MARY LOU HOUSEHOLDER

MARY LOU HOUSEHOLDER, age 80, of Batavia, died peacefully on Thursday evening, August 23, 2018 at Unity Hospital. Mary was born in Mansfield, OH, on May 18, 1938 the daughter of the late Ralph and Effie (McNeely) Barrett, also preceded in death by siblings, Norman McNeely, William "Bunk" Barrett, Ralph "Jack" Barrett, Robert Barrett and Carole Ann Haag.  

Mary was raised in Ohio where she lived and worked for a good part of her life. She was very musically inclined, former majorette in High School, enjoyed sketching, water color paintings, quilting, sewing and a former Garden Club Member. Mary moved to Genesee County about 20 years ago where she has enjoyed dinner out with friends, but most importantly for her family as she loved being "Grandma Moo Moo" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Jill (Paul Adair) Pickard of E. Bethany, Joe Householder of Batavia and Jim Householder of Ohio; cherished grandchildren, Lisa (John) Zalacca, Scot (Katelin) Pickard and Sara (Josh Adair) Pickard; adoring great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Jason, Emma, Felicity, Evan and Ella; sister, Beverly (Charles) Bauer of Ohio; In-laws, Daryl Haag of SC, Pat Barrett of OK and Joan Barrett of Ohio along with being "sweet" Aunt Moo Moo to her many nieces and nephews.

Her family will be present 11am Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Mansfield Memorial Park for a Graveside Service before being laid to rest in the family plot. Please join the family 1pm at the Galion VFW, 229 Market Street Galion, OH for a luncheon following services.

Dennis F. Roberts

  Dennis F. Roberts, 79 of Attica, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. He was born in Buffalo on June 10, 1939 to the late Fredrick (Norma Ruth) Roberts. He is preceded in death by a sister Shirley Limpinsel, brothers-in-law Robert Heller, Matthew “Sonny” Parrish and fur baby Gidget.  

Denny was a member of Attica Volunteer Exempt Fire Department Benevolent Association, WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association and past member of the Mighty St. Joe’s Drum Corp. He retired from Town of Attica Highway Department and was caretaker of St. Vincent’s Cemetery for many years. Denny was a longtime member of Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish in Attica.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Jane (Parrish) Roberts of Attica; loving daughter Jody (Tim) Lutey of Stafford; beloved Pa to Rachel (Michael) Blecha of East Bethany; Matthew (Emily) Lutey of Batavia; Pop Pops beloved pride and joys, Macey & Preslee Blecha; Kylie & Claire Lutey; fur babies Cabela & CeCe. Beloved siblings, Paul (Linda) Roberts of Michigan; Ronald (Barbara) Roberts of Florida; Daralee (Donald) McCulloch of Attica; Michelle Carr and Frank of Arizona; Yvonne (Rex) Bishop of Colorado; brother-in-law Gene Limpinsel of Elma; sisters-in-law, Ann Heller of Florida; Joann Parrish, Nancy (David) Dimick of Attica; Cathy (James) Perl of Varysburg; Goddaughter Breanna Hummel, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Evelyn M. Barraclough

  Evelyn M. Barraclough, 56, of Attica passed away in the early morning of April 20, 2018 and became an Angel with her loving husband by her side at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo. She was born on July 4, 1961 in Batavia to her mother; Letha (Davis) Kreutter of Alexander and her late father Henry Kreutter and was raised on the family farm in Alexander.   In addition to her father, Evelyn is predeceased by her sister; Nancy Pierce; mother-in-law Beverly Barraclough

She met her husband, Howie, at Super Duper in Attica at 17 years old and he was the love of her life for the next 39 years.  Howie and Evelyn had many adventures together including raising 2 daughters, becoming grandparents, 10 years of tractor pulling and riding their motorcycles as much as they could. Evelyn was involved with the Attica Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Former Village of Attica Trustee, member of the Red Nights Motorcycle Club, and a life member of the TG@FC and former Color Guard member and supporter of the Alexander Fireman’s Band. Her smile was larger than life and brightened every room she entered.  She was taken too soon, and she will be deeply missed by so many. 

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband; Howard Barraclough Jr. of Attica; daughters Laura (Nicholas) Hanobik of Attica, LeeAnn (Jesse) McEwen of Batavia; siblings Barb (Fred) Desjardins of Alden, Margie (Keith) Filer of McDonough, NY., Howard (Catherine) Kreutter of Alexander, Sara (Robert) Weaver of Oakfield, Joseph (Tammy) Kreutter of Bethany; mother and father in law; Howard (Diane Storch) Barraclough Sr. of Attica; brother-in-law Lee Pierce of PA; sisters-in-law Laurie Bellucci of Attica and Lisa (James) Neory of Attica; grandchildren Mason and Abram McEwen along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ruth E. Lewis

BATAVIA - Ruth E. Lewis, 94, of Batavia, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at The Villages of Orleans Health and Rehabilitation Center in Albion.

Ruth was born September 25, 1924, in Lockport, a daughter of the late William and  Edna (Brooks) Cornell Hofert.

She was a sales clerk for the former W.T. Grant Co. in Batavia and lived in Washington Towers for 23 years.  She enjoyed playing BINGO.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Sam Williams) Rindell of Corfu, 2 sons, Keith Lewis of Batavia and Richard (Diane) Lewis of Pavilion; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lewis of Stafford; a brother, Donald (Norma) Hofert of Lockport; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.         

She was predeceased by her husband, Howard W. Lewis; a son, Walter Lewis; a daughter, Karen Rindell; a son-in-law, Richard Rindell; a brother, Kenneth Cornell and 4 sisters, Joyce DeMarco, Mary Briggs, Edna Schwertferger and Betty Farina.

Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Maple Lawn Cemetery, 10424 Bethany Center Rd in Bethany.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.  Arrangements were entrusted to the H.E. John Douglas "Jack" Moodie

East Bethany - John Douglas “Jack” Moodie, age 87, of East Bethany, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility, in LeRoy with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Moodie was born August 17, 1930 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late Douglas Anderson Moodie and Mabel King Moodie.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Moodie and his sister, Eleanor Urban.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joan Topham Moodie; his children, John Moodie of Albany, David (Michele) Moodie of Dansville, Russell (Ellen) Moodie of Webster, Mark Moodie of Conesus, Joanne (John) Holler of Vermont and Robert (Vinci) Moodie of Gates; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Moodie served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951-1953. He was a partner in Jay Cee Construction and then owner of J D Moodie Construction building many homes and commercial buildings in Western New York during the 1950's-1970's. A True Jack of all Trades he later worked for The Harris Corporation, Carlson Co., and then ultimately retired from Bausch & Lomb.

Jack and Joan traveled throughout the United States in their camper during retirement and when they stopped traveling, Jack became a volunteer at Crossroads House in Batavia and then delivered Meals on Wheels well into his 80's.

The family would like to thank the staff at LeRoy Village Green for their excellent care and compassion given to Jack and his family in the last few weeks.

Friends may call on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mary Immaculate Parish, 5865 Ellicott Street Road, East Bethany.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at the New York State Veteran's Nursing Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, New York 14020 or to Crossroads House, P.O.
