MARY S. NIELSEN ~ Age 69, of Batavia, died peacefully Sunday morning April 14, 2019 at the Unity Hospital in Greece, NY. Mary was born March 11, 1950 in Rochester, NY to the late George J. and Rhoda J. (Weeks) Dash, Jr.

Mary was retired from the Eastman Kodak Co. and DeRidder Inc., enjoyed gardening, sitting in her Sunbeam, cooking and watching her cooking shows, Candy Crush w/friends among other pasttimes. Her greatest joy was her family and time spent with them.

Surviving is her loving companion of 34 years, Allen McFollins of Batavia; devoted daughters, Stacey McJury of Ft. Myers and children, Samuel Y. Dennis, IV and Alicia J. Perez; Kristen (Michael Guerinot) Hawkins of Rochester and children, Cori A. (Jose Berrios, Jr.) Brimacomb, Zachery D. (Jordan) Brimacomb & Alexis Guerinot; brother, Bud Dash of Rochester, NY; her companions children, Jason McFollins, Aaron (Ashley) McFollins both of Batavia and their children, Jamaicia, Tequira, Memphis, Jayda, Mason, Ayden, Javin and Carter; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Javier, Jose III “Chuie” and Ellie, “Ms. Ellie” along with a host of friends.

Mary’s family will be present from 1 – 3p.m. Saturday April 20, 2019 at the MICHAEL S. JUNE A. PUNDT ~ Age 84, formerly of Elba, died peacefully Saturday April 13, 2019 at the Premier Genesee Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation. June was born in Batavia, NY on June 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Neth) Thompson also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl F. Pundt in 2014 and siblings, David Thompson and Doris Thompson.

June worked at the former Elba Drug Store and Grundler’s Bakery in Batavia, and a longtime member of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s). She is remembered as a wonderful mother who enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, word search and coloring.

June is survived by her devoted children, Cheryl (Steve) Young and Donald (Kathy McElfresh) Pundt all of Batavia; sister, Lorraine Coppini of Batavia along with two nieces, Nancy and Cathy Coppini.

At June’s request funeral services will be held privately by the family. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in St. Joseph’s Cemetery and in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Genesee County Animal Shelter 3841 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020.

David S. Sallome, 58 of Batavia, passed away peacefully at Premier Genesee Rehab & Nursing Center on Palm Sunday, April 14th, surrounded by his family, after a 5 year battle with cancer. He was born on December 18th, 1960 to Samuel J. and MaryJane (Pappalardo) Sallome. 
If you knew Dave, you knew that he rarely put himself before others. He would do anything for anyone. He was such a kind soul and was loved by many. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time visiting with his family and friends who meant the world to him. He worked as a mechanic for many years until joining his brother at Sallome Heating where he worked until his illness prevented him from doing so. 
Surviving along with his parents are three brothers, John (Marianne); Stephen (Penny) and Samuel II (Jaime) all of Batavia, along with several nieces and nephews; Adam, Maria, Jenna, Stephen Jr, Emily, John, Jr., Samuel III, Emma and one great niece, Alivia. 
David, even in death, wanted to help others, so he donated his body to the University at Buffalo Medical Research Center. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorials for David are suggested to Genesee Cancer Assistance C/O United Memorial Medical Center, 127 North St., Batavia NY 14020 or to a Charity of the donor’s choice. 

 

OAKFIELD - Helen M. Mansfield, 91, died peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2019 at home.  

Mrs. Mansfield was born July 31, 1927, in Ashville, Pa, - a daughter of the late Charles and Colletta Moran.

After high school graduation, Helen was employed at the Publix Shirt Corporation in PA.  She retired after 20 years from the United States Postal Service where she was employed, first as a rural route/mail carrier and then a window clerk - a job she loved.

She was a National Active and Retired Federal Employee (NARFE) member and a long-standing member of the American Legion Post No. 262 in Basom, NY.

She loved taking care of her family and home, and really enjoyed golfing.  Helen was a longtime member of St., Padre Pio Parish - St. Cecelia's Site in Oakfield, NY.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who passed away in 2011, and her son, Kenneth in 2001.  She is survived by her daughter Paulette (David) Brown and two grandchildren, Samuel and Natalie, who were her pride and joy.  Several nieces and nephews as well.

Mrs. Mansfield is preceded in death by her sisters, Olive, Janet, and Marge.

There will be no prior calling hours.  A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

BATAVIA - Joseph Michael Marranco, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at home in Batavia.

Joseph was born January 17, 1971, in Buffalo, a son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Kornell) Marranco.

He found his calling in the culinary arts as he was a talented chef that truely enjoyed cooking.

He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his son, Joseph Michael Marranco of Batavia; his wife, Kimberly Montemarano Marranco of Batavia; sister, Eve (Kenneth) Powers of Yorkshire; 2 brothers, Paul (Kathleen) Marranco of Cheektowaga and Sam (Stephanie) Marranco of Buffalo; father-in-law, David Montemarano of FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Susan M. Everhart, 66 of Batavia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Rochester General Hospital. She was born September 5, 1952 in Niagara Falls, NY; to the late Stuart (Phyllis Clark) Moffatt. She is preceded in death by an infant son.

