Mrs. Salisbury was born February 6, 1920 in Churchville, a daughter of the late Alexander and Isabel (Gibson) Steedman.

Mildred attended Roberts Beauty School, graduating in July 1939.  After which she owned Mildred’s Beauty Shop in Bergen for many years.  She retired at the age of 92, after 70 years as a hairdresser.  Upon which, the rolls changed: her daughter began to do Mildred’s hair every week.  She was the oldest living member of the Hesperus Chapter #823 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Bergen Evangelical Presbyterian Church. 

She was a resident of Sunset Beach, Waterport for 68 years.  Mildred loved to work in her flower beds and truly enjoyed her grandkids, and devoted daughter. 

Mrs. Salisbury is the wife of the late Milton Salisbury, who passed away in 1997.

Surviving is her daughter, Jane Oshea-Slack of Bergen; and two grandsons, Charles (fiancé Riley Wathen) Slack of San Francisco, CA, and Michael Slack of Bergen.

Mildred is preceded in death by a son, Charles Salisbury; a sister, Gertrude (late George) Denneville, and sons-in-law, Phil Oshea, and Michael P. Slack.

Friends may call on Saturday (June 24, 2017) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 S. Lake St., Bergen, where Mildred’s Funeral Service will immediately follow calling hours at 4:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Mt. Rest Cemetery, Bergen.

Annette was a 1978 graduate of Letchworth Central High School. She was a dialysis secretary for Noyes Memorial Hospital (Dialysis Center) in Geneseo. She was a volunteer for many years for Special Olympics. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family. She enjoyed life and was the center of attention at any function.

She is survived by her husband Kevin M. Cwiklinski whom she married in 1995; 2 daughters Erika Lorenz of Castile and Valerie (Timothy) Miller of Castile; a son Keith Gierke Jr. of Corfu; 2 sisters Theresa Damonti of Erie, PA., Gina Wetmore of Pike; 2 brothers Lance Wetmore of Perry and Mark Wetmore of Sharon, PA.; 3 grandchildren Alyssa Fox, Bryce Lorenz and Ayden Miller, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brad was a 1982 graduate of Coco High School in Coco, Florida. He was a self employed carpenter. Brad was a member of the Western New York Gas and Steam Engine Association, Niagara Trail Riders, Silver Lake Historical Preservation Society, Silver Lake Institute where he was a trustee and Silver Lake Pioneer Association. He enjoyed doing carpentry, mechanic, and welding work. Brad also enjoyed restoring vintage motorcycles as well as any type of antique engine. If something was broke Brad enjoyed the challenge to get it working. He volunteered for over 20 years at the Wyoming County Fair in their historical exhibits. He enjoyed riding his motor bike where he would race at Pavilion Motorcross.

He is survived by his wife: Lisa (Shepherd) Hennig whom he married on November 19, 1994, his children: Evan and Evelyn Hennig at home, his mother and father-in-law: Clifton (Lorna) Shepherd of Dansville, 3 sisters: Kay (Ronald) Harmon of South Byron and Silver Lake, Lynn (Craig) Bateman of Silver Lake and Kathie( Daniel) Moyles of Charlotte, NC, a brother: Leigh (Dawn) Hennig of Seattle, WA, a sister-in-law: Melissa (Sheldon) Omans of Dansville along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was born February 16, 1952 in Perry, NY, a son of the late Marion and Alfreda Plaza Rowinski.

Mark enjoyed model trains and accumulated a large collection of trains over his lifetime. He was an avid fan of the Batavia Muckdogs, attending home games regularly and was a strong supporter of the Buffalo Bills, Bisons and Sabres.  He was a member of Ascension Parish in Batavia. Mark will be missed by all who knew him and the friendships he gained over the years.

