Water main break, repair on Watson Street in city

The City of Batavia Water Department is repairing a water main break in the area of Watson Street.

Water loss is to be expected in the surrounding area while repairs are being completed. Work will resume on Thursday morning, Oct. 31, 2024. The amount of time the water will be turned off to complete these repairs is uncertain at this time.

As always, when the water is restored it may be discolored. Please refrain from doing any laundry until the water runs clear.

We apologize for any inconvenience, and the public’s patience is greatly appreciated. 

City workers repairing water main break on Elm Street

From Bill Davis, superintendent of water/wastewater for the City of Batavia:

The City of Batavia Water Dept. is on location of a water main break in front of 215 Elm St. The water has been turned off on Elm north of North Street.

Homes in the surrounding area may experience rusty water, please do not attempt to do laundry at this time.

We appreciate your understanding while this repair is made. City crews will make every attempt to restore water as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Water service was restored just before 8 p.m.

The City of Batavia Water Deptartment is on location of a water main break in front of 40 Pearl St.

The water has been turned off from 40 Pearl St. to the City line.

We appreciate your understanding while this repair is made. City crews will make every attempt to restore water as soon as possible.

Water main break closes part of Bank Street

There's a water main break on Bank Street in the City of Batavia. A portion of the street is closed -- between Main Street and Washington Avenue -- as crews from the Bureau of Maintenance try to repair the problem. But a worker said they haven't located the break point yet, so it's uncertain how long the repair will take.

Water main break reported on Vine Street, north of North Street, Batavia

A water main break on Vine Street north of North Street may require water service to be interrupted in that general area. This work may cause temporary periods of low or no water pressure or possible discolored water in the immediate area. Every effort will be made to keep disruptions to a minimum. Crews are on site to begin repairs.

UPDATE: Repairs have been completed and there was no disruption to service, according to Matt Worth.