Susan was very artistic with crafts, especially sewing and needlepoint. She was an avid reader and a fantastic cook.  Susan was a brave and courageous woman who battled MS for over 40 years. Even given the limitations of her body she still had a smile and a positive attitude. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her loving husband George Everhart, her two daughters Sarah Beard & Deborah Snow, her grandchildren Erin & Anthony Snow her loving brother Ronald Moffatt and her dear friend Stacey Ziminski who loved and cared for her as if she were her own mother for the last 9 years.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Graveside Service will take place at a later date. She will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.

Batavia - Donald William Brinkman, 74, of Batavia, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at home surrounded by family while under HomeCare & Hospice.

Don was born in Batavia on August 11, 1944, to the late Holden and Loretta (Woolever) Brinkman. 

He served honorably with the United States Army from 1965 to 1967.  He then returned to his previous employment at Lapp Insulator until he retired from there in 2009.  Don will be remembered as a hardworking, quiet, loving family man.  He very much enjoyed family gatherings and cherished time spent with his three young granddaughters, especially fun at "Grandpa's" pool.

Surviving are his devoted wife, Janet (German) Brinkman, whom he married on November 6, 1965; his loving daughter, Julie Brinkman of Batavia; his son, Rodney (Sabrina) Brinkman of Seneca, SC; three granddaughters, Kirsten, Sara and Caitlyn Brinkman also of South Carolina; two sisters, Barbara Brown and Bonnie (Larry) Horine, of Batavia; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Brinkman of Bergen; a brother-in-law, David (Marjorie) German of Batavia; a sister-in-law, Maureen German of Tennessee and many nieces, nephews and cousins.      

Donald was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Richard Brinkman Sr., Dennis and Kathleen Brinkman and Carl and Elaine Brinkman.

Calling hours are Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.  Donald will be laid to rest with full military honors in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.

Karen M. Wilt, 53, of Akron, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family. Karen was born December 3, 1965, in Batavia, the daughter of the late Robert and Virginia Watterson Wilt. She was the mother of the late Paulie Carpenter. Karen loved family get togethers, watching her cats and listening to music.

Those left to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Jordan Wilt (Meghan Chatt) and Kyle Carpenter (Christina Bartz); long-time special friend and father, Butch Carpenter; 3 brothers, Terry (Julie) Watterson, Harold (Barb) Wilt and Robert (Debbie) Wilt and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Life long friends, Don and Kathy Johnson and friend Jim Dickie also survive.

LARRY D. “BEAR” RICHENBERG ~ Age 59, of Elba, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon April 6, 2019 at his home. Larry was born in Rochester, NY on January 26, 1960, a son of the late Larry and Kathryn (Anchor) Richenberg also preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Martha Richenberg.

Larry has worked almost forty years at the local Sakrete Plant in Batavia. During his time there several owners had come and gone but what remains is Larry’s dedication and work ethic as a company man. A mainstay in the Elba community Larry devoted nearly forty years to the Elba Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Assistant Chief for 11 years. Larry is best described as a selfless, hardworking family man whose devotion to his family was unquestionable. He was a former member of the Godfrey’s Pond where he volunteered much time over the years. He enjoyed his fishing trips, NASCAR, dirt track racing and his “garage.” A self-proclaimed “Pit Master” he was well known for his efforts year after year at the Orleans County 4H Fair and countless other area events.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Cheryl (Pangrazio) Richenberg of Elba; devoted children, Michael (Kara) Richenberg of Batavia and Jennifer (John) Pontillo of Lakeville; sister, Kristina (Ricardo Richard Boor) Richenberg of Walworth; father & mother-in-law, Bernard (Joan) Pangrazio of Elba; special friends, the Bridge Family, Starowitz Clan along with his extended family, work family, cousins, nieces and nephews. Beyond his family he is survived by grand dogs, Millie, Paisley, Vinny, Cleo along with his loyal cats, Mable, Chuck, Buster & Evelyn.

Shirley Mason Swede DeWitt of Daytona Beach, FL formally of Pavilion, NY passed away peacefully on April 7, 2019.

She is survived by so many who loved her. Her daughter Linda DeWitt of Daytona Beach, FL and her children Chris Draper, Shannon (Angela) Draper. Great-grandchildren Zackary, Ryan, Trevor and Kiara. Her son Byron (Jaime) DeWitt of Daytona Beach, FL and Pavilion, NY. Their children Bryon (Gail Logdson) DeWitt (great- grandchildren Morgan and Allison, Anna and Bailey Logdson) and Danea (Gene) Traxler (great-grandchildren Jessica, Alexis, Zoey and Brody). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born on July 21, 1928 to Mary and Robert Swede. Shirley was number of 12 of 12 children. She enjoyed her gardening, loved to play euchre and having a “night cap.”