He is survived by his cousin, Thomas Plaza of Sioux City, Iowa and several friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday (June 21^st) from 4-6pm at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 11:00am at Ascension Parish (corner of Swan and Sumner Streets). Interment will follow next to his parents in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Loretta was a 1940 graduate of Alexander High School and editor of the school’s first yearbook.  She graduated from Rochester Business Institute with a business/secretarial degree.  She retired from NYS Office of Real Property Tax Services in 1991 and was an Avon Representative for 50 years, starting in1967.   Loretta was an active member of Ss. Joachim and Anne Parish, Attica, NY, in the past serving as an officer in the Altar & Rosary Society, Bishop’s Committee to aid new mothers, funeral luncheon committee, and library volunteer and Home School Association member at GWCCS Catholic School.  She was awarded “Fan of the Year” at Alexander Central School in 2005 for her support and attendance at her granddaughters’ sports events and was also active in the Red Hats Express. Loretta had a wonderful sense of humor throughout her life.  She loved music, books, and writing, but her biggest joy came from being with her family. 

She will be greatly missed by her children, Veronica (Robert) Frost, Catherine (George) Uhly, and Thomas Schum, granddaughters Katrina Uhly (husband Christian), Laura Uhly (fiancé John Swinton), and Diana Uhly (fiancé Brett Shirley), great-granddaughter Evelyne, sister-in-law Margaret Schum, and many nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Kenneth (Eva) Kriger, Dorothy (Floyd) Welker, Veronica Kriger, and Francis (Marjorie) Kriger.

Kathleen graduated from Attica High School class of 1949 and attended Rochester Business Institute. She worked in the Attica Village Office for 40 years, 30 of which she was Village Clerk. She was a lifetime member of Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish in Attica.

She is survived by her sister Maureen M. (Robert) Kirby of Attica; three nephews Gregory R. of Mr. Laurel, NJ; Stephen G. of Buffalo and Brian (Lori) Kirby of Orchard Park, along with their families.

Steven D. Pierson, age 62, of Perry, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday June 16, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with his family by his side. He was born in Warsaw, New York on July 13, 1954 a son to Gladys (Brown) Pierson of Perry and the late Gordon Pierson. Along with his father he is preceded in death by 2 brothers James and Thomas Pierson and brother-in-law: Todd Mazzarella

Steve was a 1972 graduate of Perry Central High School. He was a self employed crop farmer who loved to work. He was a great teacher whether it was about farming or his Bible based hope.

He is survived by his wife; Terry (Mazzarella) Pierson whom he married on October 20, 1973;  3 daughters  Amy (Todd) Wheaton of Penfield, Jessica (David) Johnson of Baldwinsville, Leslie (Max) Norman of Leicester; a son Seth Pierson of Lima; 10 grandchildren Connery, Jonathon, Jacob, Brandyn, Maryssa, Collin, Riley, Gage ”Bob”, Nicholas and Nolan; his mother Gladys Pierson of Perry; sister Jeanine Pierson of Warsaw; sisters-in-law Tracy (Mark) Calvert of Florida, Tina(David) Kramell of Wyoming, Lucy Pierson of Perry; brother-in-law Tammy Mazzarella of Florida, along with several nieces and nephews.

Joyce worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill and retired from Archway Cookie Co. She enjoyed knitting, doing various crafts and traveling each winter to Florida with her late husband.

Mrs. Renz was a lifelong member of Resurrection Parish. She enjoyed cooking, baking and spending time with her family. Josephine’s grandchildren were the love of her life.

As a young woman, Billie held interesting jobs that fit her vivacious character. Through her high school years she worked as a housekeeper and nanny for Fran Striker, an American writer for radio and comics, best known for creating the Lone Ranger, Green Hornet, and Sgt. Preston of the Yukon characters. During World War II she was employed by Curtiss-Wright Aircraft where she drove scooters on the runway and joined her pilot friends on countless test flights before being promoted to Executive Secretary for management.  In 1946 she married her childhood sweetheart, Clarence Sheer, and they had a long and happy life on their farm. Always working together, they grew and sold sweet corn, pumpkins and squash, operated a cattle hauling business and were award winning sellers of seed to farmers across the Wyoming County for over 35 years. Billie was well known for her skills in the kitchen and especially for her fudge. She was often referred to as the “fudge lady”. She was an avid card player and loved nothing more than a competitive but fun game of cards with her bridge club friends of more than 60 years. Billie was a woman of great faith. Her laughter could light up a room. Billie was loved by family and friends alike and will be greatly missed. She will above all be missed by her beloved grandchildren who referred to her as “big grandma”, not because of her stature, but because of her big heart.

