We use Trash Away and absolutely, 100% LOVE them... and highly recommend them!
The thing we do NOT love is that there is now garbage lining the streets Monday through Friday. Did the City think of that when they ridded of the ARC and opened it up to public choice? It would've been nice for the companies to get together and choose one or two days to collect garbage, but I'm sure that could never happen.
Again, LOVE our trash collector, hate the new landscape.
On my street, all the companies but Waste Management come on the same day. People with or without ARC seem to happy with the service they picked on their own.
I absolutely LOVE my new service - I take my trash and recyclables to ARC when necessary. I no longer have to pay a premium to subsidize the garbage collection for large volume garbage producers. I didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a microchip attached tote. I don't have to put my trash out on stormy days and watch the winds, plows, and other forces spread my trash to the four corners of the county. And I recycle as much as possible!
I'd thank the City Council and City Manager for finally allowing me to be responsible for my own trash disposal but since they only stumbled upon the solution after months of bickering about imposed systems and costs while hiding their personal agendas for imposed control and favoritism, I'll reserve my thanks for a time when they all resign and give back the city to the people.
As for trash lining the streets, I walk around the north side of the city daily and have not witnessed a build up of trash on any of the streets I walk, nor have I seen a daily gauntlet of trash at the curbs awaiting pickup. I saw one nice clean white trash truck on my morning walk today and expect the usual parade of rusty old blue ARC trucks in the neighborhood tomorrow. To me, it looks like business as usual only people now have a choice and can effectively manage their own process.
Litter, on the other hand, is still obvious. No matter how many 5 cent deposits the state slaps on bottles and cans, no matter what the fines are for tossing wrappers and cigarette butts out of windows, some people are just going to be slobs. Instead of giving inmates gym equipment and yard time, give them a bag and a pitch fork and walk them up and down streets picking up litter. Keep it clean America!
Education and choice are good things. Take responsibility and demand more from your government - more getting out of the way, more getting out of your pocketbooks, and more getting out of the business of your lives.
I guess I can now add the change in garbage service to the list of apocalyptic predictions in Batavia that didn't come true. I think I'll put it right between "the s-curve will lead to ten fatal car accidents a day" and "the benches on Main Street are facing the wrong way."
I am Very Happy with my trash service. We went with “Trash Away” and have been pleased with the top notch service they have provided.
Our pick up day has not changed, all trash & recyclables have been on their truck no later than 9:00 am. Which means my recycle box and trash container is off the curb and back in the garage by 9:15 am. Have notice that on my street (except for Waste Management) there has not been a change to the “Trash Day.”
Will not say anything negative about the City Council or the City Manager mainly because I really don’t see the need. I will however say that something needs to be done about the trash on the sidewalks and curbsides downtown. Two days a week my walking routine takes me through the streets of Our City and during these walks I will pick up plastic bottles, candy wrappers, fast food cups and other types of trash. On a few occasions more than one shopping bag was used. The City has several trash containers on each side of Main Street really wish we as citizens would learn how to use them. Granted a lot of it could have been thrown from cars, but much of what I have picked up was definitely caused by pedestrian traffic.

75% have no problem. Not bad for a system that has been in place now for less than 90 days.
