Batavia - John F. "Jack' Andrews, age 81, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at The Grand Rehabilitation And Nursing At Batavia.

Jack was born November 6, 1937, in Batavia, son of the late Victor T. and Marjorie Francis Andrews.

Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon Stephens Andrews whom he married on June 25, 1966; his daughter, Stacy (Aidan) Brewer of Ossining; his beloved grandchildren; Arina Brewer and Lonya Brewer; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Andrews of

Jack is predeceased by his daughter, Carolann K. Andrews who passed away on June 28, 1998 and his brothers, Lee and Donald Andrews.

When Jack was 15 he was stricken with polio and was told he would never walk again. Because of his strength, determination, and fortitude he defied the odds and went on to graduate from Niagara University and became a well respected CPA in the area. 

He started out with the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen then joined Charles Mancuso & Sons in Batavia. Moving on, he then opened his own firm with Paul Tenney. He then partnered with Paul Battaglia and Tim Moag to form BAM, (Battaglia Andrews and Moag). Years later they merged with Freed Maxick, Sachs and Murphy, in Buffalo.

In addition to his work he was always ready to serve the community on many boards, including: The Saint Jerome Hospital Board, Eastern Health System, UMMC, Genesee County IDA, Genesee Community College Foundation, and was a longtime trustee of St. Joseph’s Church, Batavia.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on the 2nd floor of UMMC and the ICU for the wonderful care they gave Jack. Also the wonderful staff at The Grand who administered to him in his final days.

Last but not least, we want to thank the staff of Johnny’s Angels for sending us the most compassionate girls to care for Jack during the past year. They became a big part of our family.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Jack's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Judith was born October 22, 1937, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Stanley and Doris (Barnard) Davis.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Batavia, enjoyed playing cards, going to the Senior Center and the Genesee County Fair.  Judy loved to go out to eat and made it a goal to be the first person through the door of any new restaurant or store that openend in the area. 

She is the wife of Robert Alwardt, of Batavia.  The two were married August 1, 1981.

Surviving along with her husband are her children, Michael (Judy) Anderson of Stafford, Paula Helms of California, Wendy (Christopher) Hilbert of Bergen, Kristine (Kevin) Brinkman of South Dakota; step children, Kenneth Alwardt of Florida, Karen Warren of Batavia, Susan (Lowell) Farnsworth of Oakfield, Sharon Wall of Batavia; brothers, Jack (Stella) Davis of Virginia, Douglas (late Ida) Davis of Pavilion, Stephen (late Mary) Davis of Warsaw; a sister, Deborah (Harold) Seelman of Forest Point; sister-in-law, Susan Davis of Churchville; brother-in-law, George Squires of Byron.  11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

Judith was predeceased by a brother, David Davis.

Lockport - The Rev. Carole Grant-White, claimed the promises of Baptism on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Brompton Heights of Williamsville.

Born Carole Lee Grant, September13, 1942 in Peabody, Mass., she was the daughter of Edna White and John Robert Grant. A "war widow", Edna married Joseph La Placa in 1944 and they built a home and business in Marilla, N.Y. where Carole's half-siblings, Peggy (Dave) Tim and Joseph Andrew (Donna) LaPlaca completed the family.

After graduating from Iroquois Central School in 1960, Carole married Alton Tabor White in 1962. He developed and held patents on several epoxy and urethane compounds, and while residing in New Hampshire the two started a synthetic resin company, Vista Ray, which they operated until shortly before his death in 1972.

Carole enjoyed three professions she joyfully and sometimes simultaneously pursued at once. A Licensed Practical Nurse she worked at Portsmouth, NH and Lockport, NY as well as serving as occasional nurse and chaplain in three hospices. In 1970 she received a BA from Roberts Wesleyan College and began teaching English and Drama at Wyoming Central School. Throughout her educational career this would lead to positions at three WNY BOCES. Along the way she acquired her MA degrees from SUNY Buffalo and Niagara University. More to her surprise than that of colleagues, she received another MA in Pastoral Arts from Christ the King Seminary and was ordained as an Episcopal/Anglican Priest in 1989.

