Active duty service members Kyle A. Shrum and Nicole L. Woodard were married Saturday in Oakfield's Memorial Park.
Nicole's grandmother Bonnie Gendron said it's the first wedding held in the park.
The couple met at the Army's Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga., and Kyle, 19, is from VanBuren, Ark., and Nicole, 19, is from Oakfield.
UPDATE: Melissa Baker says that there was at least one more wedding in Memorial Park before this one. That was the wedding of her sister, Tiffany Reynolds and Koree McAlister. McAllister is an active Marine and both are from Oakfield. They were married last summer in Memorial Park.

One of my favorite freaks
One of my favorite freaks that I got to see live in concert at the Rochester "War memorial." When I was 12 I had entire albums of his memorized.

I never got what the appeal
I never got what the appeal was with Zappa. I had friends who also memorized all his albums and had Zappa parties where that was all they played. He named his daughter Moon Unit. I'm shaking my head now and I was then, too.
Frank's number one thing was
Frank's number one thing was to be "unconventional" musically and personally. He always wanted to challenge the norms. Growing up in the 50's he was obviously fascinated with the whole avant-garde movement in music, films and art. Because he consciously went against anything that was "the norm" or convention is why I became a fan long long ago. It's not for everybody. Not a criticism Billie, just a fact, we are all different and Frank wanted to be the most different LOL.
And Frank went to Grossmont
And Frank went to Grossmont HS (for one semester). Billie went to Helix (though that didn't stop her from marrying a GHS alum).
So who was the lucky one,
So who was the lucky one, Billie or the GHS Alum?
Clearly, the GHS alum.
Clearly, the GHS alum.
Billie, I've always loved his
Billie, I've always loved his Satire. His kids all had odd names, but they all seem to do just fine with it.
"Consider for a moment any beauty in the name Ralph."
-- Frank Zappa, on being asked by Joan Rivers why he gave his children such odd names People make a lot of fuss about my kids having such supposedly 'strange names'
"But the fact is that no matter what first names I might have given them, it is the last name that is going to get them in trouble."
-- Frank Zappa, from The Real Frank Zappa Book
It's much the same reason for
It's much the same reason for me liking George Carlin so much. I'm a member of the NRA and George made fun of "NRA gun nuts." I appreciated his pointed observations because if anything, it made me realize truths about myself, not just truths about "other people." His and Frank's observations and their ability to vocalize them made my life easier.
