She was born on June 16, 1921, in Vine Valley, NY, to the late Fred and Hazel Lamphier Hadsell.

Blanche worked most of her life at the Seneca Ordnance, Barden and Robeson Basket Factory, and Penn Yan Hospital before retiring. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, ceramics and playing Yahtzee. She was known among family members as a great story teller. Her pride and joy in life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence W. Brown, son, Richard, daughter, Bonnie Hall, granddaughter, Valerie Morgan and grandson, Darryl Brown. Survivors include her son, Ronald (Barbara) Brown, of Lady Lake, FL, daughter in-law, Betty Brown of Wildwood, FL, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren.

She would wish to acknowledge all the help and support given to her by her grandson, Chris, his wife, Julie Hall, their daughter, Tessa and loyal family friend, Laurie Bush.

Floyd was born on June 9, 1930 in Indian Falls, New York. He was the son of Loren and Beulah Meiser. Floyd served in the Air Force.  

He married his loving wife, Virginia (Jean) Meiser (nee Geitner). They celebrated their 64th anniversary in June 2017. They resided in Oakfield, New York where he and his brother, Leo Meiser, ran Meiser Chevrolet, a successful business that was founded by their father, Loren Meiser. After retiring from business in 1978 Floyd pursued his passions -- golf, travel and family. 

Floyd is preceded in death by his brother Leo Meiser and his sister Alice Childs.

Floyd is survived by his wife Virginia (Jean) Meiser, daughters Jeri Thomas (Ron), Barbara Stracener and his son Larry Meiser (Donneda). Floyd will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Becky, Misty, Melanie, Bethany, Nadia, Sheri, Evan, Christopher, Phillip and eight great-grandchildren.

At Floyd's request there will be no services or calling hours. Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Flowers are gratefully declined.

A private burial will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.

Batavia - Mrs. Alice E. Vanelli, age 95, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at her home in Batavia surrounded by her loving family under the care of HomeCare & Hospice.

Mrs. Vanelli was born November 8, 1922 in Caledonia, a daughter of the late William and Etta Garry Henry.

Her husband, Joseph Frank Vanelli, passed away on June 15, 2012.

She is survived by her daughter, Darcia (David) Barone of Batavia; four grandchildren, David (Tonya) Barone, Holly (Scott) Pownall, Marybeth (Justin McGirr) Stefani and Timothy (Courtney Bobzien) Barone all of Batavia; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jared and Adrianna Barone, Matthew and Kyle Pownall,  Justin and Alyse McGirr and Jemma Barone; two sisters, Edith (Tony) Vianese of Lima and Arlene Chiarolanza of Lakeside, California; her brother-in-law, Donald (Loretta) Vanelli of Batavia; three sisters-in-law, Betty Martinez and Betty Vanelli, both of Batavia and Helen Henry of Caledonia; along with several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her grandson Steven Michael Barone who passed away in 1996 and her siblings; George, Francis, William, Robert and Kenneth Henry, Eleanor Redinger, Marian Brew, Doris Henry, Viola DeBoover and Elizabeth Gibson.

TOPSHAM, MAINE – Phyllis Lyeth Schneider, 82, died Sunday night, February 4, 2018 in Topsham, Maine.

A deeply caring and accomplished person, Phyllis was born in the Adirondacks on January 1, 1936, the daughter of Robert and Florence (Jarvis) Lyeth. Phyllis grew up Lake Clear, NY, and attended high school in Saranac Lake before graduating from the New York State College for Teachers in Albany with an A.B. in Social Studies. On April 7, 1956, she married Clayton Joseph Schneider Jr. at St. John’s of the Wilderness Church in Lake Clear and together they eventually settled in Elma, NY to raise their family.

