Former nursing home owner faces new federal charge

By Howard B. Owens

The former owner of the Batavia Nursing Home is facing a new federal charge after being indicted on a count of bankruptcy fraud by a federal grand jury.

Marc Korn, 58 and a resident of Amherst, is accused of making false statements under oath during a bankruptcy proceeding concerning the ownership of safe deposit boxes. He is also accused of failing to disclose life insurance policies transferred to another person and concealing assets from creditors.

Korn was already under federal indictment on charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, and failure to pay employment taxes, as well as making false statements to law enforcement.

That indictment was issued in 2011, at a time when Korn was under fire for reportedly failing to pay his Batavia employees.

All told, Korn is facing as much as 30 years in prison and more than $1 million in fines or both.

He's scheduled to go to trial on the first set of charges May 20.

Ed, what I posted was from the linked article in Howard's story, dated 4 years ago, which yes at THIS time he would be 58.

As far as your reference to Intelius.com, I have better things to spend money on rather than prying into other people's lives, which is why that website is up for, as anyone willing to pay the fee, is prying into other people's lives.

Well, Raymond. As you didn't specify that the info was from 4 years ago (like posting a link), the way your comment reads leads one to think that it's up to date.

And, I have NO idea what you allude to about spending money on intelius.com
I have used that site, probably 20 times or more, in the last 4 years, searching for past friends, and have NEVER spent a dime on the site. Like you, I have no interest in spending my money on such sites. I use it as a FREE people-finder to connect with friends from the past. I could care less about their current email address, phone#, or whatever they are trying to SELL. For what I use it for, the freebie works fine.

But, thanks for worrying about my money usage. What a guy!

The link to the older story is contained within this current story Ed.

Paragraph 4: That indictment was issued in 2011, "at a time when Korn was under fire for reportedly failing to pay his Batavia employees."

What's in the quotation marks, is the hyperlink to the older article, one need only click on it.

"But, thanks for worrying about my money usage. "

I could care less of your spending, I merely stated I have better things to spend mine on.
