why turf

I read the headline in the Daily News today,  regarding turf at VanDetta stadium,,  Why now when we seem to be having a problem with taxes an money in general, for taxpayers hopefully this can be completely state funded,,  otherwise I suggest waiting until the economy improves, and people can recover from this recession!!!!
