I'm still not fully clear on what exactly they're doing. I see that they've been on my street the last two details, but I've been out of town and missed seeing it.
Are they basically just walking around and talking to the people that are out? Are they knocking on doors? Are they setting up traffic checkpoints or stopping cars at random?
You know, sometimes the Police just can’t win no matter what they do.
They’re out in the neighborhoods walking around; their presence a deterrent to crime, and some people will complain. So far on the forum there have been no complaints, just questions and open discussion.
When the police aren’t there and some people see something going on; some people will complain; where’s the cops when you need them, sometimes with a snide remark such as “They’re probably off somewhere eating donuts.
My daughter was driving my wife's car last night; just a quick trip to Tops and received a ticket for a headlight out.
I keep spares bulbs of everything in our vehicles. The Batavia Police Officer advised her get it fixed by tomorrow and there will be no fine; the Officer was doing his job plain and simple.
Some people complain when the Police are doing their jobs as in my daughter’s case; they claim the Police are harassing people when they should be busting drug lords and such.
Well, in our situation, I will call it good and common sense Community Policing.
Yup, sometimes the cops just can’t win no matter what they do.
No I don't think Howard would tip anyone off. I don't think they will ever give you a heads up Howard because that's not their SOP. Did you ever ask them why they won't invite you? What was their response? I don't think inviting anyone outside of people involved is even a consideration.
If it deters someone from hurting anyone, isn't it worth it? I have had my house vandalized on multiple occasions. You can't keep any solar lights out on washington ave and find them because they get picked up and busted in the street. why? What possible fun could that be?
I have tried to report people who sell food stamps and do not feed their children or properly clothe them. Not to mention watch their kids. Drive down State Street on any day and you will see what I am saying. When I wanted to report the obvious abuse and neglect I was told...well you need a lot of proof. The poor kids flea to Austin Park to get away from their bad parents. I have had then come to my home and give them snacks. SAD!
Schools send these kids home with food and the parents take it and eat it. What? Yeah! It boggles the mind.
In the past, some have complained about this use of police as almost Gestapo like tactics. But I noticed they did not live in the high crime areas either.
I would like to know if anyone who voted 'No", and actually lives in the areas that had the police there, would tell us why they are against it?
Brian, what liberty was lost? By who? Nobody who lives in the area has said they were forced to do or say anything. Not one has said their rights have been violated.

Since BPD refuses to alert me
Since BPD refuses to alert me to these events prior, it's impossible to get a full idea of the scope of the tactics involved.

Does the BPD actually think
Does the BPD actually think Howard will alert drug dealers and scofflaws that a sweep is coming?

"if it deters, isn't it worth
"if it deters, isn't it worth it" ??? Only if you are OK with loosing Constitutionally guaranteed personal liberty in the process. I'm NOT.

Maybe they are unable to pay
Maybe they are unable to pay for internet.
yeah, not like they can
yeah, not like they can afford internet when they are buying beer, crack and eyeball tattoos. And then a pack of diapers once a month.
Lorie, has any of this
Lorie, has any of this changed since the sweeps took place?
