Barbara was a graduate of Attica High School Class of 1958. During her years in the Attica Community, she is best known for her devotion to children of the community running her own child daycare. For approximately 45 years, she nurtured children ages birth to school age enjoying all their stages, planning activities for them, and feeling proud of them as they head off to kindergarten. She was the home for many school age children after school and would enjoy talking to them about their days. In her recent years, she was well known to be walking around the village with her beloved Shetland sheepdog, Bentley, and enjoying the accomplishments of her two grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Colleen (Dave Jennings) Gill of Attica; her grandchildren Cameron Hodge of San Diego and Tarryn Hodge of Attica; a sister Janet (Rolf) Schroeder of Florida; a niece Donna (Rich) Spofford; a grand-niece Drea Watson all of Greece and a nephew Scott (Sandy) Merkle of Batavia.

Gayle graduated high school in 1965 from Kenmore West. Following her high school graduation she obtained a job at Brand Names Wholesale Distribution until its closing. She then began working at Motorola/Presolite where her mother had also obtained work. After Motorola's closing and her mother's retirement, Gayle went to work in East Aurora, NY at Fisher-Price Toys as a Customer Service Representative in the electronics department. Gayle has always had a special fondness for animals in general and for cats and kitties in particular. She and her mom took in and fed many strays.
Gayle is survived by two half siblings; David J. Price and Janice J. Price. She is also survived by cousins James A. Tait and Cheryl A. Tait of Marilla, Donald M. Tait of Welland, Ontario, John D. Tait of New Brunswick and Robert P. Tait of St. Catherines, Ontario. Gayle has been surrounded with a number of special friends among who are Carol Conrad of Freedom and Joyce Griffen of Varysburg.

Batavia ~ Richard G. Calkins, age 85, of Dewey Avenue, passed away Thursday evening (May 19, 2016) at United Memorial Medical Center.
Dick, as everyone called him, retired from LeRoy Machine, in later years known as LeRoy Industries, after 42 years of service, and where he had many great friends. He enjoyed camping, and for many years, belonging to the NCHA, the National Campers & Hikers Association. He also participated in square dancing with the Batavia Twirlers for many years. Dick also enjoyed his sports and the 12 years that he and Lois spent their winters in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 1/2 years, Lois Handyside Calkins; his daughters, Susan (Mark) Perovich of Dansville and Karen Mills of Lime Rock; his son, Richard (Dawn) Calkins of Batavia; his brother, Lester Calkins of Rochester, his sister, Brenda Macartney of Rochester, along with many precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Hoskins.
Family and friends are welcome attend Dick's graveside service on Thursday, May 26 at 1:00 P.M. in Machpelah Cemetery in LeRoy.

Age 53, of Batavia, died unexpectedly Thursday May 19, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home on Monday. He was born October 16, 1962 in Batavia, a son of Charlie (Kaye) Brown of Alexander and Eloise (Bartz) of Scotia, NY.
Duane lived most of his life in Alexander and was very active and in constant support of the community. He was most visible as the manager of the VFW Beachhead-Alexander, was co-owner with his wife of D & M Cleaning, LLC, property owner of Hair Studio B and J-Dub's Pizza & Subs in Alexander. Duane was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he was hardworking, kind, enjoyed golf, had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend to all.
Surviving is his beloved wife whom he married in 2007, Maureen (Horre) Brown of Batavia; son, Roger (Nicole Eldridge) Brown of LeRoy; step-children, Phillip Napierala of Batavia and Danielle Napierala of Rochester; sister, Cheryl (Tony) Hurd of Branchport; grandchildren, Arianna and Gabrielle Brown; step-brothers and sisters; extended family along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present from 4:00 - 8:00PM on Sunday May 22 and Monday May 23 at the MICHAEL S. Avon - Lee F. Toal, 69, of Avon, passed away Thursday, (May 19, 2016) at Teresa House, in Geneseo, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Toal was born March 8, 1947 in Batavia, a son of the late Francis and Martha (Scott) Toal.
Lee was a gifted mechanic and carpenter. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
Most of all, Lee was a family man. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is the husband of Carol (Armbrewster) Toal. The two enjoyed 50 years of marriage having celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 26.
Surviving along with his wife is a daughter, Barbara (Karl) Kilthau of IL; grandchildren, Justin (Pearl) Kilthau, Joshua Kilthau, Dana (Stephanie) Kilthau, Tara (Franklin) Boucherie, Leann Keech, Noah Toal, and Ethan Toal; great-grandchildren, Eric and Josiah Kilthau, Alexis, Kylie, and Braylin Boucherie, and Bentley Kilthau; two brothers, Donald (late Nadine) Toal of Idaho and Neal (Diane) Toal of FL; two sisters, Sylvia (Curt) Maskell, and Carol (late Albert) Huff both of Batavia. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Lee is preceded in death by his son, Lee M. Toal, a granddaughter, Kendra Leigh Toal, and brothers, Carl and James Toal.

