There's no point. The background check happened when the firearm was purchased. I'm tired of being asked to see my pistol permit when I'm purchasing "handgun" ammo. There's really no such thing as handgun ammo. All ammunition fits a handgun of some kind. Whenever I'm asked, I tell them the ammo is for a rifle and the problem goes away. The whole idea of gun registrations, handgun permits and background checks is nothing more than a burden for the average American. There are millions of guns and billions of rounds of ammunition in the possession of millions of Americans and a tiny fraction of them are ever used in a crime. Doctors and the pharmaceutical industry are both more dangerous than guns. Tobacco kills 20 fold more people than homicides by people using guns. I just have no clue where the hysteria about guns and ammunition comes from, other than from irresponsible media hype, and bad politicians. There are a few bad eggs that always ruin it for the majority, and that's what's I think is happening with all the gun/ammo hysteria. Stop being sheeple, and start thinking logically.
I agree with Doug. Would be interested in seeing what the people who said yes think doing a background check to buy ammunition is going to prevent? The only thing i see it preventing is like Doug said the average American going in a purchasing ammunition without jumping threw hoops. I would bet most people using a gun for illegal activity acquired that through some sort of illegal activity.
