Bernadette A. Meyers Peterson

Bernadette (Bernie) A. Meyers Peterson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday July 8, 2023 at the young age of 63 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Batavia, a lifetime resident of the surrounding area and spent the majority of her life in manufacturing as well as tending to an oversize garden of green peas and potatoes on the family farm.

Bernie is survived by her life partner John Peterson of Warsaw and his son Jonathan of Alexander. Her siblings: Teresa (late Al) Thorley of Alexander, Jim (Linda) Meyers of East Bethany, Vince (Marie) Meyers of Alexander, Fran (Greg) Michalak of Ashville, Anne (Tom) Vanderbosch of Alexander, Tom (Heather) Meyers of Montezuma and Jen (Joe) Decker of Belmont. Also survived by aunts, and uncles, many nieces and nephews, grandnephews and a plethora of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Virginia Meyers.

In her final days, Vickie and George Matteson were always there to tend to her needs.

There will be a Celebration of Life at West Middlebury Baptist Church 4950 W Middlebury Road, East Bethany, NY 14054 at 10AM on Saturday July 22, 2023 followed by a gathering from 11AM to 3PM in the church social center.

She will be laid to rest next to her grandmother M. Cecelia Meyers at St. Vincent’s Cemetery in Attica, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wilmont Cancer Center 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642 (she received the most wonderful care from Dr. Yirinec and his staff at the Batavia location) or the York Animal Hospital Stray Animal Fund 2275 Main St., York, NY 14592 (who took the best care of her fur babies – Kitty, PK, and Renny). Shirley J. Parrish

  Shirley Jane (Waite) Parrish was born in Alexander on August 16, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Neva Conn Waite. She married George B. Parrish, Jr, her lifelong friend and the love of her life, on May 7, 1949 at the West Bethany Baptist Church.

Shirley was a 1945 graduate of Alexander Central School and the Rochester Business Institute in 1946.  She retired from the Alexander School in 1984 after 25 years of service, first in the library and later in the Business Office. A longtime member of the Alexander United Methodist Church, Shirley served in many capacities.  In late years, volunteering as a contact person for the American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Church. She truly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed traveling, needlework, reading and having family parties, and garage sales.

Shirley is survived by her husband George, and her three children, daughters Laura (Joseph) Schmieder of Alexander, and Karen (Allan) Cecchini of Silver Lake, and son Robert (Beth) of Bergen.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Noel (Robyn) Good of Pavilion, Robert (Max) Parrish of LeRoy and Kathryn (Andrew) Bogdan of Akron, plus two great-grandchildren, Nevan Good and Clara Bogdan, and many nieces and nephews. Shirley is also survived by sister-in-laws Mildred Waite and Carol Waite of Alexander, and brother-in-law Del Mills of Texas.

Calling hours will be Held on Wednesday, February 20, 2018 from 4-8 P.M. at the Marley Funeral Home, LLC, 135 Main St., Attica, NY 14011.  A Funeral Service will held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Alexander United Methodist Church, 10540 Main St, Alexander, NY 14005.

Report: Genesee County won't prosecute over NY SAFE Act's seven-round limit
