History will be made in Elba on October 4.
The Elba/Byron-Bergen football team will be playing its homecoming game under the lights for the first time in the history of the program.
Elba has never had lights on its field and the Elba Sports Boosters will be bringing in temporary lights for the game against Alexander, allowing the Lancers to host a night game for the first time ever.
The Section 5 schedule still says the game has a 1:30 p.m. kickoff time, but it will actually be at 7 p.m.
This is big news. If I cannot
This is big news. If I cannot get a ride to watch our school play Attica, I will probably be going to Elba.
I'm pretty sure it will be
I'm pretty sure it will be the only local game played on a Saturday night.
The O-A/Attica game is on Friday.
I'll be at O-A/Attica Friday night, then at Pembroke/Barker or ND/Holley Saturday afternoon and then Alexander/E/BB at night.
Will be a fun weekend!
Ohhh my bad, thought the
Ohhh my bad, thought the Elba/BB game would be on a Friday night because of it being under the lights. I wonder how much it costs Elba for the temporary lights compared to getting ones to keep.
I sort of wonder that
I sort of wonder that myself.
Nobody has given me any exact numbers at this point, but I have heard that the Elba Sports Boosters - which does a great job of raising money - has a HUGE budget.
If they have as much as I have heard,it might be worth looking into investing in lights ... or a better scoreboard at least.
I think they could also do
I think they could also do some other stuff for the field. For example, find some way to drain the water so it doesn't run down the hill and creates a river by the Elba bench. Or, maybe they could get a screen for the uprights near the woods. I always feel bad for the ballboy that has to journey into the woods to get the ball after a field goal/extra point.
The N.D vs. Holley game is on
The N.D vs. Holley game is on Friday night as well, not Saturday afternoon.
Is Holley renting lights too?
Is Holley renting lights too? I also heard today that Alexander was playing their homecoming under the lights.
What is going on here?
Maybe the same company asked
Maybe the same company asked the rest of the teams in the GR without lights if they were interested. Not confirmed or anything, just taking a guess.........
