GoFundMe Batavia funeral expenses

Sabrina Cassidy Funeral Fund

By Judi Piscitello

While at the prayer table at Caring for the City Day this past Friday, the Care-A-Van prayer team was approached by Angelo Cassidy, asking for prayer and guidance as to how to obtain the funds for his wife Sabrina's burial.  Sabrina had lost her brother to cancer recently and had just returned from visiting her mother (who has been undergoing chemotherapy in Ohio). She was also excitedly preparing to welcome a new grandchild into the family when she noticed she was exibiting some of the same symptoms as her brother.  She couldn't bear the thought of having to tell her children that she, too, may be dying of cancer.  But on September 4th Sabrina passed out in her living room and was rushed to the hospital only to learn that a tumor had wrapped around her heart and lungs, cutting off the oxygen to her brain and leaving her brain dead.

The family has no money for funeral expenses, and because Sabrina had stated emphatically that she does not want to be cremated, the family has set up a GoFundMe account, hoping that others' hearts will be touched to donate to cover her funeral expenses.  I am told that Pastor John Keller from Northgate Free Methodist Church has agreed to do the funeral and help provide the family with cancer and grief counseling support. Let us offer whatever prayer and financial support we can at this devastating time!  Details can be found on their GoFundMe page:
