From County Highway Superintendent Tim Hens:
The work scheduled to start tomorrow on the River Street Bridge in the City of Batavia has been postponed until Friday due to a rescheduling of contractors. Milling of the existing asphalt overlay will be performed Friday and should be completed that day. The bridge will be reduced to one lane during the work.
Like I said following the
Like I said following the original announcment, I sure as hell hope it not the same company that repaved River St. and left the manholes 3 to 4 inches lower than the road surface. Nice work.......
I have 3 friends [more
I have 3 friends [more fortunate than I] who are retired and "drive" south to Fla each winter. They all tell me that after they return home to Batavia, the streets in our city are "the worst" roadways they traveled in their entire trip.
Just last week my daughter and family were in Batavia for a visit. My son-in-law is a police officer for the city of Raleigh, NC. His remark to me was, " I work in a city of 400,000, and I patrol all of it at one time or another, and the streets in Batavia are worse than any I drive on in all of Raleigh".
Brian, have them go drive
Brian, have them go drive around Niagara Falls sometime. The most god-awful roads in NY State
Don't worry Brian, we can't
Don't worry Brian, we can't fix our roads but we can repaint the lines on 63 that weren't even two years old.
All the automobile repair
All the automobile repair shops that specialize in suspension work love it; broken springs, worn out shock absorbers, ball joints. Other streets that have the same problem: Harvester Ave, Florence Ave. Have you ever hit the manhole cover at the crest of the hill on Richmond Ave going East? That one will rattle your teeth!
Yep,Batavia has some really
Yep,Batavia has some really sh*tty streets-the tracks on Swan are terrible-Elm St,hell, most of the streets that run north of Main are shot. I also love the genius placement of the manholes on Oak St,southbound between Union and Richmond-wouldn't be bad if they were level w/ road, but they are not.Luckily I haven't been through downtown Niagara Falls, just on outskirts, but those were bad also.
