Local students enrolled in UB Honors College for 2024-25 academic year

The following local students are enrolled in the University at Buffalo Honors College for the 2024-25 academic year:

UB is New York State's flagship and the largest and most comprehensive institution in the State University of New York system.

"The Honors College is made up of students who are intellectually ambitious and interested in pushing themselves and others to maximize their undergraduate experiences," Honors College Academic Director Patrick McDevitt says. "Our inclusive curriculum and dedicated staff nurture and support honors scholars as they grow as leaders, creative thinkers and globally-minded citizens."

The UB Honors College supports and challenges academically gifted students to strengthen their studies and explore their interests across the disciplines. Currently, 1,788 of UB's approximately 20,170 undergraduate students are enrolled in the Honors College. The college welcomed 537 first-year students for fall 2024. The college had one of the largest out-of-state enrollments to date, and welcomed 42 international students representing over a dozen different countries.

Honors scholars enjoy many benefits designed to foster academic and personal success - including personalized advisement, faculty mentorship, priority registration, access to unique funding opportunities, specialized living communities and a network of global honors alumni.

Honors scholars must maintain a 3.300 undergraduate Grade Point Average (GPA) during the first year and at least a 3.500 undergraduate GPA in each successive year to graduate with an overall GPA of 3.500.

Eighteen local students graduate from University at Buffalo

The following local students graduated from the University at Buffalo. 

Margaret Andersen of Batavia graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the College of Arts and Sciences and a bachelor's degree in physics from the College of Arts and Sciences. Andersen's conferral date was June 2024.

Jaiden Lefort of Darien Center graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences. Lefort's conferral date was February 2024.

Allie Beaumont of Le Roy graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in health and human services from the College of Arts and Sciences. Beaumont's conferral date was June 2024.

Pierce Corbelli of Batavia graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Corbelli's conferral date was August 2023.

Kyle Freeman of Corfu graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in criminology from the College of Arts and Sciences. Freeman's conferral date was February 2024.

Sara Cottone of Le Roy graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences. Cottone's conferral date was February 2024.

Kendra Cook of Batavia graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences. Cook's conferral date was June 2024.

Cianna Kusmierski of Alexander graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in accounting from the School of Management. Kusmierski's conferral date was June 2024.

Connlan Hotnich of Batavia graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in accounting from the School of Management. Hotnich's conferral date was June 2024.

Katie Stanley of Alexander graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and a bachelor's degree in dance from the College of Arts and Sciences. Stanley's conferral date was June 2024.

Ricky Denson of Bergen graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Denson's conferral date was June 2024.

Emilio Perez Gangi of Elba graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Perez Gangi's conferral date was June 2024.

Erik Maier of Oakfield graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Maier's conferral date was June 2024.

Cole Heaney of Le Roy graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in business administration from the School of Management. Heaney's conferral date was June 2024.

Morgan Reimer of Batavia graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences. Reimer's conferral date was February 2024.

MacKenzie Pedersen of Batavia graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in dance from the College of Arts and Sciences. Pedersen's conferral date was June 2024.

Jake Pope of Alexander graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in English from the College of Arts and Sciences. Pope's conferral date was June 2024.

Adeena Riedel of Batavia graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in health and human services from the College of Arts and Sciences. Riedel's conferral date was June 2024.

UB celebrated over 9,400 students across 23 school-based or university-wide recognition and certificate ceremonies held April 26 through May 19.

The commencement ceremonies recognized students whose bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees were conferred by the university in August 2023, February 2024 or June 2024.
