Angeleona “Angeline” “Ange” Cintorino, 91, of Batavia died October 31, 2014 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born Dec. 31, 1922 in Batavia, NY, daughter of the late Dominic and Carmela Suozzi of Potenza, Italy.  She was one of four sisters and three brothers who are all deceased.  Ange lived a life of devotion to her family, friends, and St. Anthony Church and Community Center.  Ange was an active member of the church choir, St. Anthony Home School Association, instrumental in the arrangement of many dances, decorating committees for which she had a great talent.  She was employed in the office of Doehler-Jarvis for many years.

Ange loved to please her family with holiday celebrations, delicious cooking, always remembering every birthday.  She had a real gift for making everyone who entered her home feel welcome.  Ange loved music, dancing, ice-skating, sewing, knitting, reading (once belonged to a book club), and going to lunch with friends. She and her late husband, Salvatore went to Dunkin Donuts almost daily.  Mom (Nana) also loved road trips and vacations to visit her children.  “Mom, you are in our hearts forever.  We love you.”

Angeline (Suozzi) Cintorino is survived by daughter, Maria Kinsella of Connecticut; two sons, Salvatore  (Margaret) of Vermont, and David (Nancy) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Julie and Kristine Kinsella; Jason (Jessica) Cintorino; Keaton and Lucas Cintorino; two great-grandchildren, Maya and Dominic Cintorino; along with Donald Suozzi, and many other nieces and nephews.

ARTHUR R. "BUZZ" LOWE – Age 82, of Oakfield, died peacefully Wednesday evening October 29, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born October 21, 1932 in Oakfield, a son of the late Harold and Erma (Snyder) Lowe, also preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Lowe; siblings, Edwin & Tom Lowe, Norma Semar and Beverly Klos.  

   Mr. Lowe was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict where he earned the Korean Service Medal w/Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service to our country. He retired in 1994 from UPS after 25 years of service and then spent 20 years as a courier for the Bank of Akron. A former member of the Oakfield Community Bible Church and First Presbyterian Church of Oakfield where he served as a Church Elder. Buzz was a well-known area "handyman", enjoyed bowling, woodworking and his once a month breakfast with his retired UPS buddies. His wife children and grandchildren will remember him as a strong, devoted family man who always put them first.

   Surviving is his beloved wife of 57 years, M. Carol (Oakes) Lowe of Oakfield; loving children, Raymond "Buzz" (Deborah) Lowe, Jan (Mark) Colopy and Jo (Jeff) Qamoos all of Oakfield; sisters, Midge (Larry) NiCastro of Albion, Arlene Scopano of FL; brothers-in-law, Herb (Fran) Oakes of NC, Milford (Jean) Oakes of SC; sisters-in-law, Nancy Lowe of LeRoy and Irene (Roger) Anderson of Batavia; 5 grandchildren, Kellie (Rob) Buchanan, Raymond (Buzzie) (Amanda) Lowe, Sarah Lowe, Ashley & Jessica Colopy; 6 great-grandchildren, Austin, Laney, Morgan, Nolan, Madison and Bentley along with many nieces and nephews.

Claude Caudill, 84, of Leicester died on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  He was born on December 16, 1929 in Fusonia, Kentucky a son of the late Riley and Abby (Singleson) Caudill.  Claude retired from Lapp Insulator in LeRoy.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Amburgy) Caudill whom he married on August 2, 1948. 3 sons, Norman (Debbie) Caudill of Wethersfield, Cleven (Theresa) Caudill of Perry, David (Cathy) Caudill of Perry, 4 daughters  Ruby Caudill of Batavia, Dorsy Caudill of Leicester, Claudia Caudill of Nunda, Abbie (John) Dueppengiesser of Perry; 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.

Margaret E. "Peggy" Riorden, 66, of Rochester formerly of Perry died on October 27, 2014 at her home in Rochester.  She was born in Rochester, New York on October 28, 1947 a daughter of the late Charles and Rita (Kelly) Simmons.  Peggy was a registered nurse while she lived in St. Louis for many years and worked in the US Postal Service in Rochester.  She was a member of the Celebrate Church in Leicester. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, antiques, shopping, crafts and loved animals especially her cat Mr. Miles.  Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a brother John Simmons.

Peggy is survived by a daughter Katherine (Eric) Bochetto of Rochester, 2 sons Jeffrey (Rosanna) Riorden of Durham, NC, Matthew (Sara) Riorden of St. Louis, MO, 5 sisters Theresa Richardson of Kodiak, AK, Barbara Simmons of Rochester, Marie (Joseph) Macko of Spencerport, Patricia Harper of Ovid, Christine Collins of Brooksville, FL, a brother James Simmons of Rochester, 3 grandchildren Alexandria Riorden, Brayden Bochetto and Quinn Riorden along with many nieces and nephews.

