The Village of Corfu held its Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday. The parade kicked off at noon, with the ceremony immediately following at the Pembroke Intermediate School.

The City of Batavia invites you and your organization to participate in the Memorial Day Parade on May 26. The parade lineup will be at the East Town Plaza starting at 8:30 a.m., with the parade commencing at 9:30 a.m. The parade should end at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Alva Place. We will have Marshals who will assign your unit a place in the parade.
When turning off Main Street onto Bank Street, all units are to be silent out of respect for a memorial service at the Veterans Monument on Bank Street.
Throwing of candy from vehicles is strictly prohibited.
Out of respect, there will be no political campaigning, such as signs or vote for are allowed. Our veterans served our country, not political affiliations.

The following is the schedule of events and activities being conducted this Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, by Botts-Fiorito Post #576, American Legion:
9:45 a.m. - Form up at the American Legion parking lot for the Annual Memorial Parade.
10:30 a.m. - Parade "Steps off"
11 a.m. - Memorial Day program commences at the Trigon Park Memorial
- Introduction and Welcome by Commander David A. Rumsey
- Invocation by Post Chaplain Gary Bassett
- National Anthem sung by Ms. Aubrey Puccio, Senior LHS!
- Introduction of the 2025 “Poppy Girl”- Ms. Brair DeBellis and 2 “Poppy Ambassadors” Noah and Elijah Ford
- Speaker: Mr. James Ellison, USN, Ret.
- Reading of list of deceased veterans who have passed away in the past year with the placement of Memorial flag for each veteran.
- Playing of "Taps" followed by Firing Squad volley
- Benediction and closing by Post Chaplain Gary Bassett
- Singing of “God Bless America” led by Aubrey Puccio and the combined Le Roy High School bands.
11:45 a.m. - DISMISS
- Hot dogs (Zweigles) and soft drinks free to all after Parade at the Legion Post Home located at 53 West Main Street immediately following the parade.
May is right around the corner, and that means organizers are preparing — and seeking participants — for the annual Memorial Day parade down Main Street, Batavia.
The city invites you and your organization to participate in the parade, set for a lineup at 8:30 a.m. on May 26 at the East Town Plaza. The event is to begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at approximately 10:30 a.m. at Alva Place downtown.
Parade Chairman Bob Bialkowski said marshals will be on site to assign participants a place in the parade.
“When turning off of Main Street onto Bank Street, all units are to be silent out of respect for a memorial service at the Veterans Monument on Bank Street,” he said. “Your support is greatly appreciated.”
Bialkowski is asking for RSVPs as soon as possible to schedule you on the parade roster. A certificate of insurance or “hold harmless” needs to be returned with the RSVP, he said.

The Memorial Day Parade is on May 27 in Batavia. The Parade lineup starts at 8:30 a.m. in the East Town Plaza.
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. marching up Main Street to Bank Street where it will conclude. Any Veterans wishing to participate and would like a ride please let us know ASAP.
All groups and participants are required to fill out a Hold Harmless Agreement. We are still accepting groups or organizations to participate.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #576 in Le Roy is proud to announce Abygale (Aby) Fernaays as our 2024 Poppy Girl.
Aby is the daughter of Nathan Fernaays and Farrah Nolan, and the granddaughter of Michael and Cheryl Fernaays of Le Roy and Douglas and Marie Nolan of Ocala, FL.
Aby and her family honor Memorial Day every year by remembering the sacrifice of the men and women who have given their lives for our country.
We are excited to have Aby and her family participate in this year’s Poppy Program and in the Memorial Day Parade in Le Roy on Monday, May 27.
The money raised by Aby and the Poppy Program will be used throughout the year to support our veterans in nursing homes and hospitals, along with assisting the color guard at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Pembroke. We appreciate your continued support.
The Memorial Day parade in Batavia is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, beginning at East Town Plaza. A previous time of 9:45 a.m was provided to The Batavian, and City Councilman Bob Bialkowski wants to make sure that anyone intending to participate in the parade should show up at 9:30 a.m. This is to ensure that it doesn't conflict with other ceremonies scheduled that day.
The parade is to travel west along Main Street and end at Alva Place.

On May 29, the lineup starts at 8:30 a.m. in Aldi Plaza. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and marches to Bank Street.