Phyllis started her career as a teacher of English and Social Studies in Cohoes, NY, before taking time off to raise her family. Once her children got a little older, Phyllis completed master's and Ph.D. degrees in Education at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), writing as her doctoral dissertation, The Effect of Viewing Favorable and Unfavorable Depictions of the Elderly on the Attitudes of Children. Phyllis also served as a lecturer at UB, and as a teacher of remedial reading and subsequently an instructor of teacher in-service workshops in Depew, NY, before finishing her career as the Elementary School Principal of Elba (NY) Central Schools. Phyllis was active in the New York State Reading Association for many years, an organization assisting school administrators and teachers in improving the reading skills of New York’s students. She served as President for multiple terms, and organized reading conferences across the State.

Phyllis enjoyed camping both in the Adirondacks at Fish Creek / Rollins Pond, and on the family’s woodland in Rushford, NY, along with candlemaking and jigsaw puzzles, but her favorite activity was spending time with her family. She and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a 2006 Caribbean cruise with her children/their spouses and her grandchildren.

Phyllis and Clayton enjoyed travelling, particularly their cruise in Alaska and their trip to Hawaii. Shortly after retirement, she and her husband moved to Sumner, Maine, where they lived for the twelve years before Clayton’s passing on April 12, 2016. More recently, Phyllis resided in Auburn and finally in Topsham, Maine. Phyllis and Clayton were parishioners at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Auburn. She was a loving, devoted, patient, and industrious wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Phyllis leaves behind her three children and their spouses; four grandchildren, and a brother. Prayers for Phyllis would be greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to your favorite charity to honor Phyllis’s memory. There will be a funeral mass and burial in Saranac Lake in the spring.

Batavia - Timothy K. Dick, 56, of Batavia, a manager at Kmart in Rochester, died Monday, February 5, 2018 at Batavia Health Care Center in Batavia.
Mr. Dick was born September 12, 1961 in Batavia, a son of the late Alan and Helen (Eisenhower) Dick.
He was active in the Pembroke Youth Association, Head Scorer at the Genesee Speedway and was a member of the Genesee County Fish & Game Protective Association at Godfrey's Pond.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.  He was known as a good family man and was always there for his friends and family.  
He is survived by his wife, Darralee M. (Gill) Dick, whom he married on September 10, 1983; a son, Shawn P. Dick of Rochester; a daughter and daughter-in-law: Kimberly E. Dick (Jalena Dunphy) of Phoenix AZ; a grandson, Johnathan Dick of Holley; 4 brothers, Richard (Sonia) Dick of Hamlin, Gary (Patricia) Dick of Williamson and Alan "Steve" (Terry) Dick of Alexander; a sister, Mary Jo (George) Davis of Batavia; a brother, Eden Moyer of FL; and close friends, David & Becky Conlin; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Gregory Dick and Patrick Dick.

Jerry was a paratrooper with the United States Army.  During his service he received Sharpshooter and Good Conduct Medals as well as his parachutist badge.  He was an avid outdoorsman and was a long time member of Genesee County Fish & Game Protective Association (Godfrey’s Pond).  He enjoyed NASCAR racing and in his early years raced stock cars.  Jerry had a green thumb and could often be found tending to his garden.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved children, Susan (Keith) Boyle of Stafford and David Kellogg of Honeoye; sister, Grace Kellogg of Tryon, NC; brother, James (Dawn) Kellogg of Central Square, NY; grandchildren, Connor and Evan Boyle; along with several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will be held privately. He will be laid to rest in Western New York National Cemetery, Pembroke.

She was born July 9, 1958 in Salamanca, NY, a daughter of the late Nancy Boberg Goranson.

Julie was a former Veterinary Assistant for the Jamestown Veterinary Hospital and was recently employed by Goodwill in Brockport, NY. She was a loving and caring person and adored her family especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her sons, Jason Quilliam of Batavia and Nicholas (Katelyn) Quilliam of LeRoy. Grandchildren, Bailey Quilliam, Peyton Quilliam, Austin Quilliam, Seth Quilliam and granddaughter Madison Quilliam who is expected to arrive in April. Sisters, Carol Severn and Jan Swanson , both of Jamestown. Father of her children, Stephen Quilliam of Batavia, companion, Mark Gardner of Holley and her adored cat, Mazy.

