T.J. was born on November 7, 1964, in Batavia, a son of the late Frederick Shaut, Sr. and Arleda “Pete” Lynk Shaut.

A diehard fan of the New York Yankees, T.J. loved to cook, enjoyed a cold beer and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sister, Tammy Samanka of Batavia; nieces and nephews, Wayne Samanka, Courtney Samanka, Kali Samanka and Jessica Shaut; four great-nieces and great-nephews and longtime family friend, Bill Preston.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Fred Shaut and Raymond F. Shaut.

There are no prior visiting hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Douglas W. Johnston, 63 of Attica, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at his home. Doug was born on July 25, 1958, in Batavia, NY to the late Robert C. Johnston of Batavia and Hazel (Baubie) Johnston of Oakfield. He is also preceded in death by a stepsister; Sheila (Worthington) Morse of Alexander.

He graduated from Batavia High School. Doug was a contractor working in various fields throughout his lifetime. He was an avid woodworker and landscaper.

Doug is survived by his wife, Katherine (Muniak) Johnston, his children Eric D. Johnston, Anthony R. Johnston and Kassandra R. (John) Naples, and his stepmother Nancy (Charles) Slaven. He is also survived by brothers Robert K. (Judy) Johnston of Rochester, Charles (LeAnne) Johnston of Mumford, David (Dawn) Johnston of Batavia, Steven (Cyndi) Johnston of Jacksonville, Florida, Daniel (Leslie) Johnston of Stafford and Scott (Margaux) Johnston of Oakfield; sisters Sherryl (Greg) Shultz of Bethany, Sandra (Rick) Kosciolek of Batavia, and Pamela (Rance) Choate of Attica. Batavia ~ Mary A. Wingate, age 86, of Clinton Street Road, passed away Sunday morning (December 26, 2021) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

     She was born July 14, 1935 in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of the late Julius and Beatrice (Preziuso) Musilli.

     Mary retired as a Toll Collector from the N.Y.S. Thruway Authority in 1999.  She was devoted to family and friends, her faith and was an active member of the church.

     Mary will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

     She will be sadly missed by her daughters, June Embert (Donald Vick) of DE, Janice (Luis) Cotto of Batavia and Susan (Stephen) Patruska of OK; daughter-in-law, Susan Gardner of Batavia; sister-in-law, Irene Musilli of Cheektowaga; former husband, Ralph Gardner of Clarence; grandchildren, Nicholas (Mary Ellen) Embert, Jacquelyn (William) Sofia, Michelle Gardner and Stephanie (Joseph) Krause; 9 great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and many treasured friends.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Wingate; son, Kenneth Gardner; brother, Oliver Musilli and dear friend, Joseph Stella.

     Family and friends are invited to her Rite of Christian Burial on Friday, Dec. 31 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter's Church, 44 Lake St., LeRoy. (Facemasks are required to be worn inside the church)  Interment will follow in the Mumford Rural Cemetery.

Joanne was born November 26, 1931 in Medina, a daughter of the late George and Margaret Goldsmith.

Joanne enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, soap operas and the Buffalo Bills.  

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret (Rick) Stanley; a sister, Norma Newton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Maten Scroger, son, Terry Scroger and a great-granddaughter, Anna Scroger.

Services for Joanne will be held privately at St. Cecilia's Cemetery in Oakfield.

As a lifelong Batavia native, Margie spent her early working years as a cook in the Food Service Department at St. Jerome Hospital.  She then became a beloved team member in the meat department at Tops Friendly Markets where she happily worked until retirement.  Under both job titles, she could always be found fully engaged in joyful conversations with co-workers, friends, or any new people she came in contact with. 

When at home, Margie was almost always found in the kitchen preparing a range of her signature food items and was especially known for her Sunday Sauce.  These preparations routinely included special deliveries to her friends and family in Batavia.  Margie was best known for her seemingly endless love for family and friends.  In particular, she was always eager to enjoy long conversations with her children and grandchildren consistently filled with laughs, hugs, and Margie’s unique expressions. 

