A murder of crows -- that's what you call a group of them, not a flock -- were hanging out on Summit Street early this evening.
With their constant caw-caw-caw they were making quite a ruckus -- like something out of Hitchcock's "The Birds."
At one point, they seemed to have every branch in this tree covered.

You should see them gather at the cemetery across from the Harvester buildings. When I used to work there, about 3 or 4 years ago now, I would know when it was 4:45pm because the cemetery would just fill with crows. Every single branch of every single tree in the cemetery was covered by crows... and the sound of them calling out was amazing!! Every day, Monday through Friday at the least, at 4:45pm - no lie!! That was my 'alarm' to start packing up for the day, since my quit time was 5pm.
Simply amazing and beautiful creatures. A little spooky, too! :)
They gather at St. James
They gather at St. James Church too. I watched them the other evening. Yes, it is a little Alfred Hitchcock, but it is amazing to witness.

When I was a wee lad my Grandmother's neighbor Mr. Seifert (sp) had a pet crow in the back yard that would talk, I used to LOVE visiting "Corkey" it is one of my best childhood memories!
