Timothy John Wickson known as (Bear) age 66, of Zephyrhills, FL, formally of LeRoy, NY passed away suddenly at his home on December 14, 2016. He was born August 31, 1950 in Buffalo, NY, son of Kathryn Dill Wickson and the late Robert M. Wickson.

Tim attended LeRoy High School and in April 1969 enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in April 1974. He received the Purple Heart, Vietnam National Service Metal, Meritorious Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal, and numerous ribbons. Tim was enjoying his retirement in Florida. He will be greatly missed by all.

Tim is survived by his sons; Eric (Kelly) Wickson of Engelwood, FL, Timothy (Heather Rapone) Wickson of LeRoy, NY, Sean (Cassandra) Wickson of Engelwood, FL; grandchildren Olivia Wickson, Blake Wickson, and Warner Wickson of Engelwood, FL; brothers: R. Michael Wickson of LeRoy, NY, Richard (Cheryl) Wickson of Odessa, FL, Dennis Wickson of Zephyrhills, FL, Gary (Linda) Wickson of LeRoy, NY; sisters: Susan (Edward) Oliver of Fairport, NY and Barbara Michel of Syracuse, NY; along with several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.

Tim was laid to rest on December 20, 2016 in the National Cemetery with full military honors in Sarasota FL. The family will receive friends at a celebration of life for Tim late Spring 2017 in LeRoy, NY.

Mary Ellen (Wilson) Mosman, 88 of Batavia, passed away Sunday January 8, 2017 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1928 in Buffalo, New York to the late Ellis (Elizabeth Kilbride) Knight. She is preceded in death by a son Timothy Mosman, daughter Judith E. Peterson, twin sister Elizabeth Meredith, brother David Wilson.

Mary Ellen was an interior decorator, the president of L.C. Mosman Co. Inc., was an Elementary School Teacher and worked at St. Jerome’s Hospital. She was a member of American Association of University Women and Lioness Club of Batavia. Mrs. Mosman cherished and adored her family.

She is survived by her loving husband William L. Mosman of Batavia; daughters Patricia (Donald) Smith of Wilson; Mary (Wayne) Keifman of Grand Island; Ellen (Joaquin) Aymerich of Naples; Nancy (John Corey) Mosman of Williamsville; sons William (Paula) Mosman Jr. of Batavia; Daniel (Karen) Mosman of Boston, MA; son-in-law Jon Peterson of Rochester; 11 grandchildren Zachary Smith, Chelsea (John) Dominick, Mary Kathryn Smith, Ryan Keifman, Kyle Keifman, Timothy Aymerich, Kara (Jose) Reyes, Honora Mosman, Sarah Mosman, Bridget Mosman and Erik Peterson; 2 great-grandchildren Emma Dominick and Evangeline Reyes.

Grace June Snyder Thayer, 90, of Pembroke died Friday (Jan. 6, 2017) in the home she loved.

Mrs. Thayer was born June 15, 1926, in Orangeville, a daughter of George Daniel and Helen Elizabeth Mead Snyder.  She attended Warsaw Central School and married Charles Thayer on Feb. 9, 1946.  They shared more than 68 years of marriage before he died in 2014.

Mrs. Thayer worked at the Perry Knitting Mill to help her husband raise the money for the farm they bought in 1959.  She was a true partner at Gra-Chuck Farm, working alongside Charles in the fields and milking cows.  She also loved to grow flowers and maintained an extensive and amazing collection of houseplants.  For many years, she operated a garage sale, and enjoyed meeting the people who came to buy.  She had a strong work ethic, as did her husband, and together they took outstanding care of family, home and farm.   Mrs. Thayer was a great cook and liked having people gathered around her large table for meals.

She was the sister of the late Walter H., Frank E., G. Edwin and Andrew J. Snyder, and Mary Bartlett and Helen Bagg.

Surviving are four children, Sharon (late Kenneth) Larsen of Pembroke, Douglas (Lauren Shaw) Thayer of Watkins Glen, Daniel (Tracy) Thayer of Pembroke and Melody (Thomas) Gorman of Kirkville.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Thomas Thrane) Larsen Fuller of Stillwater; Charles Larsen of Oakfield; Nicholas Thayer of Watkins Glen; Sara Thayer of Pembroke;  Danielle Thayer of Mount Morris; Zoe Thayer of Buffalo; Cassandra Gorman of Newark, Del.; Patrick and Michael Gorman, both of Kirkville; Christine (Robert) Gardner of East Syracuse; and Jennifer (John) Draper of Oakfield; and six great-grandchildren, Noel and Julian Thayer-Sunseri of Pembroke, Iliana and Camden Draper of Oakfield and Ryan and Joseph Gardner of East Syracuse.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.

There are no calling hours.   A memorial celebration of her life will be held at a time to be announced.

Stafford ~ Richard A. "Dick" Cone, age 69, of E. Bethany - LeRoy Road, passed away Saturday evening (January 7, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital.

    

 He was born October 23, 1947 in Batavia, a son of the late Arnold and Elnora Legg Cone.

     Dick was a very loving family man and well known by many as "Papa".  He was a proud US Army Vietnam Era veteran and provided services to the residents of Genesee County as a Deputy Sheriff for 32 years.  He was a licensed private pilot and a life member of the Stafford Fire Department.  Dick was an avid football fan, enjoyed going to car shows and spending time with his family camping.

     He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah Burgess Cone; his daughters, Lori (Shane) Totten of Stafford and Traci (Tim Wharton) DeWitt of LeRoy; granddaughters, Morgan DeWitt, Allison DeWitt and Ashley Totten; brother, Steven (Marie) Cone of Stafford, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Betty J. Wojnowski, 82, of Batavia passed away Friday January 6, 2017 at Batavia Health Care Center. She was born on September 20, 1934 in Batavia, New York to the late William (Dorothy Greenbaum) Meyers. Betty is preceded in death by Edward Wojnowski; siblings Frederick Burns, Donald Meyers and Phyllis Long.

Mrs. Wojnowski retired from V.A. Medical Center in Batavia in 1996 after 31 years. She also worked as a Home Health Aide for many years.

She is survived by her children Deborah (Guy) Laesser of LeRoy, Edward (Jacquie) Wojnowski of Traverse City, MI, and Joann (Chris) Plath of Batavia; siblings Charles Meyers of Lyndonville and Carol (Jack) Copani of Batavia; a sister-in-law Norma Meyers of Batavia; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

MARCIA E. WOLFF

Age 63, of Bliss, died peacefully Sunday January 1, 2017 at home. She was born April 25, 1953 in Lackawanna, NY a daughter of Ellen (Ryszka) Wlodarczyk of Lackawanna and the late Leonard Wlodarczyk also preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Darnsteadt. 

Marcia had a love for the outdoors and horses, was an avid reader, photographer and enjoyed music. 

Surviving are her children, Carole (Ron) Tanquilli of Hickory, NC; Tom (Elizabeth) Lukasik of GA and Janie (Dustin Dibble) Lukasik of Brooklyn; siblings, Ellen and Annemarie of Lackawanna, Joyceanne of Krumville, Michael (Mary) of Eden, John of CA and Leonard of Bliss; former husband, Thomas Lukasik; 6 grandchildren along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Fairport - Shirley Ann Fenello, age 76, of Fairport, longtime resident of Oakfield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 6, 2017.

She was born May 6, 1940 in Batavia, the daughter of the late Raymond Rademacker and Marian Frieday Rademacker.

A 1958 graduate of Oakfield Alabama High School, Shirley retired in 2002 after 30 years of service as a customer service specialist for M&T Bank in Oakfield. She previously resided at 28 Webber Ave. in Oakfield for 48 years and her passion has always been spending time with her family and friends.  She enjoyed people and brightening someone's day with a smile or compliment.  For many years she was a member of the Genesee County singing group; Crossroads of Harmony and Padre Pio Parish - Oakfield site.

Her husband of 52 years, Augustine Robert Fenello, passed away on August 29, 2014.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Suzanne) Fenello of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and Michele (Brian) Telga of Chili; five beloved grandchildren, Cody, Caitlin and Nicolette Fenello of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Zachary and Alexis Telga of Chili; two brothers, Gary (Mary Rose) Rademacker of Batavia and Wayne (Leslie) Rademacker of Oakfield; two brothers-in-law, Nick (Sarah) Fenello of Batavia and Dino Giordano of Hilton; two sisters-in-law, Sylvia Rademaker of Akron and Connie McClure of Batavia. She is the loving aunt to 19 nieces and nephews.

Shirley is predeceased by her brothers, Alan and Dean Rademacker, sister-in-law, Ruth Giordano and brother-in-law Benjamin Fenello, Jr.

Batavia - Nancy Ellen Stringham Tarkington, 95, passed into Glory on January 5, 2017 at the New York State Veteran's Home.

She was born January 17, 1921 in New Edinburg, Arkansas, daughter of the late Roy Edgar and Mable Roberson Roebuck.

She is predeceased by her husbands, Lamar Reaves, Morse R. Stringham  and  Dean Tarkington; her children, Lamar Ann (Reaves) Hubbard, Ramond Danial Stringham and Alan Morse Stringham; siblings, Siebel, Roy, Rob and Edward Roebuck and Helen Baker.

She is survived by her children, MAJ (ret.) Roy D. (Diane Siebert) Stringham of Batavia, Sally (Gary) Harloff of North Olmsted, Ohio and Richard A. (Barbara Priddy) Stringham of Toledo, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Sheri Burns Stringham of Leicester and Nancy Lonnen Stringham of Florida; two sisters, Nell Denton of Arkansas and Ruth Kelso of Oregon; her sister-in-law, Betty (Roy) Roebuck of Arkansas; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was a Christian and member of the Batavia First United Methodist Church for many decades. She served as a Sunday school teacher (teaching her future son-in-law Gary when he was 5) and was a member of the Ingraham Class and Women's Aglow. She met 1st Lieutenant Morse R. Stringham at a USO function in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1943 and married soon after. She worked at the former C.L. Carr's in Batavia in the bridal alteration department and the New York State School for the Blind in Batavia. She lived at 32 Franklin Street in Batavia for 54 years and will be missed by all who knew her.

Harry R. Ambrose, Jr., 85, of East Pembroke passed away Thursday January 5, 2017 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born June 12, 1931 in Buffalo, to the late Harry R. (Mae Kaul) Ambrose, Sr. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann K. (Pirtsch) Ambrose who passed on January 14, 2007; sister Gloria Hayward; sister-in-law MaryLou Newton.

Mr. Ambrose married his wife Ann on June 1, 1957. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran and member of Resurrection Parish in Batavia. Harry began working at Loblaws & Co in North Tonawanda as a stock boy, he became the Store Manager at Acme Markets in Attica and then Assistant Store Manager in Batavia. After Acme Markets closed he worked in the Quarter Master Division for the New York State Police at the Troop A Barracks in Batavia and also worked at First Niagara Bank. He enjoyed Gardening, the Western Chanel and woodworking in his younger years. Mr. Ambrose cherished the time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. He also loved spending time with his dogs.

He is survived by his daughters Catherine Peet of Rochester; Theresa (Mark) Vanderwall of Webster; Patricia Ambrose of East Pembroke; brothers James (Carmella) Ambrose of Batavia; Joseph Ambrose of Arizona; brother-in-law Al Newton of Corfu. Six grandchildren Matthew, Philip (Arden), Rebecca Vanderwall; Michael Peet, Kimberly (Brandon) Burns, Kevin Peet, great-granddaughter Hailey Burns, fur grandchild Tilly, nephew John (Sharon) Newton, nieces Julie (Steve) Beach, Jenny Newton, several other nieces and nephews.

Carol J. (Bartz) Irrera, 75 of Batavia, passed away Wednesday (January 4, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

She was born April 13, 1941 in Batavia, NY, a daughter of the late Albert J. Bartz Sr. and Ruth V. (Noel) Dutton.

She worked for Calibrated Charts for 25 years prior to her retirement. Carol enjoyed collecting clowns, gardening and cooking. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also actively involved with the prayer group of Notre Dame.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Roger Irrera of Batavia. Daughters, Tamara (Greg Wood) Ishmael and Sheryl (Michael) Smigelski, all of Batavia. Three brothers, Irvin (late Diane) Bartz of Batavia, Albert (Geraldine) Bartz Jr. and Ronald (Sandra) Bartz of Cape Coral, Florida. Sister, Rosemary (late Robert) Graff of Cape Coral, Florida. Sister in-law, Lillian (late Anthony) Irrera Jr. and Michelle (Michael) McNally. Nine grandchildren, Sabrina, Kayla, Nicholas and Jacob Twardowski, Crystal Ishmael and Peter Saxman of Batavia, Jerrod and Derrick Smigelski of Batavia and Amber Heck of Texas. Also survived by two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Batavia, NY.