Margie is predeceased by her husband, Robert Bower, nine siblings including Nunzio, Frank, James, Carmen, and Cornelius Longobardi, Lena Cappiello, Theresa Suozzi, Mary Cavalieri, and Antionette Giganti.  She is survived by five children including Louis (Missy) Andolora, Kathy (Rick) Leas, Glen (Cheryl) Andolora, Sheila (John) Hollwedel, and Lisa (Duane) Prine as well as thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Sandy retired from the ARC in Elba and volunteered for many years at East Shelby Bible Church. She was a loving and caring woman that adored children, especially her granddaughters, nieces and nephews. Sandy loved camping, chocolate, beagles and the casino. She will be missed at lunch with her lady friends and her Wednesday night rendezvous friends dinner group.

Sandy is survived by her beloved husband Gary Sanford of Oakfield, children, Rebecca (Cory) Heiden of St. Louis, MO, David (Fiance Sherry Woodrich) Sanford of Greece; sisters, Anna (Donald) Ip of Gibsonville, NC, Sherry Coe of Batavia; granddaughters, Julia Heiden of Philadelphia, PA and Abigail Heiden of St. Petersburg, FL; along with many nieces and nephews.

Pat was born on January 24, 1941, in Batavia, a daughter of the late George and Bertha Washburn Toal.

Pat´s servant heart and caring soul endeared her to everyone she met.  A member of The First Presbyterian Church of Elba, she had held the position of Deacon.  Pat was also a longtime member of The Elba Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, celebrating 50 years of participation and service, with an impressive 44 years of running the Bingo Kitchen on Tuesday nights.  Many will remember her for making the best macaroni salad for Rec Hall events.  She also served as an election inspector, a den mother, and proudly provided the absolute best care for her many grandchildren.  An avid lover of puzzles, reading, and afternoon tea, she enjoyed a simple life focused on the family she had raised.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James A. Baldwin, Sr. of Elba; her children, Amy (Sam) Mooney of Oakfield, Gregory J. (Lori) Baldwin, Jr. of Holley, Peggy (David) Shuknecht and James A. (Bonnie) Baldwin, Jr., both of Elba; eight grandchildren, Renee Mooney, Sarah Mooney and Corey Mooney, all of Oakfield, Gregory J. Baldwin, Jr. of Holley, MSgt.  Brian (Elizabeth) Baldwin, USAF, who is currently stationed in Georgia, Brian (Elizabeth) Shuknecht of Elba, Daniel (Katelyn Cooper) Shuknecht  of Pavilion and Hannah and Joshua Baldwin, both of Elba; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dave (late Shirley) Toal of Fulton, Ron (Cheryl) Toal of Elba; her sister, Shirley (Mike) Heatherman of LeRoy and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Christen L. Baldwin who passed away on June 18, 2016.

He was born in Cheektowaga, NY, a son of the late Leonard and Helen Hejna Koszuta.

Joseph Koszuta lived a fulfilled life. He and Sharon are married for 43 years and grew their family with Annette and Brian. He enjoyed taking the family on road trips and camping. He truly loved his wife. He was a pillar for his children. He was an active ‘DziaJoe’ to his four grandchildren. He would stage treasure hunts, play on the floor with Lego, snack on junk food, teach paracord bracelets and so much more. Joe was an active leader in Akron Boy Scout Troop 559, which led him to hike parts of the Appalachian Trail. He was truly an outdoors enthusiast. A respected auto technician of 45 years, he never stopped learning and transitioned to advisor at Dave Smith Ford. Joseph was an all-around kind person. He would do his best to help out family and friends. He was resourceful and always found the good in everyone and every situation.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ritter Koszuta of Akron. Daughter, Annette (Jason) Sweet of Lancaster. Son, Brian (Lori) Koszuta of Lancaster. Mother in-law, Carol Ritter. Siblings, Marilyn (Tony) Procaccini of Cheektowaga, Donald (Kathleen) Koszuta of Florida and Thomas (Lynn) Koszuta of Cheektowaga. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers in-law, sisters in-law and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Judy Frys. Mother in-law and father in-law, Helen Ritter and John Ritter Sr.

Elaine J. Rademacher, 65, of Attica, passed away unexpectedly on Monday December 20, 2021. She was born on June 12, 1956 in Buffalo to the late Edward and Joan (Tatu) Badding. Elaine is preceded in death by her beloved husband Peter C. Rademacher, as well as her brother, James (Michelle) Badding of West Falls.