Billie is survived by her children; Pat (late Tom) Standish of Strykersville, Beverly (Richard Jr.) Herman of Varysburg, Jeanne (David) Dobinski of S. Wales, Donna (Patrick) Harrington of N. Java and Fran (Harold) Bush of Silver Springs; 6 grandchildren, Kristine (Larry) Wheeler, Richard (Ronda) Herman III, Troy (Jessica) Standish, Connie Herman, Ali Dobinski and Meg Dobinski. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was a 1955 graduate of Silver Springs School. She worked for the former Perry Knitting Mill and G & L Laundry in Perry. She retired from the former Champion Products in Perry after 30 years of service. She was a former member of the Perry Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Wyoming Valley Antique Car Club. She enjoyed bird watching, tending to her flower gardens and loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter; Cindy (James F. “Rick”) Bramer of Warsaw; son James (Charlene) Van Allen of Perry; sister Evelyn Hamilton of Leicester; 2 sisters-in-law Carolyn Van Allen of Perry and June Green of Silver Springs; 4 grandchildren Tim (Jenny) Bramer, Michael (Jess) Bramer, Christina (Jim Slusser) Briggs, and Sarah Briggs; 5 great grandchildren Rowan, Keegan and Brooklynn Bramer, Noah and Logan Preen, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Age 91, died peacefully Friday June 9, 2017 at Premier Genesee Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a brief illness. He was born February 11, 1926 in Buffalo, NY to the late Walter (Frances Mehnert) Doehring, also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth in 2014 and brother, Donald in 2015. 

Walter loved to reminisce about spending summers with his brother at their grandparent's house in Linden, NY when they were young. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman/Telegrapher (1944-1946). Walter was hired as one of the original faculty members when the Genesee Community College opened its doors in September of 1967. A Professor of Accounting, he retired after 30+ years. He will be remembered by the many students he taught over the years. His children will always remember the summer camping trips when Dad would always insist on "taking the road less travelled". 

Surviving are his eight children, James  (Richard Episcopo), Thomas (Steven Chalfant), Jack (Gareth), Daniel (Anna), Andrew (Sandra), Sarah, Rachel (David) Fasano, William (Phoebe); five grandchildren, William, Matthew, Zalya, Stella and Erin.

Corfu - Mary Rose Silliman, 88, of Corfu, passed away Friday (June 9, 2017) at United Memorial Medical Center, Batavia.

 

Mary was born September 15, 1928, in Wethersfield, NY, one of 11 children of William and Mabel Niver Rosborough. She was the last surviving of her brothers and sisters. Mary was the wife of the late Everett Silliman and grandmother of the late Mary Silliman. She loved going to church and seeing all her friends there and going to the daycare she attended. 

 

Surviving are her children, Elizabeth Ryan, Raymond Silliman, Ruby Silliman and Harry Silliman; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Batavia - Anne Marie Bush, 53, of Batavia, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday under the care of HomeCare & Hospice and her family.

She was born November 9, 1963 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Thomas D. Emerson, Sr. and Marie O'Keefe.

A registered nurse for 12 years, she most recently was working at the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Service in Albion. 

She is survived by her husband, Ralph J.  Bush; her children, Christian (Matthew) Townes of Perry, Brandon Culliton and Bryan (Brooke) Culliton, both of Batavia; six grandchildren, Eithan & Eli, Chloe and Peyton & Austin; her children’s father, Michael K. Culliton, Jr.; three brothers: Thomas D. Emerson, Jr. of Oklahoma, Dennis Emerson of Hawaii and James Emerson of Batavia; two sisters: Patricia M. Caleb of Medina and Kathryn Keenan of Farmington; 20 nieces and nephews, 19 great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is predeceased by her niece, Melissa Mae Emerson and her brother-in-law, Bruce Caleb.

There are no prior visiting hours.
