Throughut the summer there was no shortage of colorful songbirds around our home. The orioles were among the first arrivals, showing up when the apple tree blossomed. They busied themselves searching the small white blooms for food, flitting from branch to branch in their quest for tiny insects.
Perched at the very top of the tree, this oriole took time to preen.
Looking for bugs
Casting a wary eye
Belting out a few notes
Multiple mating pairs nested in the small woods along the northern edge of our property. Their pleasant song was often heard anytime during the daylight hours.

Jim, I enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles in my yard this summer. I usually have a pair each year but this year I found the nest and it happened to be right next to my deck so I was able to watch them from feeding until after babies fledged.
I tried to post pictures but it's not working for me, so here is a link.

Jim, Silver Lake has been abuzz about a Bald Eagle family that have made a home there for the past few years so yesterday we were on Eagle watch. My brother went out earlier in the day and saw the baby perched in an area between the inlet and outlet. By the time we took the boat out for another look, I think the lake was just too busy. So I haven't seen them yet, but the marshy area going through the inlet is a wonderful area for bird watching.
Thanks Irene.....glad you