Elaine, affectionately known as ‘Duke,’ was the first of five children and grew up in West Falls, New York. She graduated from East Aurora High School and was happily married to Peter for nearly 40 years. Together they had two children, Amanda (Shannon) Wood of Cibolo, TX, and Matthew (Lee) Rademacher of Wyoming, NY. She was also blessed with 5 grandchildren – Mackenzie, Madeline, Logan, Wyatt and Stanley.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is also survived by her siblings Patricia Badding of Branchburg, NJ, Andy (Kathleen) Badding of Buffalo, and Richard Badding of Buffalo, as well as niece and nephew Kelsey and Jacob Badding

Annapolis, MD ~ Shannon Anne Spillane, age 63, formerly of LeRoy, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

     She was born March 15, 1958 in Batavia, a daughter of Ursula Drayo Spillane and the late Donald E. Spillane.

     Shannon will be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend, who was beautiful in so many different ways.  She was smart, fun, energetic, welcoming and extremely compassionate.  She had a special love for the many dogs in need of homes in her area and so she, along with her husband, Tom, rescued many of them over the years.

     She will be sadly missed by her husband, Thomas J. Welsh; her mother, Ursula Spillane of LeRoy; her sister, Shawn (Joseph) Siconolfi of Rochester; nephews, Nicholas Vincent and Tyler Siconolfi; special cousins, Vicki (David) Clark, Kevin (Barbara) Klinkbeil and Kristopher (Catherine) Klinkbeil; her brother's companion, Johanna Buran, her many beloved canine companions, along with many other relatives and dear friends.

     She was predeceased by her father, Donald, brother, Brendan "Mickey" and her aunt and uncle, Rachel and William Klinkbeil.

Batavia - Eileen L. Biaselli, 63  of Batavia passed away on Wednesday, (December 15, 2021) at home.

Mrs. Biaselli was born June 15, 1958 in Batavia.

Eileen enjoyed decorating, music, and reading. She loved to cook, camp, and watch various TV shows and movies. She had a love for animals and greatly liked playing board games.

Surviving are her mother, Geraldine (Albert) Bartz of Florida; husband, John W. Biaselli of Batavia; children, Amy (Michael) Sorensen of Florida, Jeremy (Janelle) Warren of Rochester; granddaughters, Makayla and Makenna Sorensen; brothers, Greg (Sherryl) Shultz of East Bethany, Randy (Beth) Bartz of Florida, and Tommy (Sue) Shultz of Batavia; sisters, Krista (Steve) Mosicicki of Florida, Rosemary (Anthony) Shultz-Leverette of Tennessee, Kimberly (Rick) Flowers of Pembroke, and Andrea (Aaron) Schafer of Florida. Several nieces and nephews she loved and adored also survive.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Larry Shultz, Jr.

She was born April 5, 1933 in Batavia, a daughter of the late James and Louise Scamocca Mocciaro.

Josephine, or as she preferred to be called “Jo,” had a life full of family holidays and traditions which she enjoyed and looked forward to each year. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren swimming in the pool, having visits from them and watching them grow up. Baking, making sauce, gardening and painting were part of her creative personality which show up in her family members. Jo was always up for a laugh and had a wit and humor that could catch you off guard. She loved going for car rides to get ice cream with her husband and always asked visitors if they wanted an ice cream treat. 

She was predeceased by her son, Richard Colombo, four sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Robert Colombo of Batavia. Daughters, Barbara (late Ronald) Speed of Rochester, Janis (Brian) Palmer of Batavia and Joann (John) Baiocco of Batavia. Sisters, Nicolette Ozzimo, Carolyn Maliszewski and Anita Dziekan. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.

George W. Smith, 79 of Batavia, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021. He was born on June 16, 1942 in Buffalo to the late Lawrence (Bernice Egger) Smith Sr.

George worked at the ARC in Batavia for many years. He was a Civil War History Buff, he enjoyed hunting, guns, tractor pulls, dancing and going to concerts with Joann and Daniel. George will be remembered as extremely funny, right up to the end.

George is survived by two siblings, Mary Rykert of Attica, Larry (Mary) Smith Jr. of Darien Center; five nieces, Joann (Daniel) Robb of Perry, Mary (Joe) Wolf of Derby, Vickie (Duane) McVay of Oakfield, Dorothy (Rhett) Richmond of Pavilion, Ronnie Rykert of Attica.
