An “Interfaith Witness for Peace” will take place on Thursday, March 3, 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Genesee Community College (Technology Building, Room T-119). Representatives from many of the different faith traditions found throughout Genesee County will share reflections, prayers, and a common yearning for peace. There will be no speeches, sermons, homilies or political activity. The event will include music, a brief video, and light refreshments. The program is free, and all are welcome. Though there is violent turmoil, ethnic and religious strife, all all-out war in many regions of the world, the Interfaith Witness for Peace is a hopeful gathering, trusting that the divine will for peace will prevail as good-hearted people gather and commit to it. The idea for the Interfaith Witness for Peace was initiated by Pax Christi of Genesee Valley, but with deep appreciation for the other faith traditions in our area that have become involved in the effort, as well as for Genesee Community College for its willingness to offer its facilities for this special community event.
