'Emaciated' dog reportedly 'hanging out of the window' at Hutchins Street house

A caller to dispatch is concerned about she said appears to be an emaciated dog that is "hanging out the back window" of a residence on Hutchins Street. City police are responding.

UPDATE 6:29 p.m.: The officer said he was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence and that he'll have an animal control officer follow up tommorrow.

Renter on Bank Street reportedly left dog after moving

The woman who rented the lower apartment at 139 Bank St. in the City of Batavia is believed to have abandoned her dog after moving out. A neighbor called dispatch to report that the dog has been in the vacant residence for at least two days. An officer responded to the scene.

Dog locked inside gray truck in Kmart parking lot

A dog is reportedly locked inside a gray pickup truck in the parking lot at Kmart. A law enforcement officer is responding.

UPDATE 3:13 p.m.: The officer was unable to locate the gray Dodge pickup -- gone upon arrival. The officer is back in service.

Person in black Chevy Silverado said to have tossed cat out the window

A person reportedly tossed a cat out of the window of a moving vehicle in the vicinity of Darien Lake Theme Park. The vehicle is said to be a 2002 black Chevy Silverado registered to a Corfu resident. The vehicle was last seen heading west on Route 33. Law enforcement is searching for it now.

UPDATE 6:41 p.m.: The complainant told an officer that the cat was tossed out the driver's side window, north of the theme park's camping entrance. It was white, and it rolled a few times and then ran off. Someone is looking for it to check its well being and officers are still searching for the Silverado.

UPDATE 7:03 p.m.: A State Trooper found the suspect and interviewed her. The woman said that the cat is hers and that "it was underneath her car and not thrown." The Trooper is back in service. No word on whether the cat was found or if the owner is going back to try and retrieve her pet.

Small black dog locked inside red station wagon on Main Street, Oakfield

A small black dog is reportedly locked inside a red station wagon outside of the Caryville Inn in Oakfield. That's at 25 Main St. across from the post office. An animal control officer is responding.

UPDATE 2:35 p.m.: The officer says the dog is now out of the vehicle and taking a walk with its owner.

Pomeranian on Brookville Road, Alexander, tied outside without water

A Pomeranian is reportedly tied outside to its doghouse on Brookville Road in Alexander and has no water, which is a dangerous condition in this hot weather -- 82 degrees wth a heat index of 87. An officer will be responding to check on its welfare.

UPDATE 11:09 a.m.: An animal control officer reports the dog is not outside at this time and it does have water.

Oakfield apartment dwellers may have forgot their 'police dog' when they moved and it's running loose

A caller reports to dispatch that the neighbor's dog is running loose on Maple Avenue in Oakfield and the owners have moved out of their apartment, possibly leaving the dog behind. It is described as a "police dog and somewhat aggressive."

UPDATE 9:27 p.m.: Two Sheriff's deputies are scouting for the dog, which was last seen "by the mulch pile."

UPDATE 9:33 a.m.: They were unable to locate the dog. They are back in service.

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: A Sheriff's deputy has spotted the dog. It's in the area of Ledge Road and Route 77. It's a white German shephard with a blue collar. And its owner contacted authorities and told them the dog was missing. It will reunited with the owner shortly.

UPDATE: This afternoon it was determined that the white German shephard is owned by a member of law enforcement who lives in Batavia and who reported the dog missing very early this morning. So, apparently it's not the dog said to be running loose from a reportedly vacant apartment in Oakfield.

 

Dog locked inside red Pontiac with the windows up at Walmart

A dog or dogs are locked inside a red Pontiac with the windows up near the food entrance of Walmart. An animal control officer is responding to the complaint.

UPDATE 1:30 p.m.: The owner was paged and the officer advised the person about the danger of leaving a dog in a car with the windows up.

Two horses on Broadway Road in Darien Center believed to be abandoned

A caller reports two apparently abandoned horses at 746 Broadway Road in Darien Center. The caller was going to approach the horses and try to give them some food.

There's a barn and house on the property, and they appear abandoned as well.

"I am familiar with that address," an animal control officer tells dispatch.

A Sheriff's deputy is also responding.

UPDATE 2:18 p.m.: The horses are gone, therefore the animal control officer is not responding. Their owner was looking for a place to relocate them, according to the animal control officer, and was apparently successful. The horse owners had been renting the property and no longer live there. The landlord allegedly told people that the horses would probably be removed today. The deputy is adding narrative to his report and will be clearing the scene.

Two dogs locked in Cadillac in front of Peking Buffet

Two dogs are locked inside a Cadillac Escalade in front of the Peking Buffet at 8222 Lewiston Road in the Town of Batavia, which is in the same plaza as BJ's Wholesale Club. A caller is concerned for the canines' welfare and a Sheriff's deputy is responding.

Dog whimpering outside in the frigid air near Wolcott Street, Le Roy

A dog whimpering outside is of concern to a Le Roy resident who called the Emergency Dispatch Center to ask that police officers respond to check on its welfare. The location is somewhere by the north end of Wolcott Street, but no exact address was provided. The caller was out walking her dog and heard the animal's distress. Police are trying to locate the dog now.

UPDATE 8:56 p.m.: Heard nothing more on this call. FYI ...The National Weather Service in Buffalo says the temperature here is 9 degrees, with a possible low of 4 and a windchill factor of 0. (Mammals ought best be sheltered.)