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Gene A. DeWitt, her friend Joe Conaway, of St. Petersburg, 11 sisters and brothers, a niece Shirlee Ann Norton and a nephew Bobby McDonald.

There will be calling hours on May 3, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm at the Cameron, Brady and Steuber Funeral Home located at 111 Wolcott St., Le Roy, NY 14482 with a burial to follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in York, NY. A Celebration of Life Party at B W's restaurant (Perry Road Pavilion) will immediately follow the burial.

Robert William Longhini, 56 of Florida passed away April 2nd 2019. Robert was born July 6th 1962 to the late Francis J. Longhini and Mary W. Longhini. Pre-Deceased by a son Tyler Longhini. A graduate of LeRoy Central School, he served in the US Army. He is survived his wife Sandra Longhini mother of 2 sons Jeffrey (Melissa) Gardner, Samuel (Katie) Longhini and daughter Angela Adelmeyer. His grandchildren Grayson, Asher Gardner and Isaac Longhini.
He has 4 brothers and 6 sisters Margaret Antinore, John (Shantelle) Longhini, Catherine (Ronald) Chmielowiec, Maureen Longhini, Sharon (Lloyd) Hall, James (Michelle) Longhini, Patrick (Tammy) Longhini, Julie (Timothy) Scheurelein, Mary Kay (Patrick) Longhini and Mark Longhini. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

CHERYL F. BAUER ~ Age 71, of Batavia, died Thursday March 7, 2019 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born in Buffalo, NY on April 19, 1947 to the late Francis and Zelna (Graves) Bauer also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick J. Bauer.

Cheryl enjoyed attending quilting class at the Senior Center, gardening, watching the world go bye on her front porch swing and time spent with Rachel and her children.

She is survived by her daughters, Rachel Tatarka with whom she resided and her children, Alayna, Kylie & Casey all of Batavia and Kristine (Tim) Flanigan, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

As per Cheryl’s wishes services will be held privately by the family and memorials in her memory are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Bethany - Timothy M. Chugg, age 52, of Bethany, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019, at  his home.

Tim was born January 28, 1967, in Batavia, a son of Richard W. Chugg, Sr. and Nancie Zerbie Chugg of Batavia.

Surviving along with his parents are his brothers, Christopher (Dawn) Chugg, Sr. and Scott Chugg, both of Batavia; his sister, Kellie (John) Ferry of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven nieces and nephews; Christopher Chugg, Jr., Rickelle Chugg, Xyrica Ferry, Tayler Ferry, Erick Chugg, Stephanie Mortimer and Felicia (Corey) Hall; five great-nieces and great-nephews; Haylie, Maximus, Ella, Chloe and Riley. Tim will also be missed by his beloved dog Coco.

Tim is predeceased by his brother, Richard W. Chugg, Jr. who passed away on December 22, 1984.

Douglas Marshall Bates, 83, of Batavia, passed away peacefully April 3^rd 2019 at Premier Genesee Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Douglas was born Feb. 11^th 1936 in Batavia to Marshall and Edna Miller Bates. He was a 1954 graduate of Corfu Central School. Douglas retired Oct. 1^st 1996 from National Fuel Gas after 39 years of service. He worked in Honeoye Falls and Batavia offices.

Doug is survived by his best friend and companion of 37 years, Rose Marie Squires; his two sons Mark (Sue Ellan) Bates, of Corfu, Scott (Sue) Bates, of Basom; his grandchildren Jaime (Jamie) Totten, Nicole (Cory) Coe, Kristina (Colby) Sanner, Mitchell (Kristen) Bates, Melanie (Rob) Tumminello, and Hillary (Kyle) Paille; and great-grandchildren Garrett, Tyson, Brantley, Tucker, Lincoln, Brayden and Stella.

He is proceeded in death by his daughter Cindy Miano, who entered into rest Feb. 3^rd 2019; his parents Marshall and Edna Miller Bates; his stepfather Robert Suess, and brother Kent Bates.

Doug enjoyed traveling around the country with Rose in their motorhome during early retirement and camping trips with his family over the summers. He spent much of his time on the golf course and playing cards with his retired friends. Doug always looked forward to his Casino Trips to Niagara Falls once a month, where he would spend the day at his one favorite machine. Every Saturday morning you could always find him visiting each of his kids and delivering treats to his favorite grand dogs.

Rosemary L. Brown, 50 of Buffalo, passed away on April 5, 2019. She was born on December 31, 1968 in Potsdam to the late Stanley F. Sochalec and Diane M. (Barone) Sochalec of Batavia.

Rosemary liked helping people, she was a very happy soul and always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her loving mother Diane (Jim) Sochalec of Batavia; siblings Pauline (Randy) Dickes of Batavia; Loretta Peterson of NH; Larry (Brenda) Taliento of FL; 6 nieces and nephews along with 4 great-nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Resurrection Parish 18 Ellicott St., Batavia, New York 14020. Rosemary will be entombed in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