She served in the Dioceses of Niagara and Moosonee, Ontario, enjoying a long and mutual ministry in the James' Bay areas with the First Nation Cree Communities. She also served a summer in the United Kingdom and several part-time and Interim Positions in the Dioceses of Western New York and Southwest Florida.

Besides siblings, colleagues from each vocation and other wonderful friends who enriched her life, she is survived by her nephews, Jeff (Suzette) Tim, Matthew (Regina) Tim; nieces, Stephanie LaPlaca and Jessica (Les) Charles; two great-nephews; Liam Charles and Dominic Tim and her fur baby, Kibbie.

Carole is predeceased by Zeus, her faithful cocker spaniel pastoral assistant who exercised his own "healing ministry".

Though there will be no calling hours, we pray your presence at a celebration of Carole's life and invite all to join in the Communion of All Saints at Holy Eucharist at Christ Episcopal Church, 7145 Fieldcrest Drive, Lockport, New York 14094 on Friday, July 26th at 11 a.m. Carole will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery, Marilla. Batavia - Averyl H. Murphy, 87, of Batavia, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019, at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility.

Averyl was born November 25, 1931, in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Frederick and Dorotha (Hancock) Saunders.

Survivors include her children, Jeffery (Cathy) Houseknecht of Darien Center, Syd (Vicki) Houseknecht of Albion, Greg (Valerie) Houseknecht of Oakfield and Nancy (Mahlon) Miller of Alexander; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.                

Averyl is the wife of the late Robert W. Houseknecht and Francis James Murphy, mother of the late Rebecca Houseknecht and sister of the late Phillip Saunders and Clifford Saunders.

Calling hours are Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held at 4:00 p.m. also on Friday.  Averyl will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank of nearly 50 years. Surviving are 2 brothers, Eugene (Rena) DeMay of Batavia and Ronald (Ruby) DeMay of Greenville, TN and several nieces and nephews.

She was born July 28, 1926 in Sodus, NY, the daughter of Orrie and Esther DeMay. She enjoyed traveling, dinners out with friends, reading and watching her daughter paint.

A Memorial Service for Rosalie will be Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 10:00am at the J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 Bogue Ave., Batavia, NY.

LeRoy ~ Patricia A. (Driscoll) Kellogg, passed away Sunday afternoon (July 21, 2019) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her loving family.

     She was born September 24, 1966 in Batavia a daughter of Catherine McGuire Driscoll and the late James F. Driscoll..

     Patty was a very loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who loved her family unconditionally.  She enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with her family.

     She is survived by her mother, Catherine McGuire Driscoll; her children, Gregory Kellogg, Nicholas Kellogg and Danielle Kellogg; grandson, Parker James Kellogg; her brothers, James (Judy) Driscoll and John (Kerry) Driscoll; a special, loving "sister", Kelly (Rick Jr.) Cooper, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     She was predeceased by her father, James F. Driscoll in 2017.

Nellie graduated from Brockport State College then went on to teach kindergarten in Elba for 22 years and P.E. for 2 years. She was a longtime member of Padre Pio Parish and member of Home Bureau. Nellie enjoyed bowling, knitting and reading.

She is survived by her children; Judy Salway of VA., Daniel (Kristin) Coughlin Jr. of Elba, Denise (Ed) Marsceill of Elba and Colleen (Elton) Shuknecht of Elba;; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Susan worked at the New York State Veterans Home @ Batavia. She loved her family dearly, especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son Randal (Christine) Warner of Oakfield; sisters Diane (Jack) Flanigan of Oakfield; Betty Moore of Batavia; grandchildren Dawson, Kendal and Lakynn Warner, niece Anissa Kline.