Mark A. Cicero, age 46, of Perry, died on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born in Warsaw, New York on April 24, 1968 a son of the late Norman and Patricia (Losey) Cicero.  Mark served with the US Navy.  Mark was a graduate of Perry Central School Class of 1986. He had worked for the Rochester Laborer’s Union, the former A & A Metal in Perry, Graver Technologies in Lima, and was currently working as a metal fabricator at Klein Steel in Rochester.  He enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his brother Vincent (Brenda) Cicero of Mt. Morris, 2 nephews Tylor and Dylan, 5 Aunts Shelby (Mark) Manous of Tate, GA., Shirley Biondolillo of Perry, Joyce Losey of Geneseo, Sharon (Gordon) Marble of Dansville, 2 Uncles Bobby Losey of Perry, Andrew (Gertrude) Cicero of Pensacola, FL., along with many cousins.

ELEANOR L. LUCE - 79, of East Pembroke, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon October 28, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 22, 1934 in Cowlesville, NY to the late Robert and Frieda (Grampp) Humel; also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert & Ernest Humel and Alice Martin.

   Mrs. Luce worked at the former Dohler-Jarvis, Kistner Concrete and Fontrick Door, Inc. She was a member of High Point Community Church, enjoyed old school country and bluegrass music, wild animals, her flower beds and Christmastime. A curious and simple woman who will be remembered as a wonderful and loving mother, sister and grandmother.

Chester W. Lew, of Byron, died October 27, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Unity Hospital, Rochester  NY.

A lifetime resident of Genesee County and born September 25, 1931, in South Byron, enjoyed gardening, birds, dogs, travel (50 states) and all the greats.

He was the only son of the late William and Sophie Lewandoski.  Mr. Lew is survived and loved by his wife of 50 years, Eunice Bennett Lew.

Mr. Lew was a retired journeyman electrician, who worked 27 years at Owens-Illinois in Brockport, and 14 years at Adelman’s Electric in Batavia. He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia, the Byron Historical Society, the West Batavia Hunt Club, the Polish Falcons’ Nest #493, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1602, the Tennessee Squire Club, the Bluebird Society, Volunteers for Animals, the GMP Union, and the YWCA. Mr. Lew was a member of the Gillam Grant Center and the Seven Springs Country Club.

He graduated from Batavia High School, attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, and Genesee Community College. Mr. Lew was in the US Army for four years during the Korean War and reached the level of Corporal. He retired from the Brockport Credit Union after 30 years as Board Member.

Surviving are an only son Eric (Janet) Saile of Batavia; daughter Sharon (Ron) Reynolds of Milan, Ohio; our two chosen daughters Laurie (Jim) Vogt of Byron and Nita Tolejko of Batavia; six grandchildren Jason Saile, Ellen Traver, Sarah Saile, Richard Ryan, Mary Ryan, Sara Brunner; three sisters Helen Sikorski and Jean Glowacki, Mary Luplow. He is preceeded in death by his four late sisters Mary McCarthy, Nellie Kearns, Fran Smith and Kay Miller.

There are no calling hours, but a memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia at 1 p.m. on November 1, 2014, with a luncheon to follow.  Honorary Bearers will include Nick D’Aurizio of Batavia, Jim Vogt of Byron, Earl Roth of Elba, Frank Wojak of Rochester, George Heins of Byron, and Todd Nowak of Byron.

BATAVIA - Robert C. "Bob" Bird, of Batavia, New York died October 27, 2014 at UMMC.

He was born October 13, 1928 in Batavia, the son of Charles F. and Pearl (Morley) Bird.

He was very active in high school sports playing golf, basketball, baseball and football.  In 2002 he was honored to be among the first group inducted into the Batavia Blue Devils Athletic Hall of Fame.

In 1950, during the Korean War, he was drafted into the Army.  He was stationed in Germany where he played on the 2nd and 4th Division Golf Teams and played in the Berlin Open.  He was an Industrial Engineer at Sylvania and retired when the company closed their Batavia facility.  For several years he enjoyed working as a golf instructor at Terry Hills C.C.

