia and Shauna (Brendan) Blake of Byron; grandson, Pasquale (Justina) Rapone III of New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Carter Joseph and Mason Jay; brother, Barrett Filer of Pittsford; sister, Evonne Filer-Zummo of Palm Springs, CA along with several nieces and nephews.     

   The family will be present from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. on Thursday August 13, 2015 at the MICHAEL S.    Age 97, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday August 6, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. Sophie was born in Batavia, NY on April 14, 1918, a daughter of the late John and Wanda (Sikorski) Zaremski Reimer, also preceded in death by her husband , Leon R. Morien in 2010; son, Lance Morien in 2009 and brother, Henry Zaremski.

   She was formally employed by Chapins, Doehler-Jarvis and the Batavia Daily News, but most of her married life she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong member of Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart) and its Altar & Rosary Society along with the Falconette's.

   Surviving is her loving daughter, Linda (James) Nalbach of Batavia; son, Randy (Sue) Morien of Honeoye Falls, NY and daughter-in-law, Irene Morien of Phoenixville, PA; grandchildren, Jay (Kelly) Nalbach of Portland, OR, Eric (Sarah) Nalbach of Buffalo, Chelsey (Darren) McGlinchey of CO, Karlie Morien of Phoenixville, PA, Anna & Riley Morien of Honeoye Falls, NY; great-grandchildren, Isabella & Hayley Morien, Victor & Ivy Nalbach; sister, Helen Tomski of Batavia; brother, Raymond Zaremski of Conshohocken, PA; sisters-in-law, Rosalie (Gerald) Sullivan of N.