Diane Marie Rigoni, 65, of Portsmouth, OH passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at her son’s home in Fletcher, NC.  Born January 6, 1954 in Dansville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Louise Speicher.  She was an alumnus of Akron University in Akron, OH where she received her B.A. in Accounting.  Of her many hobbies cross stitching was her favorite.  She attended Our Lady of Sorrows in W. Portsmouth, OH and volunteered with the Volunteer Guild of S.O.M.C. Surviving is her spouse of 46 years, Allan Paul Rigoni; sons, Jason A. Rigoni and his spouse, Judi, of Charleston, SC and Jamie P. Rigoni and his wife, Laura, of Fletcher; brothers, Ron Speicher and his spouse, Cindy, of Pittsford, NY and Bob Speicher of Rochester, NY; and nine wonderful grandchildren. Travis Minor, age 76 of Batavia, NY passed away on July 18, 2019 at the UMMC in Batavia surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Born on August 28, 1942, in Batavia, he was the son of the late John and Doris Minor.  He married Lucy (Pinto) Minor on December 18, 1965.

Travis was a graduate of Batavia High School and Tarkio College in Missouri.

Travis was a long-time manager and part owner of PW Minor and Son, a long-term Board Member of Tonawanda Federal Credit Union and a member of numerous other boards throughout the years within the community he loved so much.

Travis was a quiet, industrious man with an easy going manner who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, from his work in the family business, relationships he developed with the people he worked with through-out his life, playing cards and having lunch with friends, relaxing at Horseshoe Lake and most especially spending time with his grandchildren.  He was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and a former member of the Blue Coats fan organization.  His depth of character and positive outlook was demonstrated after sudden paralysis in his later years and he continued living his life as full and independent as possible with strength and dignity.

Travis is survived by his loving wife and long-time care provider, Lucy; son, Michael (Tara Rowcliffe) of Brighton, NY; his adored grandchildren, Madelyn, Travis and Mitchel Minor; sibling, Missy Minor (Peter Watson) of Boulder, CO and nieces and nephew.

In addition to his parents, Travis was predeceased by brother, Robert Minor.

The family would like to thank United Memorial Medical Center for the superb care they gave Travis to the end.

Jackie’s life revolved around food service where she owned and operated a restaurant in Andover, NY to running a catering service in Belmont, NY and in Batavia where she worked for Bohn’s Restaurant, Terry Hills Banquet Facility and Sunny’s Restaurant. She enjoyed golf, yard sales but most of all her beautiful flower gardens around the house in which she took great pride in.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Murrie Hokenson of Batavia; sons, John (Christine) Hokenson of Fredericksburg, VA and Troy (Tracey Kaczynski) Hokenson of Batavia; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason, Jeremy, Caitlyn and Lindsay Keller; special nephew, Robert Austin and many, many friends.

Jackie’s family will be present from 3:00 – 7:00p.m. on Monday July 22, 2019 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where a Celebration of Life Service will take place 11:00a.m. Tuesday July 23. LeRoy ~ Clyde L. Schutt Jr., age 77, passed away Thursday morning (July 18, 2019) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, in the loving presence of his family.

     Clyde was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be remembered as a fun loving, yet compassionate person.  He enjoyed camping, traveling and old cars.  He was a well known businessman in the community and was also a lifetime member of the LeRoy Moose Lodge. 

     He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Dempsey Schutt; his daughters, Wendy Miller of LeRoy and Shelley (Rick) Scott of Stafford; step-daughter, Deanna (Jimmy) Leach of Leicester; grandchildren, Sara Jo, Jesse, Peyton, Erica, and Emilee; step-granddaughter, Tiffany; great-granddaughters, or as grandpa called them the "blond bombers", Kallia and Tatum, along with nieces, nephews and dear friends, especially his partner, Bob Sovocool.

LeRoy ~ Mary (Gentile) Indivino, a devoted lifelong Catholic, passed away on July 14, 2019.

     She was predeceased by her husband, John Indivino and her son, Christopher Indivino.

     She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Rausch, Mary Ann Beattie and Rose Marie McGowan, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     Mary enjoyed serving her family many traditional Italian dishes.  She was a loyal member and volunteer of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
