Today's Poll: Is your feeling toward Gov. Cuomo favorable or unfavorable?

I voted favorable. Members of his own party are not happy with his announcing layoffs, gov't consolidation, and not raising taxes. Hopefully, I'll not be disappointed a year from now.

Bud,
I attended several functions where he has stated his agenda - including salary freeze, layoffs, and consolidation and didn't get the impression that the very partisan audience was unhappy.
I'm sure there are some, from every walk of life who are unhappy. That said, I believe he has the support of the majority in HIS party for steps he has to take to fix the mess we are in.
When is the summit?

The guy hasn't been in office a month. It seems a wee-bit premature. Hopefully the Redesign Team visit to Rochester didn't set the pace for his leadership. Conducting an open forum (ideas to fix public health care) between noon and 4 PM said- working class folks, don't bother. Who did they want there? ...Media, politicians, retirees and health care industry insiders; glad-handing and warm-fuzzies on the 6 o'clock news.

"STOP THE PRESSES!"

Newsflash! Dateline Batavia, NY: CM Barons, well known progressive/liberal, and Bob Harker, self professed right wing extremist, agree on a political poll!

Seriously, how can Cuomo's performance be evaluated at this point? I've heard speeches and statements with a lot of content I agree with, but no action. I'm willing to give the guy a chance to back his words.

I think the biggest litmus test will be his proposed budget. It sounds like it will contain many needed spending cuts. The true test of his leadership though, will be getting it passed - and on time.

The big polling companies have already come out with their job performance polls, so I thought it would be interesting to ask the question.

And so far, interesting response -- here in Paladino Country, Cuomo is running a little more than 50 percent favorable so far.

Good for him:

Albany, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he has unearthed what he calls a longtime Albany secret that quietly increases spending drastically in a flawed budget process.

He vows to scrap the system. Cuomo said it would have automatically increased Medicaid and education spending by 13 percent, so that even a 7-percent cut announced publicly would be a 6-percent increase in funding.

His comments to be carried this week in opinion pieces to newspapers statewide have been first obtained Monday by The Associated Press.

The former attorney general says the flawed budget system under way for decades is resulting in the state's projected $10 billion deficit. He says if the inflation rate was used, the deficit would be $1 billion.

The revelation is startling for Albany's long criticized budget process.

as the most exteme right winger on this website, one must laugh at mr. o'brien's claim and that of other arrogant and ill informed poorly educated radicals like him that they and only they know what was in the minds of the founding fathers. they have made a career out of distoring american history & spewing hateful rhetoric. one only has to look at what mr. o'brien posted as his profile picture on this site to see what a divisive extemist he really is, an embarassment to our city and our county.

David,
Peter has the right of free expression. That allows him to post that profile picture and to make outrageous statements that often grate on the last nerve.
There is nothing that will make him change his mind once he has made a statement. Once it is in print, he'll defend it to the death. Also, his right.
The best thing to do, and it is hard to do, is just bypass his posts and go on to the next.