Bob was a Member and Past-President of Stafford County Club.  In 1957 he set the course record of 65, which he held for many years.  He was Men's Club Champion sixteen times and was awarded an Honorary Membership in 2007.  Bob had his greatest golfing experience in 1984 when he qualified to play in the U.S. Senior Open at Oak Hill C.C. in Rochester, New York. His happiest days started at the YMCA where he would meet his lifelong friends for an early morning workout and swim - then out for coffee - then out to his second home at Stafford C.C. for an often profitable round of golf.  He lived the good life....

Although he had been in failing health for several years, he remained in good spirits and looked forward to going out for coffee with friends several mornings each week.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley (Mitzi) Bird; step-daughter Christine Steves of Wisconsin, and step-son Jim (Kim) Peterson of Conesus Lake; grandchildren Damian, Monica, Colleen, Erin (Pete) and Shannon, and great-grandson Dominik.  He is also survived by his first wife, Arlene C. Bird, and their daughters Robin Connelly of Bel Air, Md. and Julie (Rodney) Smith; grandchildren Laura, Carin, Brian and Jordan. Also sisters-in-law Marilyn (Charles) Wilson of Missouri and June (Gene, deceased) of Maine. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Shirley Paine.  Also surviving are his brother-in-law, Ted Paine, nieces Peggy (John) Cunningham and Judy (George) Ziobrowski, nephew John (Sue) Mikel and their families.

At Bob's request there are no calling hours.  Friends and family are invited to share memories and celebrate Bob's life at a casual gathering to be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at Bohn's Restaurant, Clinton St. Rd. Batavia. Bob chose to be cremated and his remains will be buried at Byron Cemetery where services will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to a charity or organization of donor's choice.

John J. Gavlak, 87, of Perry, died on Sunday October 26, 2014 at the VA Center in Batavia. He was born on June 15, 1927 in East Douglas, MA. to the late Julius (Susan Susienka) Gavlak.
He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II and with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He is preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Francis Gavlak and a sister Helen Fox.

John retired from Cipriano Brothers Construction in Mt. Morris where he had worked for 36 years.
He was a former member of the Perry Kiwanis, and a member of the Perry VFW. He enjoyed gardening, reading, coin collecting, antiques, traveling and going to the casino. 

He is survived by his loving wifeRegina (Petrovitz) Gavlak whom he married on January 17, 1953; children Karen (Douglas) Heiby of Perry, Mary Jane Gavlak of Snowflake, AZ., Regina (Russell) Flint of Warsaw, David Gavlak of Syracuse, Steven Gavlak of Warsaw, Michael Gavlak of SanFidel, N.M.; sisters Pauline Gavlak of East Douglas, MA., Mary Plante of Manchaug, Ma.; brother Julius (Evelyn Cronin) Gavlak of Culver City, CA.; grandchildren Timothy (Bridget) Gavlak, Derek (Heather) Heiby, Devon (James) Abejo, Julie, Thomas,  John Grills; 2 great grandgrandsons Ethan and Trenton Gavlak, along with many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine E. Jellison, age 83, of Silver Springs, passed away on Monday October 27, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.  She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 4, 1931 a daughter of the late John and Eugenia (Schweichler) Dulak.  Lorraine was a home health aide who worked for Health and Wellness in Leicester. She always took time to care for others whether at work or at home.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Leicester, Moose Club in Warsaw and the VFW in Perry. She volunteered for the Wyoming County Victim Services for many years. Lorraine enjoyed cooking, gathering with friends at the community center at her apartment complex, and preparing food for some of their functions and  enjoyed spending time with her family especially seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by a son: Harvey Jellison, a great grandson Tyler Stowell, 2 brothers Thomas and Russell Dulak and 2 sisters  Dorothy Brown and Joan Hyman.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Brenda (Clayton “Beeper”) Stowell, Dianne (David) Ott both of Silver Springs, a sister Arline Stoeckl of Cheektowaga, 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.  Family and friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday October 29th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 N. Rose J. Brandetsas, 81, of Perry died on Friday October 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Mt. Morris on April 5, 1933 a daughter of the late Samuel and Angelina (Amoroso) Bonadonna.  Rose was the office manager for her husband’s dental practice in Perry, and later worked for SUNY Geneseo as a secretary until her retirement.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Perry and the Silver Lake Country Club and a former member of the Tuesday Club in Perry.  Rose enjoyed cooking, knitting, going on walks, traveling, shopping, going out to eat and taking care of her family. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by 2 brothers Nicholas and Anthony Bonadonna
 

She is survived by her husband Dr. Peter Brandetsas whom she married on July 14, 1957. A son Craig (Terri) Brandetsas of Mentor, OH,  2 daughters Kim (Michael) Winter of Warsaw, Lisa Martin of Oakland, CA,  a sister Joanne (Kenneth) Warzocha of Rochester, 6 grandchildren Ken (Melissa) Winter, James (Megan) Winter, Michael (Rachel Hains) Winter, Christian, Chandler and Cameryn Brandetsas, 2 great grandchildren Talan and Mya Winter along with many nieces and nephews.

