Join facilitator, Michelle Scheib of the Restoration Society, at the Mental Health Association of Genesee & Orleans Counties for an Introduction to Mentoring and Coaching training on March 28th! Participants will achieve a basic understanding of Peer Philosophy, Role Modeling, Mentoring, and Coaching. Learn valuable techniques, principles of Community Connectedness, and the process of Road Mapping, all within the Recovery Center Framework. TIME: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (break for lunch at 12:30) This training is open to community professionals and outside agencies only!

County Historian Michael Eula to speak in Le Roy about Civil War General Emory Upton

Michael J. Eula, Ph.D., Genesee County historian, will be giving a talk entitled “Emory Upton and the Formation of Modern America” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21st. It will take place at the Le Roy United Methodist Church, 10 Trigon Park, in Le Roy. It is sponsored by the Genesee Valley Civil War Roundtable.

Female Civil War-era soldier reenactor in full regalia is guest at Stafford Historical Society meeting

The Stafford Historical Society’s next monthly meeting will be at 7 p.m. on June 22 at the Town Hall, 8903 Route 237. Our program will be “WOMEN SOLDIERS OF THE CIVIL WAR” — a presentation by Joyce Thompson-Hovy, who will appear in full regalia of what a woman soldier would have worn at that time. Joyce, upon graduating college and teaching school for 40 years, found a great interest in American History. She then became a Civil War reenactor and educator. The public is invited.
