Today's Poll: Should it be criminal to annoy another person?

No, but someone punching the drunk in the face shouldn't surprise anyone, either. Anybody can do anything they want as long as they're willing to pay the price. Sometimes the price for being an annoying drunk is eating a knuckle sammich.

Can't help addressing the juxtaposition of this thread and the adjacent thread with the comment about marijuana. Having worked in the music business for years, I've met my share of drunks and stoners. There is a difference. The stoner wants to impress you with his/her wealth of trivia concerning Jimi Hendrix or how many edits were made to some Bob Dylan lyric. ...If you don't want to listen, walk away. The drunk, on the other hand, wants to impress upon you the level of jerk he/she is married to, how terribly mistreated he/she is. ...And don't you dare walk away! They'll get louder and louder, and grab at your arm and spray you with emotional drool and eventually start a brawl with you. Isn't public intoxication illegal? Is it necessary to regulate annoyance? If annoyance were illegal, that Geiko pig would have been impaled at a Texas barbecue ages ago!

Oh, c'mon.... These boards would be full of (cue Barney Fife) "citizen's arrest! Citizen's arrest!" if being annoying (or more accurately feeling like one has been annoyed) was illegal...
