A 28-year-old Rochester resident was arrested for alleged DWI Sunday after her car became stuck on railroad tracks in the Town of Bergen.
The woman was returning home from the Toby Keith concert at Darien Lake and told deputies that she became stuck on the tracks after following the directions of her GPS.
Charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, and moving from lane unsafely was Michelle H. Wilson, of Fallstaff Road, Rochester.
Deputy Tim Wescott and Sgt. Greg Walker responded to the call of a car stuck on the tracks near Town Line Road, Bergen, at 10:50 p.m.
To paraphrase moms
To paraphrase moms everywhere: "If the GPS told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?" Possibly, if I was driving while wasted out of my mind.
A plausible explanation might
A plausible explanation might have included mention of the graffiti on the South Byron rail overpass, "Party Town USA." Searching for some obscure Shangri La would have invited more sympathy than blaming a high-tech gizmo.

Alas, "Party Town, USA" is no longer emblazoned across the railroad overpass in South Byron. The bridge design changed about fifteen years ago and the prominent face panels (wide squares perfect for giant, spray-painted letters) were removed in favor of a thinner plate that is not too conducive to graffiti. Also, the population has changed and, well, there is no "Party" left in the "Town."

Thanks for bringing me up to date, Brandon. Haven't spent much time in South Byron since the hotel, beer and live music downgraded to juice and strippers.