She was predeceased by her brother, John Goranson.

Floyd was a 1946 graduate of Perry High School.  He was a self-employed dairy and crop farmer. At the age of 20 Floyd rented 50 acres to start his career in farming, in 1950 he bought the former Sowerby Farm in Silver Springs. He was a cutting-edge farmer having the first carousel milking parlor in the state and was one of the largest dairy farms in Wyoming County at that time. He was also a dealer for Cargill Seed Co. He was an active member of FFA in and after high school and was a past president in 1948. A member of the Castile Community Club and Wyoming County Farm Bureau. Mr. Voorhees lived and breathed farming. He enjoyed going to dances, playing euchre and bridge, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Mary (David) Crockett of Nottinghoam, NH, Jane (Thomas Kowasz) Voorhees of Perry, son: Stephen Voorhees of Perry, 8 grandchildren: Katie Lucero, Rebecca (Bill) Thornhill-Crockett, Mark (Jessica Morey)Crockett, Matthew (Janelle) Hennard, Justin and Nathan Voorhees, Christen (Dan) Feiler and Zachary Kowasz, 4 great grandchildren: Gavin and Noah Hennard, Levi Voorhees and Jack Feiler, sister-in-law: Vivian V. Mason, along with many nieces and nephews.

Age 85, died peacefully on Monday January 29, 2018 at Buffalo General Hospital with his son, Thad L. Cotter by his side. He was born October 4, 1932 in Akron, NY a son of the late Anthony and Bronislawa (Piotrowski) Wyder also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Wyder, Sr.                                                                         

Edward graduated from Akron High School and owned and operated the Wyder family farm in Alabama Center for many years. Upon his marriage to Joyce, he joined her in owning and operating her business, Joyce's Racing Silks until his retirement. Ed enjoyed fishing with his brother and collecting knives. 

Surviving is his beloved wife of 45 years, Joyce L. (Mattocks) Wyder of Akron; son/daughter-in-law and caretakers, Thad L. (Marites) Cotter of Akron, 3 step-children, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Stanley Wyder of Batavia and Victoria Graves of Akron along with several nieces and nephews. 

Per Ed's wishes there is no prior visitation and funeral services will be held privately by the family. Memorial contributions in his memory are suggested to the family and he will be laid to rest in the Wyder family plot at Grand View Cemetery.

LESTER D. "SPOTTED DAWG" CRAWFORD ~ Corfu

Age 62, of Corfu was called to Heaven Monday January 29, 2017 at United Memorial Medical Center because God's Bulldozer needed repairs. He was born in November 11, 1955 in Batavia, NY a son of C. Denzil Crawford of Corfu and the late Faith Crawford. 

Lester worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and along with his former wife, Robin operated a rental outlet in Marble Falls, TX. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, "Dawg Gone." 

Surviving along with his father are his brothers, Greg (Charlotte) Crawford of Darien, William (Pam) Crawford of Sardinia; children, Cameron and Yolanda, 2 grandchildren all of Marble Falls, TX; long time health aid and dear friend, Jessica Pozzobo; past health aids, Sally & Nadine and a special thank you to Laura Dietrich of Hospice.

Batavia - Mr. Willard D. Preston, III, age 81, of Batavia, supervisor with the former O&K Trojan in Batavia, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Buffalo General Medical Center.

A 1955 graduate of Batavia High School, he was a member of Ascension Parish and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. He was active with the Batavia Minor League where he coached his son, Duane and served as the president.  Mr. Preston proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1955-1958 as a paratrooper in the Swiss Alps. He earned a good conduct medal and parachutist badge.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Moscicki Preston, whom he married November 27, 1958; his children, Sharon (Alan) Porch of Baldwinsville, Linda (Michael) Bushart of Webster and Duane (Pamela) Preston of Batavia; nine grandchildren; his brother, Thomas (Dottie) Preston of Batavia and several nieces and nephews.