Batavia - Nancy D. Vallese, 80, of Batavia, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Martin Linsin House, in Albion.
Mrs. Vallese was born March 30, 1936 in Wyoming, NY, a daughter of the late Forest and Ruth (Carlson) Dring.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and graduated from Wyoming High School. She was an avid bowler and member of the Genesee Valley WBA.
She was predeceased by her husband A. James Vallese, a daughter, Susan Vallese, a granddaughter Mallory Hale and a sister, Susan Cornelius.
Survivors include 3 sons, Christopher "Vin" Vallese of Newfane, Steven Vallese of Batavia and Mark (Jane)Vallese of Bergen; a daughter, Elizabeth Vallese of Chesapeake, VA; 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa (Erik), Sean, Lauren, Derek (Sam), Cody, Alexis (Ryan), Amanda, Kirsten, Giovanni and Gabriel; 6 great grandchildren, Kalon, Aiden, Connor, Alyssa, Arianna, Liam and soon to be Finley. She is also survived by her birth daughter Emily and her dear family at Martin Linsin Residence.
Her Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 am Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church, 303 E. Main St., Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martin-Linsin Residence, P.O. Batavia - Richard Brenkus, 86, of Batavia, a foreman at Niagara Mohawk Power Co. in Batavia, died on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Batavia Health Care Center, LLC, in Batavia.
Mr. Brenkus was born April 22, 1930 in Batavia, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Balicki) Brenkus.
He was a 1948 graduate of Batavia High School.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (Cecere) Brenkus, whom he married on February 3, 1951; 1 daughter, Beth (Joseph) Starowitz of Batavia; 1 brother, Donald Brenkus of FL; 3 grandchildren, Eric (Mellisa) Gahagan of Batavia, Brian (Zahra) Gahagan of DE and Katie Gahagan of SC, 2 great-grandchildren, Grant Gahagan and Meg Gahagen, both of Batavia and a niece and a nephew.

LeRoy ~ John E. "Jack" Konarski, age 81, of Randall Road, passed away at home on Tuesday afternoon (May 17, 2016) in the loving presence of his family.
Jack was a very loving man, who had a great sense of humor. He loved animals, wood carving & whittling and reading. He was a member of the Living Waters Church and Godfrey's Pond, where he enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol Papke Konarski; daughter, Lori Hawkins of Stafford; son, David (Jane) Konarski of Lakeville; grandchildren, John (Cheryl) Burrs, William Konarski, Richard Konarski, James (Elaina) Konarski, Jennifer (Devon) Saltsman, Shawna Hawkins and Nick Hawkins; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rita (Robert) Schmeer and Betty (Donald) Angst and his grandsons, Michael Burrs and Christopher VanBuskirk.

