A man wanted on a warrant for alleged petit larceny turned himself in to authorities today, reportedly because he had seen his picture on the home page of The Batavian.
Veshaun D. "Shortie" Thomas was jailed on $1,000 bail after surrendering to the Sheriff's Office.
Warrant Officer Eric Olsen said the Sheriff's Office received numerous tips about the whereabouts of Thomas as a result of the post on The Batavian, but added, "I really think it was your article that put the pressure on him to surrender."

Thanks to the Batavian for pressuring a wanted man to surrender. Maybe the Batavian can enlist in the Department of Homeland Security and pressure those who oppose losing their constitutional rights to surrender too. Maybe you can get a nickel for everyone you help indefinitely detain in a FEMA camp. Keep up the good work.

Great story Howard. At the risk of reading too much into this, I think that this is what community is all about; people knowing their neighbors, and taking an interest in the quality of life in their town. I think it's great when a criminal has to surrender to the police because he knows that half the town is on the lookout for him, and will turn him in.
Research has shown that the most effective way of keeping crime off of the streets is to have citizens out on them. When a community is active and engaged with each other, crime decreases. When people look the other way the "broken windows" syndrome takes over.

Jonathan.....your statement
Jonathan.....your statement that if he wanted to kill Trayvon he would have done it really shows your ignorance..... Trayvon is dead. I'm sorry your neighbor hasn't left his house in 2 years, he is probably very sick but your attention to detail makes me believe the rest of your rant is probably about as accurate in facts as .... If he wanted to kill treyvon he would have. So please get back to work so the rest of us may stay at home for a couple of years and vote for Obama.
Jonathan, What does voting
Jonathan, What does voting for Obama have to do with a murder trail in Florida? It seems every issue how ever unrelated, always gets answered with someone ranting on about Socialism and Obama, give it a rest.