There are no prior visiting hours. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Ascension Parish, 15 Sumner Street, Batavia.  He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. She met the love of her life, Richard V. (Dick) McNulty, at a summer resort in the Poconos where she and several of her girlfriends were vacationing in 1956.  He was also Brooklyn-born (and raised) and his career was centered in Manhattan as a Principal Bank Examiner for the State of New York Banking Department.  Certain job assignments required travel across the state and during those times it was “Audrey in charge”.  At the time of his retirement, many years later, his office was located at Two World Trade Center.  Audrey and Dick loved socializing (dance classes and dances, get-togethers, short trips) with the fellow examiners and their spouses over the years.  They had all worked very hard together from truly humble beginnings through the Depression and WWII Years and celebrated genuine life-long friendships and many Shared and Personal milestones. Audrey and Dick married on June 8, 1957 in Queens.  She “retired” and chose to become a full-time wife and mother.  Dick and Audrey raised their son and daughter on Long Island in another family-centered and child-filled neighborhood. They took annual family summer vacations to Grandma’s (Audrey’s mom, Alice) cottage on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut and to Konrad and Rose Isele’s Butternut Valley farm (a 60’s favorite early B and B) in upstate Morris, NY. Every now and then they would throw in trips to various historical places for “educational reasons” and fun. Audrey and Dick moved to Western NY in June of 1994 to be closer to their daughter’s family.  They settled in Batavia and were avid walkers around town (the ice rink was one of their favorite stops along with any place that offered a darn good vanilla ice cream cone) and they were regulars at all Senior Center activities.  After Dick’s health declined, he resided at the Village Green in LeRoy.  Audrey, always armed with her no-bake oatmeal cookies and jokes for the staff, visited him daily until he passed away on June 19, 1998. She then made a home with her daughter’s family for ten years, resided at the Cloisters in Warsaw for two, and spent the final 7 ½ years of her life with her “later-in-life Family” at East Side Nursing Home in Warsaw.

In addition to her parents, Albert and Alice, and her husband, Dick, she was predeceased by her sister, Ruth. She leaves many stories and memories to be shared by her daughter, Loraine (Rodney) West of Pavilion, NY and her son, Joseph (Baby Martin) McNulty of Mill Valley, California, as well as by her grandchildren- Jed (Meghan O’Reilly)West, Tanner (Caitie Welch) West, and Lucien and Genevieve McNulty. Her great-grandchildren, Everly (of Tanner and Caitie), Emmett and soon-in-June Kevin (of Jed and Meg) are Audrey and Dick’s (aka “Grandma and Grandpa Mac”) enduring living legacy of their love to this world. She also leaves several cousins, nephews and nieces, a cherished niece, Clare Sheridan of Medford, Massachusetts and of course her Wonderful (“Top of the Morning to you All…”) East Side Family! In her memory, please pass along a favorite corny joke or story, remember to add a little line dance of “1-step forward and 2-steps back” to the walking gait of your “daily constitutional” (but be careful if you are walking on a major road), don’t come home with any other paint on your car but its’ own, and watch an old black and white classic movie now and then. Simple is good.

Lockport - Mario J. “Hank” Ianni, age 98, of Lockport, retired manager for Montgomery Ward in Lockport, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the New York State Veteran's Home.

Mr. Ianni was born December 25, 1919 in Aquila, Italy, a son of the late Salvatore and Laura Ciuffetelli Ianni.

Mr. Ianni enjoyed photography and was an accomplished musician who played the piano and mellow tone. He proudly served his country with the United States Army during World War II.

His wife, Maria L. Perozzi Ianni, passed away on March 4, 2010.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary (Benny) Giambrone of Oakfield and Angie (late Joseph) Mattioli of Akron; his sister-in-law, Linda Ianni of Corfu; his feline friend, Eddie and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his son, Theodore C. Ianni who passed away on September 24, 2017, his grandson, Alexander Ianni who passed away in 2014 and his brothers, Umberto (Bernice) Ianni, Victor (Sarah) Ianni, David (Theresa) Ianni, Carl (Rose) Ianni and Benny Ianni.
