Batavia Police to honor fallen heroes at annual Flag Commemoration Ceremony on May 28

The Batavia Police Department is proud to announce its annual Flag Commemoration Ceremony, honoring the memory of those who have served our community and have passed away. This solemn event is a tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our fallen heroes who have served our department and the community with distinction. 

The ceremony will take place on May 28 at 1 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery. The event will feature a brief ceremony, a moment of silence, and a reading of the names of those being honored. 

The Batavia Police Department invites the public to join us in paying respects to these brave individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice. 

We hope you can join us for this meaningful ceremony as we come together to pay tribute to those who have given so much.  Let us take a moment to remember and honor the sacrifices of those who have served our community and have passed on. Their legacy lives on in our hearts and in the work we do every day to keep our community safe.

Grand View Cemetery begins annual wreath sale

Grand View Cemetery, located on Route 33 in Batavia, will be holding its annual Holiday Wreath Sale. Wreaths are approximately 24 inches in diameter. Each wreath includes a red bow, berries, and pine cones. These wreaths are perfect for your front door or for the grave of a loved one.

To order wreaths please contact Joyce at 343-0877 or the office at 993-1317. Wreaths are $25 each and all orders must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Order pick up will be on Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Cemetery maintenance garage from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. All proceeds will go towards cemetery maintenance. 

Grand View Cemetery taking orders for Christmas wreaths to fund cemetery care

The Grand View Cemetery Board of Directors is selling Christmas wreaths either for your door or a grave. This is a fundraiser with the profits going to fund cemetery care.

Wreaths are 22" with red velvet, weatherproof bow, pine cones and holly berries. Wreaths are $20, including an easel stand if desired. Place orders by Nov. 10.

Pickup will be at the cemetery garage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 10. Orders may be placed by calling 343-0350 or 343-0877.

Chiavetta's Chicken Barbeque Benefitting Grand View Cemetery

Grand View Cemetery, 80 Clinton Street, Batavia, NY, Chicken BBQ  on Sunday, October 2, 2011, from 11:00 am until sold out.  The chicken is being cooked by Chiavetta's.The dinner sells for $8.50 and includes 1/2 chicken, homemade coleslaw and potato salad, roll & butter, and dessert.