Barry W. Bower, 81, of Hanover, Pa., entered into God’s eternal care Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2014) at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of Suzanne M. (Del Barto) Bower of Hanover.

Born Oct. 26, 1932, in Batavia, he was the son of the late Roland H. and Vivian (Chapman) Bower.

Barry was retired from Scott Foresman Company in New Jersey after working there many years. He was a graduate of Le Roy High School and the State University Teachers College in Geneseo. He was a member of Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, the Rotary, Torch Club in Gettysburg, Republican Club, Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services (SAVES), he also worked the local elections and was a former Batavia City Councilman. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Barry enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He loved the Batavia Muckdogs, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Lynn B. Riccobono and her husband Francis of Batavia, and Wendy S. Hagerman and her husband Philip A. of Hanover; six grandchildren, Jennifer Kowalcyk, Patrick Witt, Amanda Kowalcyk, and Stephen Kowalcyk, Brandi Mayers, Ashley Albaugh, and one great-granddaughter, Cheyene Rudisill; four siblings, Brian, Robin, Candace, and Craig Bower.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Bower and Roland Bower Jr.

A graveside service was held at Annunciation Cemetery, McSherrystown, Pa., with Pastor Louis Nyiri officiating.

Charles W. Roche, 76 of Batavia formerly of North Java died October 25, 2014 after a lengthy illness.

He was born in North Java on January 19, 1938, son of the late Charles F. and Alice Schier Roche.

He served in the National Guard for six years obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and completed his infantry training at Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Bliss, TX.

After military service, he worked for Charles Kerwin Construction for 5 years.  Then employed by Trojan Industries, a heavy equipment company for 28 years in Batavia. He then worked for Bennett Manufacturing Company in Alden, NY for six years before retiring. After that he worked for 10 years part time as a security guard at the Veterans State Nursing Home in Batavia.

He belonged to the North Java Fire Co for 45 years and was an avid baseball player for the town of Java and a long time Bowler. He spent several years coaching minor league and little league baseball in Batavia.

As a long time member of the American Legion Post #637 in Strykersville he held many offices including three year Commander.  He was a three-time Wyoming County Commander, and 8^th District Aide as well as Sergeant-at-Arms for the Department of New York in 2009.

Surviving are his two sons, Dr. Charles L. (Stacey) Roche of Buffalo and Thomas (Elizabeth) Roche of Suwanee, GA and six grand children. Five sisters, Mary Borek of Florida, Rita Marvin of Tennessee, Rowena (Norm) Gerhardt of Marilla, Ann (Ken) Bush of Chili Center, and Theresa (Don) Simons of Strykersville, along with several nieces and nephews and special friend Joan Smith.  He was the brother of the late Francis, Robert, Vincent, Donald and Florence (Leo) Bauer.

Calling hours will be from 5-8 PM on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at the Marley Funeral Home in Attica, 135 Main St.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday October 30, 2014 at the Holy Family Church in North Java (formerly St. Nicholas) 4316 Route 98 North Java, NY 14113.  Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery North Java.

Paul A. Marone, 92 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday October 25, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born on April 16, 1922 in Newark, New York to the late Emil (Rose Van Detta) Marone. He is preceded in death by brothers Dominic and Emil Jr.; sisters Concetta Merritt-White, Marie Rollins-Starling and Angeline Marone.

Mr. Marone was a proud WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He was the first Registered Pharmacist at Genesee Memorial Hospital serving the hospital for 30 years until his retirement. He also worked part time at Dean’s Drug Store, and in 2009 retired from Burling Drug, Corfu. He was an avid tennis player and won some local tournaments in years past. Mr. Marone was a member of Resurrection Parish.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Esther (Burk) Marone of Batavia; children Pamela (John) Notebaert of Bloomfield; David (Regina) Marone of Brimley, MI; Margaret “Peggy” Marone of Batavia; brother John (Jane) Marone of Lancaster; sister Geraldine Rowcliffe of Brooksville, FL; 7 grandchildren Danielle (Thomas Feeley) Notebaert M.D., Andrew (Angela) Notebaert, Brigid (Steve) Heiny, David (Shannon) Marone Jr., Daniel Marone, Kathleen Marone, Nikole Marone; 12 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