Joel W. Turner, 43, of Jacksonville, AL., formally of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday December 20, 2016 in Alabama. He was born on April 10, 1973 in Batavia to the late Richard Turner and Sheila (John) Henderson of Tennessee. In addition to his father he is predeceased by his sister Amy Turner.

Joel was a United States Army Veteran. He will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous man. He cherished his kids and his grandkids more than anything in the world. He was always willing to help, often taking people in when they were in need. He was an honorable American hero to everyone he knew, and we will cherish him forever.

In addition to his mother, Joel is survived by his children; Jessie (Michael) Leone of Stafford, Mason (Amber) Turner of Batavia, Jackson and Lucas Turner of AL.; brother Chad (Jennifer) Turner of Batavia; Jill Turner of TN., Cory (Richard) McCoy of ID., 3 grandchildren, Weston Leone, Elise and Hayden Turner along with 21 nieces and nephews.

Paul T. Schilling, 69 of Attica, passed away peacefully on Sunday (December 25, 2016) at the V.A. Healthcare System in Buffalo, NY.

He was born April 30, 1947 in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late Theodore and Mildred Phillips Schilling.

Paul was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served his country with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed helping others in any way he could. He also loved to be outdoors, being around nature and listening to music. Most of all he was a proud father and grandfather, and was thought of as a “Super Hero” to his granddaughter. He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughter, Alicia (Robert Irvine) Schilling of Attica. Grandchildren, McKenna and Karson Irvine. Sisters, Lois Measer of Florida and Mary Jo Schilling of Cowlesville.  Brother, Charles (Sandy) Schilling of Buffalo.

He was predeceased by his brother, Philip Watkins.

Oklahoma - Patricia A. Chudoba, 80, of Alexander, New York, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 in Oklahoma where she has been under the care of her children since October 2013. She was born August 8, 1936 in Dunkirk, New York, the daughter of the late Michael Kuznicki and Frances (Rushnowski) Kuznicki Robinson. She was the sister of the late Geraldine Rettig.

Patricia retired from Brothers International Food Corp. in Rochester, New York and was previously employed for many years at ABC Roofing Company, Inc. in Buffalo. She was a lifelong resident of Alexander and a life time member of St. Mary's Church in Batavia.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Chudoba of Batavia, whom she married on April 30, 1955.

Survivors include a son: Raymond M. Chudoba of OK; a daughter: Carol L. (Chudoba) Roy of OK; 2 brothers Dale and William Robinson of Westfield, New York; 3 grandchildren, Audra and Donald Moore and Chad Chudoba; 3 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Alexandra and Brenya Chudoba. 

Funeral Services will be at 11 00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Joseph's Mausoleum, 531 Ellicott St., Batavia,  followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. JOHN VERNON ROWE

John Vernon Rowe, known as Vern by those who loved him, aged 92, WWII veteran, computer programmer, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, evangelist, prayer warrior, mentor, and friend, joined his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 31, 2016. 

Vern was born in Saint Catharines, Ontario, Canada, May 1, 1924 to Pascoe Baynard and Laura Prynne Rowe. He graduated from Riverside High School, Riverside, New York in 1942 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Fitch in the North Atlantic Theater and the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard in the Pacific Theater and was a recipient of the Medal of Valor. Vern married his High School sweetheart Pearl Jean Flannery in August, 1944.

 Following the War, Vern was employed by DuPont, and National Gypsum. In 1975, Vern and Jean relocated from Buffalo, NY, to San Bernardino, CA, to serve with Campus Crusade for Christ, where they were on staff for 17 years. Vern held volunteer positions in Food Finders, and Love, Inc. as well as serving in various leadership capacities including Deacon and Sunday School teacher in churches he attended.

He is survived by Jean, his wife of 71 years, and six of his seven children. Vern was preceded in death by eldest daughter Jeannine Preston Rowe. Remaining are Susan Wakefield of Batavia, NY, John (Sherry) Rowe of Lewisburg, PA, Linda (George) Renner, Hollis, NH, Michael (Maggie) of Wheaton, IL, Lori Summer of Lafayette, IN, and Peter (Christine) Rowe of Citrus Heights, CA, 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren also survive

 The family will be present from 1 - 3PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC, 4120 West Main Street, Batavia, NY, and Vern will be interred at Bath National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) at give.cru.org or World Venture, search for George and Linda Renner ministry.
