Florence was a graduate of Castile High School. She worked at the former Ayers Drug Store in Perry and for many years was a saleswoman for Watkins Products. She was a member of the Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry where she was active in many church including the church choir, a former deacon and elder. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Perry Chapter and Livingston County Chapter where she was a former treasurer for the Perry Chapter and New York State officer: Past Associate Grand Warder, and Daughters of the American Revolution, Wyoming County Chapter. She enjoyed knitting, golfing, bowling, playing bridge and the organ.

She is survived by daughters Lois Potts of Williamsville, Bette Jean Wolcott of Perry; son Robert (Nancie) McBride of Ithaca; 7 grandchildren Thomas Potts (the late Michele Potts), Janet (Monty) Shatney, Andrew (Teena) Potts, Randy (Ellen) Jordon, Jeff (Debra) Jordan, Todd McBride and Kellie (Scott) Milhollen; 10 great grandchildren Elizabeth and William Shatley, Zachery and Jodi Potts, Desiree, Tyler and Travis Jordon, Morgan, Autumn and Noelle Milhollen; 4 great-great- grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 19th at 11:00 AM at the Brick Presbyterian Church N. Main St. Perry. She will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.

She was born November 19, 1923 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Victoria Spina Tessitore.

A 1941 Batavia High School graduate, she was a member of St. Mary's Church, member of the former Sertoma Club of Batavia, the Mother's Club at St. Mary's Church. She loved baking and cooking and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Frank J Calarco, Sr., passed away on August 23, 1987.

Surviving are her children, Anthony (Judy) Calarco, Sr. and Mary (James) Smith, both of Batavia and Nicholas (Marcia) Calarco of Oakfield; her son-in-law, Ronald Moscicki of Batavia; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Peter Rossi of LeRoy and Donald Ball of Washington, D.C. along with several nieces and nephews.

She is the mother of the late Frank J. Calarco, Jr. who passed away on May 3, 1974 and Victoria "Vicki" Moscicki, who passed away on August 13, 2015 and sister of the late Joseph Tessitore, Cecilia Ball, Rose Pellegrino, Helen Pellegrino, Angeline Falcone, Clara Rossi and Jennie LaFarnara.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 18 Ellicott Street, Batavia.  She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.

LeRoy/ Batavia - Virginia S. Niebch - Clark, 96, of LeRoy, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Ann's Home, in Rochester.

Mrs. Clark was born October 25, 1918 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Fred and Lulu (Sweet) Sloat.

She is predeceased by her husband, Wayne C. Niebch, and William Clark, Sr.

Survivors include a son, Wayne (Mary) Niebch of CO; a daughter, Marcia Niebch of Rochester; a brother: Fred Sloat 3 grandchildren, Kimberly (Fred) Amey, Kathryn Niebch and Ryan Niebch; a great-grandson, Jacob Amey and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  

She was the sister of the late of the late Warren "Bus" Sloat and Geraldine Long.

Elba -

Mr. Hynes was born August 27, 1938 in Batavia, the son of the late William and Doris Watts Hynes.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School and Rochester Business Institute, Bill was a member of Padre Pio Parish – Our Lady of Fatima Worship Site and he was a First Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in LeRoy. He also served on the Elba Town Board for seven years.

Bill dedicated his life to the fire service in Genesee County. He served with the LeRoy Volunteer Fire Department from 1961-1968. From there he served with the Town of Batavia Fire Department from 1968-1980 serving as chief in 1978 and 1979. He is a current member of the Town of Elba Fire Department, joining in 1980 and served as chief from 1990-2003. He served as president of the board of directors of the Elba Fire Department from 2004-2013. He was also a life member of the Western New York Fireman’s Association and the New York State Fire Chief’s Association. Bill served on the Genesee County Mutual Aid Advisory Board, where he served as chairman for two years.

Bill received numerous accolades from local assemblymen, town officials, village officials and senators for his many years of dedicated service to the fire community. January 25, 2003,  was declared “Bill Hynes Day” in Elba.

Known for his quick wit and humor, those who knew him will remember his classic one-liners.

He is predeceased by his wife, Rita Reiner Hynes who passed away in 1996 and his son, Michael Edward Hynes who passed away in 1976. 

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Gould) Hynes, whom he married January 30, 2004; two daughters, Sandi (Tom) Boryczka  and  Beth Hynes, both  of Elba; his step-son, Kevin Finucane of Bergen and four grandchildren, Ashley, Jennifer, Emily and Austin.

Friends may call on Friday, September 11^th, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, where his fireman’s service will be held at 7 p.m. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12^th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Father Thaddeus Bocianowski, rector of Padre Pio Parish will celebrate Bill’s Mass. He will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.

   Age 68, of Batavia, died peacefully Thursday September 3, 2015 at the Leo Center for Caring in Irondequoit. Judy was born in N. Tonawanda, NY on January 14, 1947, to the late Willard and Pearl (Russell) Platter, also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dellapenta in 2013 and her brother, James Platter.

   Mrs. Dellapenta was very active in the area, having been an EMT with the Crittenden Fire Co., chairman of the Genesee County Fair Parade and a member of the Fair Queen Board. Judy worked for many years as a nurse aid at the former St. Jerome's Hospital while holding true to the promise she made to herself many years ago, and in 1997 she achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, at the age of 50 she became an LPN. Following her retirement she travelled cross country and continued her pastime and love of collecting Santa's, she was also a member of the "Red Hatters" in Florida where she had settled for a time.

