I voted 'very favorable', but compared to the performance of some of our past representatives, I wish you had a category that allowed for higher praise. She really knows where Genesee County is!
No surprise, I also joined Ray and voted 'very favorable'. If you're talking 'local', Kathy is a representative who did her Christmas shopping at our local businesses, eats frequently in our local diners and genuinely reaches out to local citizens.
I will also add that if local governments need her help -- she is right there -- as was evident when she reached out to help LeRoy put federal wheels in motion to remediate Superfund site.
What a refreshing change after the likes of sex-shopper Chris Lee, GOP pimp Tom Reynolds and wannabe (fill in the blank) Bill Paxon. ...Two decades of racing to the bottom was long enough.
No complaint. She's new and has no real influence and has not had any impact on legislation. But she has been to Genesee County many times and responds in a timely manner to requests for information.
C. M., great post.
Kathy demonstrates what is good about politics and politicians. She didn't walk away from Genesee Co. after the election. She comes back time and time again.
I guess those who voted unfavorable or very unfavorable enjoyed the race to the bottom with Lee, Reynolds and Paxon. Go figure.
Bea,
Well, how do you define "performance"? She has not been in office a year yet, and as a junior member of the Democratic delegation, has had no real influence on anything. She is more visible and accessible than Lee was, but that does not make her outstanding, just better.
She might become a great congress member, or a dud. It's way too early to tell.
I do not think John is off about Kathy Hochul. She is new and has not yet may a full impact on the legislation yet. She is on her way to do so. She has initiated a few and signed a few bills. We can all agree that she has shown great concern for our local community time and time again. She seem very sincere and has shown compassion for Genesee County.
But more importantly is her love for the district she represents and the relationship she's building with the people.. She has said on many occasions that she can't wait to get back home after a week in DC. When she's in the district she is out talking to farmers, small business owners, veterans, or senior citizens about their concerns.
Rep. Hochul has been an effective voice in the House and is actively engaged in legislation that will require our Customs and Imigration officers uniforms to be made here in the U.S.A. as well as other iniatives that bring manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.. I recently visited her office hear in Williamsville to express my disappointment that the Canteen located in the VA Hospital here as well as the Military base Commisaries carry few if any manufactured items made here in the America, instead the labels on the clothing and electronics read mainly made in China, India or Pakistan. Her staff told me of her efforts on the requirement for the uniforms fro I.C.E. agents and would look into the issue of domestic manufactured content for the retail operations on military bases and in the VA Hospital canteen facilities, since that time I have had several e-mails and letters from her office that are a good indication that her office listens and when contacted make an effort to look into the issue and do something. I am impressed with Rep Hochul and her staff and hope she continues to bulid on her good works.
I was an ardent supporter of Jack Davis when he ran for the office but will actively support her as a candidate if she choose to run for Congress again based on her performance in office so far.
I have reached out to Rep. Hochul's about a few things, and have been responded to quickly each time. She listens and is incredibly affable. She doesn't seem to put on heirs about what she sees and feels regardless of party affiliation, and I like that.
I voted favorable. She seems to comport herself independent of partisanship. Her statements are definitely not just party talking points. I like what I see so far and wish her the best.

She is a proactive, common sense representative.

I believe she wrote HR 3654.
She has also closed debate. She is no wallflower in Congress.
