Batavia Girls Tennis gets heated up in final match to get a win in Brockport

It was the battle of the Blue Devils as Batavia took on Brockport late Thursday afternoon in Monroe County tennis action in Brockport. 

Batavia took all three singles matches and the first doubles contest to improve to 3-1 on the season. The deciding point came down to the third singles match as Batavia’s Eliana Cossitt won in three sets. 

After winning the first set 6-1, Cossitt lost in a second set tiebreak 4-7 to set up a thrilling third set. After falling behind 0-2 to Brockport’s Alex Salcido, Cossitt took control and gave Batavia the point they needed with a brilliant 6-3, third set victory.  

Batavia got wins from first singles player Kelsey Kirkwood 6-1, 6-3 and second singles player Ally Debo, who was equally impressive with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph. 

The first doubles tandem of Drew Stevens and Rahmeto Reinhardt remained unbeaten on the season, with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Batavia will hit the road again Friday at Penfield.

Girls Tennis: Batavia blanks Eastridge 7-0, picks up second win in a row

The Batavia Varsity tennis team evened its record at 2-2 with a 7-0 victory at Eastridge. It was the Blue Devils' second straight win after starting the season 0-2. 

Winning at singles were Kylie Tatarka, Lidia Pehrson, Dallas Lama and Savannah Freeman. 

Doubles winners were Maya Schrader/Casey Tatarka, Hannah Carney/Katelyn Witherow, and Mikalina Pellegrino-Scott/Lilana Espinoza.

Batavia will take on division rival Brockport on the road Thursday.

Batavia Girls Tennis Team Drops Season Opener

The Batavia Girls Tennis Team opened the season with a hard fought loss to Churchville-Chili 3-4.  Victorious for Batavia at 2nd singles was Michelle Richenberg 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 3rd singles Lisa Ferkinghoff, 6-3, 6-2, and at 4th singles Nicole Guilds 6-2, 6-0.  The next match is their home opener on Friday at 4:30 vs. Greece Arcadia/Olympia.

Thomas beats Batavia for title

Webster Thomas wrapped up a third-consecutive Monroe County League Division III title with a 4-3 win over Batavia in girls tennis.

Erika Hoppner beat Annie Schmidt 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 at second singles in the deciding match.