   Surviving are her loving children, Christine (Michael) Heatherman, Jr. of OH and their children, Jessica and Amanda; Cynthia (Gordon Smith) Perez of Batavia; Kevin (Sandra) Gerrish of FL and their children, Kelsey, Quinn Gerrish and Drew Peczerwinski; brother, William Platter of FL, twin brother, Jack (Michelle) Platter of Wilson, NY and sister, Susan (Robert) Gregg of N. Tonawanda; sister-in-law, Carol Platter of Amherst along with many nieces and nephews.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

   The family will be present from 4-8 p.m. on Friday September 11, 2015 at the MICHAEL S. John retired from Westinghouse Corporation where he worked for 30 years. A part time farmer, he enjoyed farming the land in East Bethany NY, hunting and fishing. After retiring he and Clara moved to Attica where they continued to lead busy lives spent traveling, playing cards and sharing their love of life with family and friends. One of the greatest joys of both their lives were their many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  John was known to be small in stature but big of heart. He was a loving husband and wonderful father. John enjoyed good health most of his life and continued to hunt and fish well into his later years. He was also known to have a “sweet tooth” and a competitive spirit.

He is survived by his four children, Robert Rembas of East Aurora NY, Shirley Nichols of Attica NY, Mary Ann (Bruce) Kirchoff of Rochester NY, Annette (Rick) Morrison of Alexander NY; eleven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; a loving sister Helene Zaremski of Alexander NY. He was the father of late twin sons, James and John Rembas and the brother of the late Joseph and Chester Rembas, Jennie Spring and Jean Reiter.

Rochester – Mrs. Mary Hehn, age 99, of Rochester, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home, where she had resided the past 10 years.

Mrs. Hehn was born February 29, 1916 in Rochester, a daughter of the late John Sr. and Anna Boyko Zastrocky. 

Her husband, Harold G. Hehn, passed away in 1965.

She is survived by her brother, John (Claire) Zastrocky, Jr. of Churchville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is the sister of the late Stella Maddock, Michael Zastrocky and Katherine Snyder.

Rebecca A. “Becky” Watson, 42, of Batavia, a Licensed Practical Nurse at United Memorial Medical Center, died Thursday, September 3, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Watson was born April 3, 1973 in Batavia, the daughter of Danny M. and Sandy J. (Bates) Snell, both of Batavia.

She enjoyed karaoke.

Surviving along with her parents is her husband, Eric M. Watson, whom she married March 14, 1998, her daughter, Melissa Watson of Batavia, her brother, Danny Snell Jr. known as "Little Brother" of Batavia, a sister-in-law, Sherry Watson of Bergen and many aunts, uncles and friends.

Robert was a United States Army Veteran. He worked for General Motors in Tonawanda for 35 years. Robert was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Robert enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, water skiing, boating and go carts. Robert also enjoyed scratch offs and horse races. He was well liked and best known for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife Rose (Baker) Pratt; children Linda Pratt of Orchard Park, Peggy (Larry) Strohm of Attica, Gary (Sara) Pratt of Batavia; brother Donald (Diane) Pratt of Florida; sisters Marjory Wallace of CO, Hattie Mosher of Brockport; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Thompson worked as a Highway Maintenance worker for the New York State Department of Transportation. He was a life member of the Fish & Game Protected Association at Godfrey’s Pond which he was also a former board member of for over 20 years. Mr. Thompson loved riding and fixing motorcycles, but what he loved the most was spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter.

He is survived by his loving wife Robin (Doktor) Thompson of Bergen; son Steven Thompson of Batavia; daughter Mary Thompson of Batavia and granddaughter Madison Tryon of Newfane.

She is survived by children Gary (the late Cherie), James (Paula), Bradley (Denise) Dean and Julie (John) Neth all residing near her in Alexander. Also surviving are her 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as her best friend and sister-in-law Audry Bea.

Batavia ~ Gary L. Tooley, age 76, of East Main Street, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, August 29, 2015.

     While in grade school, he developed polio and spent many months in Children’s Hospital in Buffalo.  His young desire to walk and play again, along with excellent care at the hospital, saw him eventually fully recovered.

     Gary attended Northwestern Univ. in Chicago and Asbury College in Wilmore, KY.  As a young man, he worked for Western New York State Lines, a family trucking business, on Pearl Street Road in Batavia, as a Fleet Superintendent and later as Vice President of Operations until the untimely death of his father, the owner.

     He loved gardening, refinishing furniture and had a keen business mind.  Later in life, he realized an interest in helping others with serious health problems, so he trained and became a Home Health care giver for many years until an infection in his right foot caused the loss of that leg.  Gary was never heard to complain about this disability, but he greatly missed providing care to his many patients through Rochester General Hospital.

     Gary is survived by his children; Timothy (Loralee) Tooley of Medina, Jeffrey Tooley of Fonda, NY, Jonathan (Charlene) Tooley of Batavia, Ruth (Randy) Carter of Kingston, GA and David (Celena) Tooley of Goldtown, W. Virgina; sister,Marcia (Sam) Yacuzzo of LeRoy; brother, Gordon (Kathleen Blackburn) Tooley of Medina; mother of his children, Barbara Tooley; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.  He was predeceased by his wife, Gayle Tooley.   

     Family and friends are invited to attend Gary’s Service of Remembrance on Friday, Sept. 4 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, 5 East Main St., LeRoy.  Interment in the Cowlesville Cemetery will be private.
