Bethany native pens sci-fi thriller to encourage another way 'to think about the world'

As a former teacher, Alexander graduate Mike Porter liked to investigate particular issues, including science fiction, the paranormal, and aliens, and it led him to questions about if the universe is so vast, where is everybody? His research and questions led him to pen his first book, "The Graveyard Relays."

Dennis F. Roberts

  Dennis F. Roberts, 79 of Attica, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. He was born in Buffalo on June 10, 1939 to the late Fredrick (Norma Ruth) Roberts. He is preceded in death by a sister Shirley Limpinsel, brothers-in-law Robert Heller, Matthew “Sonny” Parrish and fur baby Gidget.  

Denny was a member of Attica Volunteer Exempt Fire Department Benevolent Association, WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association and past member of the Mighty St. Joe’s Drum Corp. He retired from Town of Attica Highway Department and was caretaker of St. Vincent’s Cemetery for many years. Denny was a longtime member of Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish in Attica.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Jane (Parrish) Roberts of Attica; loving daughter Jody (Tim) Lutey of Stafford; beloved Pa to Rachel (Michael) Blecha of East Bethany; Matthew (Emily) Lutey of Batavia; Pop Pops beloved pride and joys, Macey & Preslee Blecha; Kylie & Claire Lutey; fur babies Cabela & CeCe. Beloved siblings, Paul (Linda) Roberts of Michigan; Ronald (Barbara) Roberts of Florida; Daralee (Donald) McCulloch of Attica; Michelle Carr and Frank of Arizona; Yvonne (Rex) Bishop of Colorado; brother-in-law Gene Limpinsel of Elma; sisters-in-law, Ann Heller of Florida; Joann Parrish, Nancy (David) Dimick of Attica; Cathy (James) Perl of Varysburg; Goddaughter Breanna Hummel, along with many loving nieces and nephews.  

Friends are invited to an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday April 27, 2019 at Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish, 50 East Avenue, Attica, NY 14011. Denny will be laid to rest in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, Attica.

Rosine Wloch

Rosine Wloch, 83 of East Bethany, passed away peacefully on Thursday (August 22, 2024) at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY.

She was born July 7, 1941 in Warsaw, NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Mae Catanese Bonadonna.

Rosine was a teacher at the former St. Anthony’s School for many years. She was a member of Ascension Parish, where she and her husband were very involved with activities, especially the Altar and Rosary Society. She also took part in the Notre Dame prayer group

 Rosine enjoyed cooking and quilting.  She cherished her time spent with her quilting group, sharing stories, laughter and creativity.  Her quilts are a testament to her kindness, patience and boundless creativity.  Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her students, family, friends and in every quilt she made. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Norbert Wloch of East Bethany. Daughter, Lori (Charles) Diamos of Illinois, Brian (Jennifer) Wloch of Virginia and Patrick (Amber) Wloch of South Carolina. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 2nd, 10:00am at Ascension Parish, South Swan Street, Batavia. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Mt. Morris, NY. at a later date.