LE ROY — Donald W. “Ben” Wright died peacefully Friday morning (May 13, 2016) at the Le Roy Village Green, after a long battle with COPD and chronic heart failure.
He was a well-known and respected self-employed local contractor for many years. A Le Roy native and lifelong resident, he will be missed by friends and family including his loving wife, Shari (Soccio) Wright.
Ben was a longtime member of the Le Roy Moose Family Center (Lodge 1132), which he served as Membership Chairman for 20 years and as Treasurer for two terms. He served on several committees including membership for two years and sponsored 225 new and former members — the second-highest total in the history of the Lodge. Mr. Wright received a Fellowship Degree of Honor in 1992.
He also served as President and Vice President of the Old Reel Collectors Association (ORCA), and was for many years a columnist for “ORCA Reel News” magazine. He was the author of five books on antique spinning reels, and was known as the spinning-reel “guru” by many collectors worldwide.
Ben was a starting guard for the 1962-63 Le Roy varsity basketball team — ranked among the greatest in the school’s history — and was one of five players named to the 1963 Class A All-Tournament team. The team was inducted into the Le Roy Oatka Knights Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
Ben enjoyed all sports, including fishing.
He was the son of the late Bernard Wright and Helen Docking; and half-brother of the late James Uhly.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his brothers Larry (Pam) Wright of Le Roy and Bernard (Deb) Wright of Alexandria, Va.; half-brother, Dave Uhly; half-sister, Barb Uhly; children, Marcey (Charles) Fox of Livonia, Kory (Sarah) Wright of Geneseo; and Kelly (Ray) Coniglio of Le Roy; sister-in-law, Laurie (Pattie) Soccio of Grant, Fla.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
There will no calling hours or funeral service. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life from 1 to 4 p.m. June 25 at the Moose Family Center, Bank Street, Le Roy. Memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation (www.copdfoundation.org)

KENNETH B. BARLOW
Age 78, of Batavia, died peacefully Tuesday evening May 10, 2016 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1938 in Warsaw, NY.
Mr. Barlow was an electrician at the former Dohler-Jarvis and was retired from the Eastman Kodak, Co. and a longtime member of Resurrection Parish.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara (Dombrowski) Barlow of Batavia; loving daughters, Robyn (late Jeffry) Falcone and Lisa Gray both of Batavia; 5 grandchildren, Casey Gray, Brooke (Kevin) Kuszlyk, Benji Gray, Ashley Falcone and Tessa Cerefin.

She was the devoted mother of Paula (late Norman) Jones of Java Center, Raymond (Marianne) Shreder of Henderson, NV, Patricia (John) Ryan of Bennington, Joanne (Walter) Robinson of Attica and special godson Joseph Reynolds of Buffalo. Also surviving are beloved grandchildren; Robert “Bo” Shreder, Denley and Lewis Ryan, Ruth Robinson and step grandsons John and Joey Lanuti, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shreder was a First grade teacher for 25 years at St. Vincent De Paul School in Attica where she was presented with the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo “Teacher of the Year” Award in 1990 by Bishop Head. A published author, she was recognized as a ‘Poet of the Year’ in 1987 and received the US Golden Poet Award in 1989. Aside from her love for Shakespeare, Poe and all things Sinatra, she enjoyed animals, especially cats and dogs and in particular her Dachshund “Worm”. Her hobbies included baking, gardening, needlework, shopping and decorating for the Holidays.

Nancy was very active in local organizations. She was a member of the PTA in the Batavia School District, the Band Boosters, City Charter Committee and City Youth Bureau in Batavia. She loved to read, made amazing Christmas cookies and above all else, loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Samuel J. East Bethany - Mary Frances Pietrzykowski, 85, of East Bethany, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Wyoming County Community Hospital, in Warsaw.
A member of Mary Immaculate Parish, she was a member of the altar and rosary society of the church. A member of the Lioness Club, the Falconettes, the Cookie Cutter Collectible Club, the Gadabouts and she was one of the original members of the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She volunteered many hours at the Richmond Memorial Library and was honored as the volunteer of the year.
Above all else, she loved being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Edward F. Pietrzykowski, Sr., passed away on May 1, 1988.
She is survived by her children, Patrick (Barbara) Pietrzykowski of East Bethany, Patricia (Stephen P. Milinovich) St. Louis of Gambrills, Maryland, Margaret "Peg" (Robert) Gorecki of Batavia, Edward "Chico" (Mary) Pietrzykowski, Jr. of East Bethany, the late Daniel (Lori) Pietrzykowski of Churchville, Dennis Pietrzykowski of East Bethany and Francis "Bummer" (Gretchen) Pietrzykowski of East Bethany; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Elaine Tibbs of Batavia and Millie Annis of West Virginia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is the sister of the late Margaret, Joseph and James Tibbs, Katherine Davis and Mary Jane Annis.
